Nyx’ara woke up with a start. To the feel of someone’s calloused fingers brushing gently across the lines of her face.
The sensation made her skin burn with a kind of fieriness that she had never felt before, and for some reason, it snapped her out of the very deep sleep she had fallen into.
She dragged her heavy eyelids open, courtesy of the clear liquid that had been injected into her earlier by that buffon... speaking of which, where is he? And where the fuck has she been taken to?
What the fuck is she doing on the floor? And why does her body ache as if she had just been stoned with a thousand heavy boulders?
These thoughts rushing through her head made her eyes flutter open in confusion, and her confusion soon morphed into shock when she was met with gold. Pure gold.
Not jewelry. Not the interior decorations.
Eyes.
The eyes gleamed beautifully like the sun around the solar system, lighting up the entire room and sending fiery heat down the length of her spine until it bloomed at her very core. For a moment, she couldn’t look away from it due to how mesmerizing it was... how alluring... as if it was pulling her deeper into a world of beauty, pleasure, and bliss.
Her eyes wandered away from the beautiful sun-like eyes calling out to her only for a moment— but that short moment was enough to make her realize that the said eyes belonged to a face so well sculpted, you would think he was either a work of art or a Greek god himself.
Handsome.
Her breath hitched in shock, and the sound she made deep in her throat made the handsome stranger retract their hands from her face quickly— so quickly that he almost lost his balance and in the process, the hand went down to her...
Breasts!
Her mother fucking breasts!
Creep.
Every ounce of attraction Nyx’ara once felt for the stranger only seconds ago went down the drain almost instantly and she was left with a rage so intense, she didn’t even realize when she moved until the loud sound of a crack tore through the thin air, echoing across the vast space.
The force of the hit sent his face whipping to the side, while her hand’s imprint stained his cheek like something straight out of ’Tom and Jerry.’
But at the time, she cared less about him and more about the way her palm stung from hitting his chiseled face so hard... that is until she heard the gasp.
Loud.
Echoing.
She craned her neck just then to take a look around her and when she saw the aggressive crowd gathered around, all looking as though they were actively asking for her head, her heart lurched into her mouth.
Where the fuck is this?
Goddess, who the Hell did she just hit?
She was jolted out of this thought when Mister handsome stranger with gold eyes rose to his feet, and it wasn’t until he did this that she realized how intimidatingly tall he was. How well proportioned his entire body was... and how mouthwatering handsome he was from his head to his toes.
Jesus.
While his height towered over her like a mountain, his aura pressed down on her chest, suffocating her, and filling her chest with a tightness she couldn’t quite explain.
She does not know who he is but she can tell that he is powerful. Even more powerful than Flynn. The force of his aura made her chest feel inexplicably heavy and almost instantly, tears filled her eyes, blurring her vision.
"She just struck Alpha!"
"She is an unrepentant murderer!"
She should be killed immediately!"
As the words around her echoed into her empty skull, pulling her out of her reverie and informing her of the grave mistake she had just made, her jaw dropped open. She sputtered;
"Y-you? You are A-alpha?"
But he didn’t respond. Hell, his now darkened eyes didn’t even spare her another glance.
In desperate confusion, she rushed to push herself to her knees and to explain; But as soon as she did that, her breath hitched all over again because right before her, sitting comfortably in their thrones were three more men, all equally intimidating, all dressed in dark colored suits and all glaring at her with open contempt.
For a moment, she could only kneel there, staring at them and wondering why she had such an ill fate, because even though she had never met any of them before, she instantly knew who they were.
They were the rest of the quadruplets. The crazy Alphas that reigned with more fear and control than actual respect.
The DARK (Draven, Azriel, Rhys and Keiran)
And she had just slapped one of them.
Her heart stumbled.
"I-I a-am so s-sorry..." she cried out, pressing her hands together while she tried to appear as apologetic as she could. However, before she could finish, the Alpha she had smacked, or let’s all just call him Mister Golden Eyes, barked at someone behind her;
"Take her out of here and douse her in scenting water or something. You can wash her if you want to because she reeks! And then you can send her back in when she smells good enough to share a room with me."
She flinched.
Goddess, that was so disrespectful.
Her hands clenched into fists, but before she could even afford to be mad, she felt herself being forcefully pulled to her feet.
But she couldn’t stand up.
Her limbs were failing.
"Stand up Miss..." the person close to her hissed into her ear. He was a tall olive-skinned guy with dark curly hair... oh wait, now that she could see him clearly, she came to realize that he was one of the two that had drugged her earlier.
She lowered her head. "I-I c-can’t!"
Her response made the frown on his face deepen. He cast a dark look at her, one that sent her limbs working despite herself, and growled; "You don’t want to provoke the Alphas more than you already have. Do you?"
No, of course not!
She stumbled to her feet and nearly fell, and in a desperate attempt to catch herself from falling flat on the floor, she grabbed onto the front of the man’s suit to steady herself. But as soon as she did that, someone growled.
The sound was loud. Terrifying even. It made the hairs on her skin stand on end due to how powerful it was and made the guard smack her hand off his chest like one would swat off a fly.
She had no idea he was only scared for his life.
She frowned at him but turned away to steady her wobbly knees. And with a long sigh, she muttered; "I c-can stand n-now"
"Come." He said flatly and with that, she followed him out of the room filled with people glaring openly at her like they were there for her head and walked out into the blazing sun outside.
She had hoped that the ’wash’ the Alpha had talked about would be a real bath, so when she stepped outside only to— well, she doesn’t know what happened next, she only knew that she was suddenly doused in warm lavender-smelling water— she froze with her eyes squeezed tightly shut.
The water seeped into her tattered dress, causing a trail of dark brown liquid to trickle down her excessively dirty body.
But it wasn’t the obvious marker showing the world that she hadn’t had a bath in three months that stuck out the most to her.
It was the shame that immediately slammed into her.
The embarrassment she felt gnawing at her bones.
She slowly lifted her head to find the guard smirking at her like her misfortune was more entertaining than worrying, his eyes trailing along her extremely filthy skin with disgust.
And that broke her... completely.
His voice was barely above a whisper but it stung enough to send her self-esteem plummeting to the earth’s core as he snarled; "Now, you can walk back inside."
And with that, he strutted back into the hall, leaving her trembling like a leaf in the wind.
