The underground laboratory beneath the Fifth Division barracks was cold and silent.

Glass cylinders filled with translucent green nutrient fluid lined the stone walls, each containing harvested Hollow cores, severed limbs, and glowing spirit fibers suspended in stasis.

Aizen sat at a wide mahogany workbench illuminated by a single kerosene lamp.Full novel: Bleach: The Lazy Captain — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Spread out before him were three sheets of parchment covered in intricate geometric equations, spirit particle density graphs, and vector flowcharts.

In the center of the desk sat a shallow glass dish containing a pinch of the gray dust he had scraped from the canyon floor in District 79.

Aizen held a thin glass rod, channeling a microscopic thread of crimson Reishi into the dust.

*Nothing happened.*

The Reishi did not ignite the particles.

It did not scatter them.

The gray powder simply lay there—inert, dead, completely devoid of the spiritual memory that every slain Hollow naturally left behind.

“Remarkable,” Aizen whispered into the dim room.

He set the glass rod down, leaning back in his high-backed wooden chair and steepling his gloved fingers beneath his chin.

His spectacles caught the green reflection of the fluid vats.

“To kill a soul is simple,” Aizen mused aloud.

“You sever its chain, crush its mask, or burn its spiritual pathways with superior pressure.

In all cases, force meets force.

The stronger vector crushes the weaker.”

He tapped his index finger against the desk.

“Yet what he demonstrated in the quarry was not force.”

Aizen’s mind replayed the microsecond before the Adjuchas collapsed:

1.

The beast’s kinetic velocity was approximately eighty meters per second.

2.

3.

Upon touching the three-millimeter boundary before Kazuma’s palm, the vector magnitude dropped to exactly zero—without creating an equal and opposite reaction force.

In standard physics and spiritual mechanics, stopping a moving mountain required an equal amount of opposing energy.

The collision produced heat, sound, and a shockwave.

Kazuma produced nothing.

“He does not block.

He does not disperse,” Aizen’s eyes glittered with dark fascination.

“He erases the concept of momentum itself within a localized domain.

A true absolute null.”

Aizen stood up, walking toward a large blackboard covered in sketches of the human soul’s spiritual boundary.

He picked up a piece of chalk, drawing a single, unbroken circle.

“If physical force and raw Kidō energy are useless against him,” Aizen muttered, tapping the center of the circle with the chalk, “then direct combat is an inefficient approach.

Any Hollow, any blade, any standard Hadō will merely be swallowed by his void.”

He drew three intersecting lines cutting through the perimeter of the circle.

“Every absolute power possesses an inherent constraint.

For a domain of total cessation, there are only three possible vulnerabilities:

First, sensory limitation.

He cannot nullify what he does not perceive.

Second, temporal duration.

How long can a mortal soul maintain absolute zero before the internal spirit pressure burns out?

Third…

desire.”

Aizen lowered the chalk, a faint, chilling smile touching his lips.

“Desire,” he repeated softly.

Yamamoto desired order and duty.

Unohana hid a thirst for blood behind gentle smiles.

Kyōraku fought to protect his friends and his comfortable peace.

Mayuri Kurotsuchi desired knowledge.

Kenpachi desired slaughter.

Every Captain had an anchor—a tether that tied their monstrous power to the world of the living.

*What does Kazuma desire?*

Aizen thought back through fifty years of academy files, incident reports, and casual observations.

Kazuma avoided promotion.

He refused noble invitations.

He ate cheap sweets, slept on porches, and forged ridiculous incident reports blaming rocks and moss solely to avoid paperwork and public attention.

“He desires to be forgotten,” Aizen chuckled softly, the sound echoing through the cold laboratory.

“He is a predator of immense power whose only ambition is to sleep in the sun.”

Aizen turned around, blowing out the kerosene lamp with a gentle exhale.

The room plunged into green-tinted shadow.

“A man who fights for glory can be broken with defeat,” Aizen whispered into the dark, his glasses gleaming faintly.

“A man who fights for duty can be broken with corruption.

But a man who fights only for his own quiet…

can be destroyed simply by making his world far too loud to bear.”

Aizen stepped toward the hidden stone staircase leading up to the Fifth Division courtyard.

He didn’t need to break Kazuma’s kinetic wall with a bigger monster.

He just needed to construct a crisis so complex, so politically suffocating, and so visible to the Central 46 that Captain Kazuma would be forced to choose between revealing his full, terrifying Bankai to the entire Gotei 13—or watching his beloved, lazy retirement burn to the ground.

“Let us see how deeply you can sleep, Captain Kazuma,” Aizen murmured as the secret stone door slid shut behind him, “when the entire Seireitei begins to crumble around your bed.”
