Derek stood looking at the strange window hovering before him. He had his left hand on his chin as he read the words within.
I have awakened a system? Like those in webnovels? But this is real life... Derek paced around the room thinking, but couldn’t take his eyes off the system window.
I have awakened a system. When did this happen?... While pacing, he thought. Just then a single memory flashed before his eyes... Then?
It was when he was at death’s door... I remember seeing it at that time. Yeah, I chose to live. But how did I kill the golem? The old man said I did. What happened after I blacked out?
Derek tried to get his memories but all he could see was nothing but pitch black. Everything that had happened after he accepted the system couldn’t be recalled.
Realizing this, he stopped his pacing and sat down at the chair which the old man had seated earlier.
It doesn’t matter. At least I’m alive... He went into a daze, his eyes staring deeply at the system window... Did the system do it?
Derek had no memory of the surge of magic energy that came out of his body after he had accepted the system, and seeing that he wasn’t getting anywhere with all the questions, he decided to leave them for a later time and focus on what was at hand.

"Notifications, how do I open it?"
The system window before him displayed texts in the language he could read but were written in a rather ancient style. The window was crimson-black, nearly transparent-like.
"Open?" He called out trying to open the notification, but there was no change.
"Tsk, didn’t think he would work either." Not wanting to wait much time, Derek turned his head to the window where the sunlight passed in from, and thought for a while.
Afterwards, he turned back to the system and uttered, "Read!"
Almost immediately, all the texts on the system window changed and a different information was displayed.

Derek had a dark face as he stared at the very very first information on the system.
"Ravenscar? Who the hell is Ravenscar?" He leaned forward, baffled at the name he was looking at.
"Hold on, is it?..." Derek went into deep thoughts about the name ’Ravenscar’ but came up with no conclusion.
Then, he read other information. "Level, Strength, Speed, Intelligence. All these are just like a game. And I am a player?"
It was strange for the young man to see the things he had watched in games and read about in webnovels, back on earth. And now they were all directed to him.
Almost immediately, after he had finished reading his status, all texts changed and a different information displayed.
"Daily Quest?"
[Daily Quest: Train to become Powerful]
Goals:
[Incomplete] Push-ups — [0/100]
[Incomplete] Sit-ups — [0/100]
[Incomplete] Squats — [0/100]
[Incomplete] Running — [0/10km]
Warning: If the daily quest remains incomplete, a penalty will be given accordingly.
"Hm... this looks intense." His eyes narrowed slightly at the warning, after reading the quest.
Without hesitation, Derek stood up and walked to the center of the room. At the center was a futon which he had laid on earlier.
Derek rolled the futon away giving more space to the center of the room. Then, he went down in a push-up position and began.
"One..." Almost immediately after he had taken the first push up, his eyes landed on the system screen across him and he saw a change.
[In progress] Push-ups — [1/100]
"Huh, what do you know? It actually counted." His lip curled up into a slight smile.
"Two... three... four... five..."
Derek counted as he continued to push his body up and down until he was finally done.
"One hundred!..." He collapsed, after completing the first of his daily quest.
He stared up at the glowing system window displaying the completion of the push-ups while a tired smile played across his face.
[Completed] Push-ups — [100/100]
[Incomplete] Sit-ups — [0/100]
[Incomplete] Squats — [0/100]
[Incomplete] Running — [0/10km]
Three more to go. But I don’t have any more rest left... It was indeed true. Since he got transported to this new world, the young man hadn’t had anything put into his stomach.
He had fought a golem almost to the point of death, and just now, had completed one hundred push-ups in one go, all in an empty stomach. So what strength could he possibly have left in him?
At that moment, the door of the room cracked open and the familiar old man with white hair walked into the room.
Startled, he asked "W—What are you doing? Before the young man on the floor could form any words, he added. "Come down and eat."

In the balcony of a building made out of metal, stood Raymond. His blonde hair danced with the wind, while his magenta eyes gazed into the distance of the kingdom.
"Did you find anything?" The words left his lips, calm and warm.
"Yes... um no. Not exactly." Greg stammered, as he dropped to one knee behind Raymond with his head bowed low.
Hearing his clumsy answer, Raymond turned to Greg with a sharp glare, as if telling him to get his act together.
Seeing this, Greg cleared his throat and uttered clearly. "We found the place where the beam of magic power had come from. But we didn’t find or note what had caused it."
Raymond turned back to the scenery of the balcony. He could see nearly half of the capital city of Aldridge kingdom.
"Where exactly was this place?" He asked, his gaze still focused on the beautiful scenery.
"At Valley Town Sir. A town almost at the border of the kingdom."
"I know the location genius. What I am asking is for a specific area there. Is it the tower of blessings, a school, or a—"
"It was a building." Greg cut in. "Although it’s in ruins now."
"What kind of building?"
"The mages that went there asked the locals around and found that the place was a forbidden area. There had been a manor that had the crest of a four-winged raven. It was ordered that nobody was ever to go there because there was a ghost living there."
"A ghost?" Raymond turned, his eyebrows furrowing in puzzle.
"Yes. I’m not sure if that’s true. But according to the reports, the civilians were really terrified when they spoke about the place."
"And is there anyone that can attest to what had happened there? Or what could have caused it?"
"No sir. It was late at the time it happened and everyone was already in their homes. No one had any clue of what happened there."
Raymond turned back to the scenery, his hands clasped behind his back.
"A manor with a four-winged raven. Where have I seen that before? This does not look good." He mumbled within himself.
"Captain?" Greg called.
"Alright. I want a few mages to stay and patrol the area. If possible they should ask more questions and get answers. Real answers. This is something that can’t be ignored. For all we know an enemy might have infiltrated the kingdom and is now under our noses. I want more answers by tomorrow morning. Is that clear?" He glanced over his shoulder, then turned back to the scenery.
"Yes sir." Greg nodded.
"What about the entrance exam? It’s next week. How are the preparations coming?"
"All preparations are going well. The other dorms are also preparing. We have nearly over a thousand applicants this year. More than last year and the year before. And more are still applying."
"Hm. This is going to be one hell of a year."
