Armed with the King’s absolute authority to investigate, the trio began to exit the palace.

However, as they passed the massive training grounds, the sound of clashing spears caught their attention.

They stood at the edge of the field, watching the Royal Soldiers practice.Full novel: Beyond the Palace Gate — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

To a normal person, they looked impressive.

But to Aira, Ria, and Kael, who survived the brutal wars of the North, their movements were slow and full of fatal mistakes.

“They are leaving their left sides wide open,” Kael muttered.

“Their footwork is for a parade, not a battlefield,” Ria added with a frown.

Inside the ring, the Palace Instructor was barking orders.

Seeing a particularly clumsy move, Aira couldn’t stay silent.

“You are doing it all wrong!” she shouted, her voice ringing across the field.

The entire regiment froze.

Hundreds of soldiers turned to see who dared to interrupt.

The Palace General stepped forward, chuckling.

“And who is this?

A lost girl?

You should go back to the market, little sister.”

Aira didn’t flinch.

She stepped onto the sand of the arena, her eyes cold.

“Don’t laugh.

Make your moves correct instead.

Soldiers get lost girl.

This is training ground not the kitchen girl.

The laughter grew louder. The source of this chapter is g.com.

“We don’t fight little girls,” one soldier yelled.

“We might break your pretty face.”

Aira smirked, her hand resting on the hilt of the sword carrying the Red Jade.

“If I lose, I will leave this place and never return.

But if I win…

you’ll have to explain to the King why a ‘little girl’ put his entire army in the dirt.”

The soldiers are still laughing, but the Palace Guards is starting to get annoyed.

He signals for one of his biggest men to “teach her a lesson” and get her out of the way.

The Palace Guards, feeling his ego threatened in front of his men, draws his practice sword.

He thinks this will be over in one move.

He has no idea he is about to face the daughter of General Arin.
