The day before the wedding, Li Jiao was finally discharged from the hospital.

These past few days hadn’t been boring at all. She had to admit modern gadgets were truly fascinating. Using the original host’s memories, she easily grasped the wonders of modern technology.

Ah, if not for the drastic fall in social status, she might have really been tempted to stay forever.Full novel: Bowing for Her: The Obsessive CEO’s Crazy Pursuit of the Worldly Woman — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Li Jiao put down the phone she’d been scrolling through for two sleepless nights. Watching the scenery flash by through the car window, a strange sense of melancholy suddenly welled up inside her.

She had searched through countless historical records and even learned to post on modern forums seeking help.

Yet she never found any records about the Great Zhou Dynasty.

Even the “ancient times” here were completely different from what she remembered.

Could she really go back?

Li Jiao leaned her head against the car window, deeply doubtful.

Fortunately, her self-regulation abilities had always been strong—to put it simply, she was somewhat carefree by nature.

This brief melancholy lasted only a few minutes. As the car arrived at the Li family ancestral home, Li Jiao became completely captivated by the European-style manor she’d never seen before.

Seizing the day was never wrong!

So she swaggered through the courtyard gate and stepped into the old mansion under the respectful guidance of the servants.

The moment Li Yu saw Li Jiao, he felt something was off about her.

Would the previous Li Jiao ever walk with such confidence?

The smirk he’d worn while anticipating her continued hysterics gradually faded from his lips, replaced by a growing sense of unease.

Sensing a hostile gaze, Li Jiao glanced in Li Yu’s direction with mild disgust.

So this was the annoying half-brother from the original host’s memories?

With his large head and sickly complexion, he looked like a foolish man with loose morals.

Li Jiao curled her lip disdainfully and looked away.

Staring any longer would just dirty her eyes.

“Since you’re out of the hospital, rest well tonight. All the elite families of City A will attend tomorrow’s wedding—don’t cause any trouble or embarrass me!” Li’s Father slammed his teacdown heavily as he spoke to Li Jiao.

Although the doctor mentioned blood clots in Li Jiao’s head might cause unusual behavior, he clearly hadn’t forgiven her for contradicting him that day and remained angry.

Hearing his tone, Li’s Mother’s joyful expression faded as she looked at her daughter with concern.

As the saying goes, no one knows a daughter better than her mother. She sensed Li Jiao had been irritable lately and worried she might lose her temper.

Yet Li Jiao completely ignored him, walking straight past Li’s Father to sit beside her mother and younger sister.

Li Rao watched eagerly as she settled in, then quietly scooted closer to Li Jiao.

Hanging her head and twisting her fingers, she whispered guiltily, “Sister… I’m sorry…”

She had originally planned to help Li Jiao escape, but her poor acting gave her away early. This led to Li’s Father sending people after them, causing the original host to panic and turn the steering wheel wrong, crashing the car at high speed into a wall.

Then Li Jiao woke up in this body.

Though Li Rao was a full ten years younger than the original host—just fourteen this year—unlike the willful and spoiled original, she was obedient and sensible.

Li Jiao had never had a full-blooded younger sister before. Those half-sisters born from her father’s concubines wished for her early death, their eyes always filled with calculation beneath a veneer of fear.

Oh, just like Li Yu had looked moments ago.

Now, facing such an innocent and adorable younger sister, her heart felt utterly melted.

“It’s alright, it’s not your fault.” Li Jiao pinched the baby fat on her sister’s cheek.

“Didn’t you hear me speaking?”

The annoying voice of Li’s Father came again.

“Dad, please don’t be angry. Sister’s head hasn’t fully recovered yet—it might have affected her hearing. She definitely didn’t mean to ignore you.”

Then followed Li Yu’s sickeningly sweet, manipulative tone.

“Stop barking. Who gave you the right to speak?”

Li Jiao didn’t even glance at him, instead ruffling her sister’s soft hair.

“You…” Li Yu took several deep breaths, about to retort, but was cut off by Li Jiao.

“As for what you said about no mistakes…” She glanced casually at Li’s Father, casually crossing her legs and twirling a strand of her wavy hair. “Hah, what’s in it for me if there are no mistakes?”

“What do you mean?”

Seeing Li’s Father speak up, Li Yu could only swallow her remaining words with resentment.

“Exactly what I said. Without any benefits, why should I help you?”

“Jiaojiao…” Li’s Mother gently tugged Li Jiao’s arm, worried she might truly anger Li’s Father.

“Why? Because you’re my daughter?! What do you mean ‘help me’? This is your duty!”

Li’s Father slapped his thigh, springing up from the sofa in fury.

“I know you’re upset, but calm down first.”

Li Jiao crossed her arms over her chest. “You wouldn’t want me to actually cause a scene at the wedding, would you?

After all… I did hit my head. What if I temporarily lose my mind?”

She smiled lightly, her tone casual, starkly contrasting with Li’s Father’s furious expression.

Yet, it was precisely this nonchalant tone that made Li’s Father’s heart skip a beat.

The way Li Jiao was now made him believe she truly dared to disrupt the wedding.

“Let’s talk in the study.”

After a moment’s thought, Li’s Father tossed out these words, ignoring Li Yu’s anxious gaze—she clearly feared he might agree to some “unreasonable” demand from Li Jiao—and headed straight up the rosewood staircase.

Li Jiao curled her lip, reached out to comfortingly pat Li’s Mother, then followed him upstairs.

Though truthfully, she hadn’t actually decided what she wanted, or rather, she wasn’t clear what the original host needed.

Otherwise, she’d have made Li’s Father beg her—it would have been quite entertaining to see him flustered and furious.

Li’s Mother rested her hand on the gilded railing, watching Li Jiao’s retreating back with concern. She opened her mouth, but the words meant to advise her daughter were ultimately swallowed back.

She couldn’t shake the feeling that her Jiaojiao had changed, as if… she’d become a different person.

After all, the former Li Jiao would have surely broken down in tears today, rather than remaining so composed and sharp-tongued…
