The first to arrive at the hotel entrance was Li Ming and Zhao Feng’s squad.

There were five of them in total: Li Ming, Zhao Feng, and Xiao Ya, plus a middle-aged couple. They were all ordinary people who had barely survived the journey thanks to Zhao Feng’s protection.

When they finally stood before this magnificent, impossibly clean five-star hotel, everyone was too stunned to speak.Full novel: Billions in post-apocalyptic stockpiling? Not as good as a bowl of braised beef noodles. — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Is this… really a building from the apocalypse?

The massive glass doors were spotless, reflecting their disheveled figures. Street lamps outside cast a soft glow, dispelling the surrounding chill and darkness.

Compared to the ruined, filthy city behind them, this place felt like an entirely different world.

“Gulp.”

Zhao Feng swallowed nervously.

He could feel an invisible energy enveloping the entire hotel. It was strong yet calm, so overpowering that he, a D-class abilities user, couldn’t even summon a thought of resistance.

The broadcast… it might actually be real.

“Look! What’s that?” Li Ming’s voice trembled as he pointed at the huge light screen in front of the hotel.

Everyone crowded closer and read the “Entry Mission” displayed.

Clear all zombies within 100 meters of the street.

“This…” Zhao Feng frowned, staring at the words on the screen.

The main street in front of the hotel was a dense roaming ground for zombies. A rough estimate showed at least forty or fifty regular zombies within 100 meters, possibly even one or two mutated zombies mixed in.

For their squad just one D-class abilities user among ordinary people completing this mission was nearly impossible.

This wasn’t an entry task it was a death sentence!

“This… isn’t this making things impossible for us?” the woman from the middle-aged couple burst into tears. “We’re ordinary people. How could we possibly kill zombies?”

The others’ faces were also filled with despair.

Hope was right in front of them, yet the threshold was far beyond their reach.

Inside the hotel, in the monitoring room.

Jiang Lingyue watched the despair on their faces through the screens, expression unchanged.

“That’s it? Pathetic,” Lu Xiao said, arms crossed, smirking. “Just a few dozen regular zombies I could blow them all away in one go.”

“They’re not you,” Gu Han said coldly.

“I know they’re not me,” Lu Xiao rolled his eyes. “But seriously… so weak? And they want to stay in Her Majesty the Queen’s hotel? Delusional!”

By now, he had naturally started referring to Jiang Lingyue as “Her Majesty the Queen.”

Jiang Lingyue heard him and inwardly enjoyed it, but said nothing. She was observing.

In the apocalypse, power was important but courage and determination to survive mattered even more.

If they couldn’t even overcome this simple difficulty, then they truly didn’t deserve to stay in her hotel.

Outside the hotel.

Just as everyone was falling into despair, even ready to give up, Li Ming, who had been silent until now, suddenly drew a sharpened steel pipe from behind his back. His eyes were fiercely determined.

“I’ll go!” he gritted out.

“Li! You’re insane!” Zhao Feng grabbed him. “You’re just a normal human! Going up there is suicide!”

“Someone has to go!” Li Ming’s eyes were red as he pointed toward the staggering zombies. “Zhao Feng, listen! I’ll charge and draw their attention. You take Xiao Ya and the Wang couple around from the side and find a chance to strike!”

“Your ability is enhanced strength. You can handle one or two zombies! If we cooperate, we have a chance!”

“No! It’s too dangerous!” Zhao Feng refused immediately.

“There’s no time!” Li Ming shouted. “Look over there!”

They followed his finger and saw a few other survivor squads approaching from afar.

“We’re not the only ones trying to get into the hotel!” Li Ming’s voice was urgent and hoarse. “We’re first. This is our only chance! If other squads get here first, we won’t even get a sip of soup!”

“We must complete the mission before them!”

Li Ming’s words hit everyone like a hammer.

Indeed. They had no way back.

Zhao Feng looked at Li Ming’s flushed, excited face, then at the middle-aged woman behind him clutching Xiao Ya, terrified but still holding herself together.

He took a deep breath and drew a fire axe from behind.

“Damn it! Let’s do this!”

“Wang, Wang’s wife, stay behind! Use stones to smash zombie heads whenever you can disrupt as many as possible!”

“Xiao Ya, stay at the very back! Don’t make a sound!”

“Li, don’t rush! We’ll go together!”

Zhao Feng quickly assigned tasks.

In the monitoring room, Lu Xiao raised an eyebrow, surprised.

“Wow, didn’t expect this weakest-looking guy to have guts.”

Gu Han’s gaze also flickered slightly but said nothing.

Jiang Lingyue watched with interest.

Interesting. This ordinary guy, Li Ming, was clear-headed and decisive.

Even in a desperate situation, he could quickly analyze the situation and make the optimal choice.

A true talent.

Outside the hotel, battle was about to erupt.

“Go!”

With a low roar from Zhao Feng, the five of them, like moths flying toward a flame, resolutely charged into the zombie-infested death zone!

Li Ming led the way, using all his strength to slam the steel pipe against the roof of an abandoned car.

“CLANG !”

The shrill metallic crash instantly drew the attention of all nearby zombies.

“Grrr ”

The closest zombies immediately turned, staggering toward Li Ming.

“Now!”

Zhao Feng seized the opportunity, launching like a cannonball into the horde!

His fire axe gleamed as he smashed a zombie’s skull.

“Splat!”

Black blood and brains spattered everywhere.

One down!

But more zombies had noticed and began to surround him.

“Ah!”

The middle-aged man grabbed a brick from the ground and smashed it on a zombie’s head.

Though it didn’t do much damage, it caused the zombie to pause just enough for Zhao Feng to strike again!

The fight was far harsher than they imagined.

After all, they were only ordinary humans with a single low-level abilities user.

Soon, a zombie grabbed Li Ming’s arm, aiming for his neck.

“Li!”

Zhao Feng, eyes wide with panic, tried to rescue him, but two other zombies pinned him down.

Li Ming was about to be bitten.

Everyone’s hearts leapt to their throats.

In the monitoring room, Jiang Lingyue’s brows unconsciously furrowed.
