Day 4 – Fatıma’s Dream

Zeynep had spent the night sleepless. The name “Mehmed Sâbit” kept echoing in her mind, like a splinter embedded deep in her heart. Who was this man? His love for Fatıma didn’t feel like a poet’s inspiration, but rather like the prayer of a martyr.

That morning, before heading to the train station, she performed the morning prayer. As she bowed in prostration, tears dropped onto her hands. The strange ache in her heart had eased a little during her prayer.Full novel: BORN THROUGH THE DARKNESS — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Lord, You are the One who accepts the prayers of the lonely. Show me the destinies behind these letters. Let Your mercy reach both them and me…” she whispered.

At the back of the station, there was a storage area she had never noticed before. The wooden door barely stood with rusted hinges. Inside, a wooden chest covered in dust caught her eye.

And… inside it, the fourth letter, wrapped in a yellowed handkerchief.

There was only one word written on the envelope:

“Dream.”

Zeynep opened the envelope with trembling hands. This time, the lines read:

“My Fatıma,

I saw you in my dream last night. You wore an old scarf and a delicate veil on your head… You were reciting the Qur’an, then looked at me and said, ‘It’s not time yet, but it’s near.’

I wanted to touch you.

But when I woke up, my hands held only loneliness.

Still, this dream from you gave me hope.

Sometimes, Allah speaks through dreams… I opened my heart to His voice.”

Zeynep took a deep breath. This was not just a love letter—it was a letter of surrender.

And this sentence:

“Sometimes, Allah speaks through dreams…”

It echoed inside her. Because she too had seen a dream the night before.

A woman, dressed in white, was walking among shards of glass. In her hand was a torn letter, a scarf on her head. She turned to Zeynep and said only one thing:

“Do not forget my name.”

Zeynep took out her small notebook from her bag. For the first time, she wrote her own feelings separate from the letter:

Zeynep’s Notebook – Day 4

“I don’t know your name, but I saw your face.

You were walking in my dream, through the broken pieces, but still standing tall.

That gave me hope.

It felt like not a woman, but a prayer was walking.

Are you Fatıma?

Or… am I becoming you now?”

Zeynep closed her notebook.

The call to prayer began outside. She lifted her eyes to the sky.

And for the first time, she realized the end of this story was not only hidden in the past, but within herself as well.

But the next day… with the fifth letter, Fatıma’s name would appear not just as a memory,

but as a real trace before her eyes.

To be continued…
