After getting all the necessary items, the Crying Ghost Guild’s hunter group prepared to leave the Thunder store.
The light blue space door hovered in front of the shop, inside was a distorted area of light like a disturbed water surface. Boxes of healing potions, space rings, and stat-increasing accessories were brought to that station one by one by Guild members.
Kang Ian has not yet entered the door. He turned his head to look at Kei.
Those platinum eyes were still dull from fatigue, but the attention in them was clearer than when the two first met. Kei didn’t know what this man was thinking. He just felt like an object that had just been placed on the scale to be evaluated.
Kang Ian didn’t say anything, just looked at him for another second and then entered the space door.
"I’m here."
Moon So Yeon walked in front of him. She bowed her head slightly, her silver hair slid over her shoulders and fell down in front of her discreet collar, her blue eyes looked intently at Kei.
"Sorry about the president’s attitude. He’s not been in a good state lately."
"No problem."
Kei looked towards the space door that was gradually closing. Just leave a small path for Moon So Yeon.
"But I’m quite curious. Why does he look so tired?"
Moon So Yeon sighed.
"What the president wants most right now is simply a good night’s sleep."
Kei was stunned.
"Just a good night’s sleep?"
"Just a good night’s sleep."
Moon So Yeon smiled bitterly, but there was no joy in that smile.
"He has had chronic insomnia since awakening. Medicines, support items, healing skills... we tried almost everything. But nothing really helped him."
"It’s unbelievable."
A man can stand at the pinnacle of humanity, control gravity and lead a powerful Guild, yet what he wants most is just a normal night’s sleep.
"Sometimes the simplest things are the most difficult to obtain, especially for individuals like the president who are strong enough to surpass human understanding."
Moon So Yeon said that and then left, Kei watched the space door completely disappear before his eyes.
Kei stood still for a long moment. He didn’t understand why he remembered Kang Ian’s tired face. Perhaps because he realized that feeling of helplessness, when he was a powerful being but couldn’t save himself.
He is also facing things he cannot do anything about.
The magic power did not recover, the magic disappeared and the strange world did not have a single familiar magic element that he could continue to use.
Legendary Magician is now just an ordinary guy.
Kei shook his head slightly, not wanting to think any more, then returned to Mrs. Kim’s house.
As soon as he entered the store, he saw the old lady struggling next to the cashier. She opened the drawer, took out each item and then quickly put it back, looking a bit confused.
"Mrs. Kim, what are you looking for?"
The old lady turned around in surprise, saw Kei had returned and smiled gently.
"It’s nothing. I’m just looking for a lost item."
"Do you need my help?"
"No need, no need."
Mrs. Kim smiled and waved her hand.
"I’m old so I’m a bit confused, just look for it for a while and you’ll see it right away."
Kei looked at the old lady for a few more seconds. Her smile was still gentle as always, but the haste in her movements made him feel uneasy, like there was something Kei was missing, slowly slipping out of her hands.
At that moment, the doorbell rang.
A customer walks in. Mrs. Kim immediately turned around to greet her, her expression quickly returning to normal as if nothing had happened.
"Welcome. What kind of item are you looking for?"
Kei did not ask further. He went into the warehouse and started arranging the goods that had just arrived.
The warehouse is not large, but the goods are arranged in neat rows. F rank space rings are in small wooden boxes, healing potions and energy recovery potions are classified separately. Kei checked the quantity while trying to memorize each item’s characteristics.
He still hasn’t given up on the idea of understanding their manufacturing principles. In the near future, when he has time, Kei wants to experiment to see what Craftsman rank F can do.
If elemental magic doesn’t exist in this world, then what is the energy in the Dungeon and the energy that exists in the bodies of hunters? Why can it be used to create storage space, healing potions, and stat-boosting accessories?
Who knows, maybe the answer lies right in these ordinary items?
Kei was bending down to stack a box of medicine when the warehouse door suddenly opened.
Mrs. Kim walked in, holding a small black box in her hand.
"Kei, can you save this for me?"
"What is this?"
Kei asked curiously, staring at the box in the old lady’s hand.
"Customers sent items to the store for support."
Mrs. Kim placed the box in his hand, signaling him to put the box away. Kei opened the lid of the box, inside was a broken space ring.
The ring frame was originally made from silver metal that was cracked into many lines. The energy stone attached to the ring was broken in half, half was still stuck in the frame, the other half was lying to the side. The energy patterns that should have circulated regularly now only have a few weak rays of light left, flickering like the breath of a dying person.
Kei picked up the ring, his face turned serious.
"The space ring is so badly damaged, how can it still maintain its structure, Mrs. Kim?"
"I heard that the hunter broke it while fighting monsters in the Dungeon."
Mrs. Kim sat down on the wooden chair next to the door.
"He brought it to us and asked us to send it for repair. Inside the ring there are still many important items, but because the energy stone is broken, the storage cannot be opened."
"Can our shop fix it?"
"It can’t be repaired directly. She just receives it and sends it to a blacksmith she knows. Thunder is also the place to repair these items, but Thunder doesn’t do small orders, his apprentices only accept orders for E and F rank items."
Ms. Kim hesitated a bit, then added:
"Don’t lose this ring. That hunter is very worried because it contains all the items he used when entering the Dungeon and also his loot."
Kei softly agreed with Mrs. Kim.
He stared at the broken energy stone.
An item is broken, the energy flow is broken, and the storage space is locked. People in this world probably just see it as an item that needs to be repaired.
But to Kei, the ring in front of him is like an interesting math problem.
He gently touched the stem of the ring with his finger. At that moment, the faint energy patterns on the surface suddenly lit up.
In just a blink of an eye, a cold feeling ran along the tip of the finger, followed by a very small cracking sound from inside the space.
Kei immediately withdrew his hand.
"What did you just do? Why is there light coming from the broken ring frame?"
Mrs. Kim was startled.
"Nothing." He replied.
Kei bent down to look at the ring. The light had disappeared, but a vague image appeared in his mind.
A dark space and items stuck between layers of space. And deep inside, something was trying to respond to his touch.
Kei clasped the ring in his palm.
He didn’t know what it was, but for the first time since coming to this world, he felt an unfamiliar energy flowing through his body.
Very weak to the point of being almost imperceptible, yet it really exists.
Kei looked towards the warehouse door adjacent to the store, where the voice of Mrs. Kim warmly talking to customers echoed.
He did not tell Mrs. Kim what had just happened.
This broken space ring may be more than just an item that needs to be repaired. Maybe, it is the first chance to help Kei find his lost magic power.
