Su Wanqing’s face suddenly darkened. “Whether I’m a cheating ‘red apricot’ or a ‘green branch’ is none of your business. We’ve long since had nothing to do with each other.”
The sparks in Jian Ou’s eyes were instantly ignited. He took a step forward and grabbed Su Wanqing by the neck.
Su Wanqing felt her throat tighten as a wave of pain hit her.
”Nothing to do with each other? I haven’t even settled the score regarding Shanshan with you yet.”
”BANG—” Someone’s fist slammed into Jian Ou’s nose. He staggered back, losing his footing, and simultaneously let go of Su Wanqing.
Everything happened in a matter of seconds. By the time Su Wanqing regained her senses, she was already tucked into Lin Shaofeng’s arms, while Situ Jin was nearby, swinging his fists and rushing toward Jian Ou.
”Quick, stop him!”
The moment Su Wanqing’s words left her mouth, Jian Ou had already started fighting back.
In an instant, the two grown men were locked in a brawl.
Su Wanqing stepped forward anxiously, only to be pulled back into Lin Shaofeng’s embrace again.
”Don’t go over there, watch out for stray hits.”
”No, we can’t let them keep fighting. A Jin, stop it!”
Su Wanqing hopped around in panic. Watching the fists flying back and forth in the chaos, her heart suddenly tightened, filled with an indescribable feeling.
Seeing that shouting was useless, she rushed directly into the middle of the fight in a fit of desperation.
”Stop! Everyone stop! Look at your statuses—aren’t you afraid of making the headlines tomorrow by fighting here?!”
The two men glared at each other, daggers drawn. Seeing the crowd gradually gathering behind them, they both deflated at the same time.
The battle ceased, and Su Wanqing hurried over to Situ Jin.
His mouth was bleeding, and there was a visible bruise around his eye. Seeing Su Wanqing approach, he somewhat awkwardly reached up to cover his face.
Looking at him, Su Wanqing felt a flicker of touched emotion. “Now you know how to hide your face? You were pretty heroic just a second ago.”
Situ Jin was dissatisfied and pouted. “You ungrateful girl, I did all this for you! Hmph, I’ve wanted to hit him for ages. If you’ve got the guts, come at me again!”
Su Wanqing rolled her eyes at him before turning her head to look at Jian Ou.
The injuries on Jian Ou’s face weren’t any lighter than Situ Jin’s. The worst part was his nose; he had clearly been caught off guard by the sneak attack at the start.
Right now, Jian Ou’s face was ashen as he stared at Su Wanqing. When he saw her supporting Situ Jin, a surge of coldness erupted in his eyes.
”Su Wanqing, your skills at seducing men have really improved. It’s just…” Jian Ou’s lips curled into a mocking smirk. “Do they know you’re the top star of Meise?”
Su Wanqing’s breath hitched. Did he really have to humiliate her like this? He clearly knew that things weren’t like that between her, Situ Jin, and Lin Shaofeng.
Before Su Wanqing could speak, Situ Jin jumped up again. “Keep your mouth clean, or believe me, I’ll hit you again!”
”Hmph.” Jian Ou let out a cold laugh, looking at Su Wanqing with disdain. He said coldly, “It’s not exactly a secret.”
Su Wanqing’s face turned deathly pale. A biting chill spread from her chest, making her whole body tremble slightly. If she hadn’t been leaning on Situ Jin, she would have definitely slumped to the ground.
She looked up at Jian Ou. He actually hated her to this extent. It was clearly his sister who had ruined her family, yet he protected her so blindly that he was willing to push her into hell.
How could she have been so blind as to fall in love with this monster back then?
She forced back her tears. Even if she was going to cry, she wouldn’t allow herself to shed a single tear in front of him.
Su Wanqing suddenly lifted her head, staring fiercely into Jian Ou’s eyes as she hissed through gritted teeth, “What does it have to do with you?!”
Jian Ou froze. The frost in his eyes instantly turned into a raging fire. “Su Wanqing, don’t treat what I said yesterday as thin air. Otherwise…”
Having said his piece, his eyes narrowed with a threatening gaze that swept over Su Wanqing before he turned and strode away.
Situ Jin watched Jian Ou leave. Only when his figure had completely disappeared did he turn to look at Su Wanqing, his eyes filled with obvious questions.
Although Lin Shaofeng hadn’t said anything the whole time, the way his gaze never left Su Wanqing showed that he had just as many doubts as Situ Jin.
Su Wanqing lowered her head, her hands twisting tightly together in front of her as her heart churned with turmoil.
She didn’t know how to speak of the grievances in her heart, and her sister lying in the hospital was a heavy, painful scar on her soul.
Finally, it was Lin Shaofeng who spoke first. “Let’s go somewhere else.”
The surrounding crowd hadn’t dispersed just because Jian Ou left. The gossip-hungry gazes of the bystanders gathered on Su Wanqing, making her hang her head even lower.
Inside a cafe next to the mall, Su Wanqing sat with her head down. Opposite her sat Situ Jin and Lin Shaofeng.
After a long silence, Su Wanqing let out a long sigh. “I don’t have much to say. Jian Ou… what he said is the truth. I’m at Meise…”
Before Su Wanqing could finish, Situ Jin cut her off. “Wanqing, how could you be so silly? If you were short on money, you could have told me! I would’ve gone to the old man, I would’ve begged him—he definitely could have saved Su Group.”
Lin Shaofeng looked at Su Wanqing calmly and said, “There is no Su Group anymore. It went bankrupt two years ago.”
