Vaelorian had always been fascinated by the universe.

The more he learned about it, the more questions appeared.

Space, time, gravity and the nature of reality had occupied his thoughts for years. Yet recently, his curiosity had taken a different direction.Full novel: Beyond the Dimensions or Existence — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He was no longer interested only in understanding how the universe worked.

He wanted to understand the limits of human perception.

How much of reality could the human mind actually perceive?

Was the world people experienced everything that existed, or was it merely a small part of something far more complicated?

He sat at his desk, surrounded by books and scattered notes.

One of the books was open to a chapter discussing higher-dimensional geometry. He carefully examined a diagram illustrating how a three-dimensional object might appear to a hypothetical two-dimensional observer.

A sphere passing through a flat surface, for example, would appear to the observer as a point that gradually expanded into a circle before shrinking and disappearing.

The observer would never see the complete sphere.

It would only perceive the portion intersecting its world.

Vaelorian leaned back in his chair.

"What if we're in the same situation?"

He looked at the ceiling.

"What if there are things around us that we simply cannot perceive?"

He opened his notebook and wrote:

Perception is not necessarily the same as reality.

He stared at the sentence for a while before closing the notebook.

It was only a thought.

But he couldn't stop thinking about it.

His curiosity soon began influencing his daily routine.

Alongside studying physics and dimensional concepts, Vaelorian started paying closer attention to his own body.

He experimented with controlled breathing, meditation and physical awareness.

He observed his heartbeat, the movement of his muscles and the subtle changes in his breathing.

At first, nothing unusual happened.

His legs became uncomfortable during longer meditation sessions. His concentration frequently wandered, and sometimes he struggled to remain still for more than a few minutes.

There were no mysterious energies, no sudden transformations and no extraordinary sensations.

Only an ordinary human body responding to ordinary effort.

Still, he continued.

He began recording his observations, comparing how his body responded under different conditions.

He wasn't trying to force something extraordinary to happen.

He simply wanted to understand what he was doing.

Far from the places familiar to ordinary people, beneath an isolated mountain range, a chamber remained hidden behind layers of ancient stone.

Its interior was quiet.

Several strange markings covered the walls, forming patterns that appeared almost mathematical. At the centre of the chamber stood a circular structure surrounded by faintly glowing lines.

An elderly man sat before it.

His eyes were closed.

Suddenly, one of the markings flickered.

The old man opened his eyes.

He slowly examined the structure, then extended his hand towards the nearest marking.

A faint distortion appeared in the air.

It lasted only a moment before disappearing.

His expression changed.

"Again?"

He stood up and approached the circular structure.

For several minutes, he observed the faint fluctuations surrounding it.

Something had changed.

He couldn't determine the cause, but the disturbance was becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.

A second man entered the chamber.

"Have you noticed something?"

The elderly man didn't turn around.

"There's a change in the surrounding spatial fluctuations."

"Could it be a formation malfunction?"

"I considered that possibility. But the pattern is different."

The newcomer approached the structure.

"Should we inform the others?"

The old man remained silent for a moment.

Then he spoke.

"Not yet. We don't know enough."

He looked towards the markings.

"Earth is beginning to change."

The changes were not limited to that isolated chamber.

Across the world, a small number of individuals had begun experiencing phenomena they couldn't explain.

Some reported unusual changes in their physical abilities. Others described strange sensations involving their surroundings, as though they could perceive something that ordinary senses failed to detect.

Most dismissed their experiences as imagination, stress or exhaustion.

A few chose to investigate.

But none of them understood what was happening.

There were fewer than twenty known individuals who had experienced such awakenings.

They were scattered across different regions, separated by enormous distances and completely unaware of one another.

Some had already begun searching for answers.

Others were attempting to conceal their experiences.

They understood that revealing something they couldn't explain could attract unwanted attention.

None of them were invincible.

None possessed complete knowledge of what they had encountered.

They were simply ordinary individuals who had experienced something beyond their previous understanding.

And the world around them remained unaware.

Vaelorian sat beside his window, looking at the night sky.

His notebook rested on his lap.

He had spent hours reading about spacetime, higher-dimensional structures and the limitations of human observation.

Yet the more he studied, the more he realised how little he understood.

He looked at his hands.

The human body was an extraordinary system, capable of processing countless signals and responding to an incredibly complex environment.

But even that system had limitations.

Perhaps understanding reality required understanding the observer first.

He opened his notebook and wrote another sentence.

What if understanding reality requires understanding the observer?

He placed the notebook aside.

For a moment, he simply watched the stars.

He didn't know whether his questions would ever lead to anything meaningful.

He didn't even know whether the answers he was searching for existed.

But his curiosity remained.

And he had no intention of abandoning it.
