”I suggest we execute her now.
She was relentless in murdering your queen, and deserves to be punished immediately,” the dark knight spoke remorselessly with his blank facial expression remaining unchanged.
I couldn’t tell from his face or his voice if he was just doing this to me for the fun of it or if he had something else in mind.
“I don’t know if that’s how things are done in Valtoria, but we have rules we must follow here in Andreia, and our rules say that the criminal will only be executed six days after the crime is committed.
if those rules are broken the entire kingdom might suffer dire spiritual consequences,” sir Steven replied with a stern tone, staring directly into the dark knight’s eyes.
“Are you sure that’s the real reason you’re trying to delay the execution.
If anything, I’d say you’re planning to help her escape her fate.
You’re going to free her before the execution date and make it look like she escaped.
After all, she’s your late lord’s daughter, and you’ve already sworn to protect her,” The Dark Knight argued unwaveringly.
His voice still remained very calm and controlled, but stern and resolute.
He made sure to maintain eye contact with sir Steven so he knew how serious he was.
Steven grew nervous.
“How could you say such a thing?
I’m a knight of Andreia, and upholding the laws is something I am required to do at all times.
I would never break the Knights code of honour, not even for the princess,” he denied.
I could hear the shaking in his voice, I was sure everyone could tell; he was lying.
“If your code of honour is so important to you, why don’t you do the execution now?
You’re going to end up killing her anyway, so why make her wait six days for her death,” King Japhet spoke.
The people who came to witness the wedding had already begun leaving one by one, but some women stayed back to watch the whole drama.
These kinds of women were the ones responsible for spreading gossip all around the kingdom.
I remained quiet, listening as these people as they spoke about killing me like it was a small matter.
At this point I was starting to get really annoyed, and wanted to just die on the spot, but I couldn’t, I had to survive. New chapters come out on g.com first.
The survival of my kingdom depended on whether I lived or died.
I had to find a way to escape before the final decision on the date of my execution was made.
“Just as I stated before, the laws of the land must be followed, and who in hell gave you the right to make decisions on how we enact our laws, the last time I checked, you’re a knight from an enemy kingdom, so your presence here is not welcomed at all,” Steven argued, firmly maintaining his stance on locking me away for the next six days.
“Your queen invited us here, therefore we have as much right to be here as you do.
My father would be your current king if this little girl hadn’t ruined the wedding,” the dark knight replied, folding his arms against his chest.
Steven stared at me for a moment, then turned to the king of Valtoria, who had gotten himself a seat.
“I know what your true intentions are, King Japhet.
Celene here is that last child of the king and is the only one with royal blood.
Her death would cause the moon goddess to stop protecting us, giving you the opportunity to strike us down with your armies.
But I assure you I will not let that happen.
Even after Celene’s execution, I will fight until my last breath to defend my kingdom and its people,” he said.
“So, you admit that your plan is to help her escape after you take her away from here,” King Japhet concluded, staring at Steven with a blank expression on his face.
“No, that not what I…” Steven was about to answer when the Priestess suddenly slammed the lower end of her staff on the ground.
“Enough!!” She finally spoke.
Everyone went quiet instantly and turned to her.
Maybe she was finally going to speak in my favour.
She called me the goddess sent even though I was a faker.
I bet she hated my step mother as much as I did and that’s why she helped me, or so I thought.
“The goddess orders that Celene should be executed today,” she said, and my heart sank.
I’m sure this was because I angered her by pretending to be her goddess sent.
Just when I thought all hope was lost, the priestess continued.
“But the moon goddess wishes that we execute her only in the way he chooses,” She ordered, pointing the crescent moon on her staff to the Dark knight.
“What!
But he’s from Valtoria, you can’t let him make decisions for our kingdom,” Steven yelled angrily, turning to the priestess.
“Do not shout at me, young man.
The moon goddess has made her decision, and her commands far outweighs our laws.
I don’t care if you’re a captain, a king or a queen, the goddess’s rules will be followed,” The priestess replied.
Completely lost for words, and utterly baffled, Steven stepped back.
“Fine,” Steven said, then turned to The Dark Knight.
“What do you have in mind?” he asked, his brows furrowing in annoyance.
My brows also furrowed as I stared at the dark knight, waiting for him to pass his judgment.
The king of Valtoria had a smile on his face, he knew his son would definitely ask for my head to be cut off there and then.
In his mind, he vividly imagined himself basking in the riches of my kingdom after my death.
He had finally reached the climax of his plan and the only thing that held him back was me being alive.
“Firstly, you said that Celene was the goddess sent, and you seemed very sure about it,” The dark knight spoke with a low tone, and everyone listened to him.
“Yes, she is the goddess sent, I have not a single doubt,” the priestess replied.
“Good.
If she is the Goddess sent, it means the moon goddess also wanted queen Sylvania dead, and this also means that you cannot execute her unless the moon goddess wills it,” The Dark knight continued.
Where was he going with this?
“Hey, who’s side are you on anyway?
A few minutes ago, you wanted me dead, why are you wasting time now?” I asked, trying not to raise my voice at this treacherous bastard.
