Lucas was this careful not because he was timid, but because there was a real example standing right in front of him.

Ishida Sōken.

As for why Uryū himself had never been targeted, it was probably because he usually kept his spiritual power hidden and rarely acted.Full novel: Bleach: Everyone Forgot About Chad — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

During the stretch when Kuchiki Rukia was running her missions, she was the one killing all the Hollows anyway.

In the manga, Uryū exposed himself because he found out a classmate in his own class was a Shinigami.

He hated Shinigami more than anything.

If one had never appeared in front of him, he would not have gone out of his way to make trouble.

But one did.

And how was he supposed to hold back then?

That was the day he outed his own identity as a Quincy.

Finding him now was not difficult.

At this stage, after a falling-out with Ishida Ryūken, Uryū had moved out to live on his own in a small apartment not far from the school.

For anyone else that would have been a headache.

Lucas had his own connections.

He was not a delinquent himself, but his reputation among the local ones was significant.

Plenty had come to make trouble for him over the years, and he remembered where their headquarters was.

They had no dealings otherwise, but asking for one favor should not be a problem.

Sure enough, his sudden appearance gave them a real scare.

His combat power was simply too high.

Then they heard he only wanted help finding someone, and the whole room let out a breath.

He left a contact number and the basics on Uryū, and was politely shown out.

They had no temper at all where he was concerned.

They were a loose pack of street kids, not a real gang, and next to them he was simply on another level.

Back home, he did not continue training.

His Fullbring was close enough now that it would awaken in a little over two weeks even if he did nothing at all.

Not that he sat idle.

He worked on sensing spiritual power instead.

He was not the type to pin all his hopes on other people.

Three hours later, his phone rang.

He had to hand it to those punks.

The efficiency was real.

Though the information he had left made it easy.

Start with the grades.

Uryū’s were good enough that even in high school he consistently ranked first in his year, which pinned down the school immediately.

From there they checked the student rentals around it.

And Lucas had also given them a place the boy frequented.

A tailor’s studio.

With all that, finding him was simple enough.

Address in hand, he went straight over.

As for how to broach the subject, he already had an excuse prepared.

“This must be the place.”

He knocked.

The door opened soon after, on a thin, tall boy in glasses who looked very refined.

Anime and reality never lined up perfectly, but Lucas knew at a glance that this was Ishida Uryū.

“Hello. May I ask who you are?”

Uryū searched his memory, confirmed he had never met this man, and asked.

“Hello. My name is Sado Yasutora. I’ve come about some rather special matters. Things that can’t be seen.”

He raised the gift in his hand as he spoke.

It was a visit, and he was here asking for a favor, so of course he had brought something.

“May we go inside and talk?”

“Things that can’t be seen? I understand. Come in, then.”

Something flickered in Uryū’s eyes.

He was a Quincy.

Things ordinary people could not see, what else would those be but Souls?

Except ordinary Souls did not register to ordinary people at all.

The only things a normal person could not see yet could still be touched were Shinigami and Hollows.

Once Lucas was inside, Uryū poured him a glass of water.

“Go on. What’s the situation with these things you can’t see?”

“It’s something that feels massive. It has a physical form, but the naked eye can’t catch it. I’ve run into it more than once.”

Lucas described a Hollow from the perspective of an ordinary person.

Uryū nodded along.

From that description, the man had sensed a Hollow.

Still, he had his doubts.

“How do you know about me? And why come looking for me?”

By all logic this was just an ordinary person.

How would an ordinary person know anything about him?

“As for that, one of the times I sensed that thing, you were there too.”

“I saw your arm move like you were drawing a bow, and then the feeling disappeared. I don’t think that was just some teenage delusion.”

Out came the excuse he had prepared.

He had made it up, but it was highly credible.

As a Quincy, there was no way Uryū had gone all these years without using his power on Hollows.

Karakura Town was large, and there was usually only one Shinigami stationed here.

Not a strong one, either.

Sometimes a Hollow appeared and the Shinigami could not get there in time.

Put that way, Uryū accepted it.

His bow and arrows were constructed from reishi, so he always had to deliberately hide his form while fighting.

Perhaps this man had seen him that once and remembered him.

“I see. Your spiritual power does seem somewhat stronger than an ordinary person’s.”

“But why have you come to find me now?”

The man had seen him act, yet waited until now to come knocking.

Uryū was curious about the reason.

“Because I’ve discovered that I’ve started turning strange myself.”

And Lucas told him about it.

A physical body that could already be considered non-human.

And still growing stronger.
