I must rent a house in the city for Grandma.
The city is densely populated, and it would be much livelier there. Grandma could even join a square-dancing group and make some new friends. She really was too lonely living out here.
Lucian spent most of his time at school and couldn’t always be there to keep her company.
Besides, the city was far safer than the suburbs. There were many Martial Artists stationed there, and most Otherworldly Beasts were intercepted before they could reach the urban area. Even if some managed to slip through, Martial Artists would be the first line of defense.
With that thought, Lucian made up his mind.
However, the moment he checked his bank balance, he couldn’t help rubbing his forehead.
"Only 2,000 Federal Currency... When will the government’s 10,000 Federal Currency subsidy arrive?"
He still had one more option.
His wealthy patron, Evelyn.
"My idea is good, right?"
Evelyn nodded.
"Although most Otherworldly Beasts are intercepted outside the city, a small number still manage to slip into the urban area somehow."
"Given what happened today, there’s no guarantee it won’t happen again. It’s best to move Grandma into the city. It’ll be much safer there."
Evelyn nodded in agreement. She also felt that Lucian’s decision was the right one.
"Then, Big-Rich-Lady Evelyn, you’ll have to sponsor me a little more!"
Evelyn didn’t answer immediately. Instead, she looked at Lucian thoughtfully, as though she had just thought of something.
"How about this?"
She hesitated for a moment before speaking.
"Why don’t Grandma move into the Sterling Family and stay at my place? That way, she’ll be even safer."
As she said this, a faint blush appeared on her cheeks.
The Sterling Family was a powerful Family. There were undoubtedly many powerful Martial Artists among them, so Grandma’s safety would certainly be guaranteed.
But Lucian couldn’t help hesitating.
Would Grandma be comfortable living with the Sterling Family? Would she even be willing to go?
And more importantly, would the Sterling Family agree?
After all, it was a prestigious Family. Would they really allow an old woman from the Slums to live there?
Lucian wasn’t sure.
Evelyn seemed to understand exactly what was going through his mind.
"Don’t worry. My father is very open-minded. And he knows that you once saved me. He would never turn his back on the family of the person who saved his daughter."
Evelyn’s reassuring words put Lucian at ease.
The Sterling Family was indeed much safer. For now, Grandma could stay there. If she didn’t feel comfortable, he could always find her another place later.
Clenching his fists, Lucian silently made up his mind.
He would soon become a Martial Artist. Once that happened, earning money would be easy.
"Thank you, Evelyn. I’ll go talk to Grandma now."
At first, Grandma stubbornly refused.
"This is the home I’ve lived in for so many years. How can I just leave it behind and move to the city?"
Lucian and Evelyn exchanged helpless glances.
In the end, they had no choice but to tell her about their encounter with the Otherworldly Beast Wolves earlier that day. Only then did Grandma finally agree to move.
Once they had made up their minds, they didn’t waste any time.
Lucian and Evelyn immediately began helping Grandma pack her belongings.
Although it was already quite late, having a car made the journey much more convenient and saved them a considerable amount of time.
After packing everything and locking the door behind her, Grandma stood there for a long time, staring at the house she had lived in for so many years.
Only after a while did she finally turn around and get into the car.
"Evelyn, slow down a little. Grandma gets carsick easily. I’m not as young as you two anymore."
"Of course, Grandma."
Evelyn smiled and drove steadily.
On the way, they passed the place where they had encountered the Otherworldly Beast Wolves earlier. There was no trace of the battle left behind. The principal and the other Martial Artists had presumably already taken care of everything.
"Evelyn, I’ve really troubled your Family this time."
"It’s no trouble at all, Grandma. Please don’t say that."
Evelyn smiled warmly.
"You’re Lucian’s Grandma, which means you’re my Grandma too."
Under the quiet night sky, the red Ferrari sped through the darkness. More than an hour later, they finally arrived at the gates of the Sterling Family.
The entrance was ancient and imposing.
Two enormous stone lions stood guard on either side, while a grand plaque hanging above the gate bore four gold-inlaid characters:
Sterling Grand Courtyard.
Beyond the gates stretched a vast villa complex that looked more like a private manor than a residence.
One luxurious villa after another stood within the sprawling grounds, forming an enormous residential estate.
Lucian couldn’t help but marvel.
"The Sterling Family is seriously loaded!"
The Sterling Grand Courtyard stretched across an enormous area, with detached villas scattered throughout the grounds.
It was wealth on an entirely different level. Four tall, heavily built security guards stood at the entrance. The moment they recognized Evelyn’s car, they immediately opened the gates.
As the Ferrari drove into the Sterling Grand Courtyard, Lucian felt as though he had entered an entirely different world.
The roads inside were spacious and beautifully maintained, lined with traditional lanterns. The walls, tiles, and decorative structures all carried an elegant classical style.
Yet standing among them were modern, luxurious detached villas.
The contrast was striking.
Lucian could only sigh inwardly.
The Sterling Family really knew how to enjoy life.
Evelyn drove all the way to the deepest part of the estate, the most luxurious villa in the entire courtyard.
A grand plaque above the entrance bore three imposing words:
Clan Chief’s Mansion.
The grounds were enormous, filled with pavilions, terraces, ornamental ponds, gardens, and various other structures.
It felt less like a villa and more like an entire private courtyard.
Lucian stood there completely stunned.
Inside the mansion, the luxury was even more astonishing.
The furniture and household systems were all highly intelligent and technologically advanced, giving the entire residence a futuristic feel despite its classical exterior.
"Mom, I’ve brought some guests home."
A graceful young woman stepped out of the kitchen.
She was beautiful and elegant, and there was a striking resemblance between her and Evelyn.
"How rare, Evelyn actually brought guests home!"
The woman smiled warmly.
"Then I must make sure our guests feel welcome. Evelyn, aren’t you going to introduce them to me?"
"Mom, this is my classmate, Lucian. He once saved my life."
Evelyn gestured toward Lucian before introducing Grandma.
"And this is Lucian’s Grandma."
"Hello, Auntie."
Lucian immediately became well-behaved and greeted her respectfully.
"Sorry for troubling you," Grandma added, looking slightly embarrassed.
A flicker of surprise crossed the beautiful woman’s eyes.
The name Lucian was certainly not unfamiliar to her.
"There’s no trouble at all."
She smiled warmly.
"I’m Evelyn’s mother, Selene Sterling. There’s no need to be so formal."
She looked at Lucian with a gentle smile.
"Lucian is the one who saved our Evelyn. You’re more than welcome in our home."
"Auntie, Lucian, please go sit in the living room. I’m cooking today, so dinner will be ready soon. Evelyn, go get some fruit for them."
Evelyn immediately followed her mother into the kitchen and lowered her voice.
"Mom... are you sure your cooking is edible?"
She looked at her mother suspiciously.
"Or should I call Aunt Eve instead?"
Her mother rarely cooked. Most of the time, Aunt Eve handled the meals.
"You little brat, what nonsense are you talking about?"
Selene Sterling rolled her eyes.
"Aunt Eve had something to take care of today."
Of course, Selene hadn’t suddenly decided to cook for no reason.
Her husband, Magnus, had already told her that Evelyn’s future husband might be coming over today.
Naturally, she had hurried home to meet him.
As Magnus’s wife, Selene knew certain things that outsiders didn’t. After all, Evelyn was her daughter, and she knew her daughter better than anyone.
She wouldn’t interfere with Evelyn’s choices.
But if her daughter had truly found someone she liked, then as her mother, she naturally had to meet her future son-in-law.
"Alright, then. I’ll take Grandma and Lucian to see their rooms."
Evelyn had no choice but to agree.
"Grandma, I’ll take you to see your room first!"
Lucian followed along as well.
The room was spacious and beautifully furnished. It had a large balcony overlooking the courtyard, panoramic windows that offered a scenic view, and even a private bathroom.
Lucian couldn’t help feeling tempted.
The living conditions were simply impeccable.
"Evelyn, why don’t you arrange a room for me too? I want to live here as well."
"My Family has plenty of rooms."
Evelyn glanced at him.
"The room next to Grandma’s is empty. You can stay here if you want."
"I’m just kidding."
Lucian laughed.
"I still need to Cultivate in the school’s Cultivation room. The Spiritual Energy room is far too beneficial to give up. It has ten times the concentration of Spiritual Energy."
Evelyn looked at Lucian as though he were some country bumpkin who had never seen the world.
"My Family has Spiritual Energy rooms too. Even the lowest-grade ones have twenty times the normal concentration."
Lucian’s eyes immediately lit up.
"Evelyn, your family is my family, and your parents are my parents. So don’t look down on me like that. After all, I’m practically your husband already."
Why settle for sesame seeds when there was a whole watermelon in front of him?
With Spiritual Energy at twenty times the normal concentration, his Cultivation speed would definitely skyrocket.
At this rate, wouldn’t he become a Martial Artist in just a few days?
"Bah. Shameless."
Seeing Lucian’s shameless expression, Evelyn looked at him with undisguised disgust.
