A week later, Adrian visited the academy's geographical archive.
The northern region was marked with several dangerous territories.
Most were inhabited by monsters.
The abandoned watchtower was located near the border of an ancient forest.
Adrian studied the map.
The nearest settlement was a small village called Frostmere.
According to the archive, the watchtower had been abandoned for more than a century.
Several expeditions had attempted to explore it.
None had returned with anything valuable.
One report was particularly interesting.
A group of adventurers had discovered a sealed chamber beneath the tower.
They had been unable to open it.
Three days later, the entire expedition disappeared.
Adrian leaned back.
He copied the report.
The watchtower might contain a powerful inheritance.
It might also contain something capable of killing him.
He needed more information.
As he left the archive, he noticed a familiar figure.
Kael Draven.
A quiet student with dark blue hair.
Adrian remembered him from the original novel.
Kael was one of the future protagonists.
He would eventually inherit the bloodline of an ancient frost dragon.
But at present, he appeared to be an ordinary student.
Kael stood before a noticeboard, reading a message about missing adventurers.
Their eyes met.
"Something interesting?" Adrian asked.
Kael looked at the notice.
"My family disappeared in the north."
Adrian's expression remained neutral.
"I'm sorry."
Kael nodded.
He didn't say anything else.
Adrian continued walking.
He had just discovered another important connection to the northern region.
Kael might become useful.
Or dangerous.
Either way, Adrian intended to keep an eye on him.
