“Oh mother, it’s supposed to be a happy day today, don’t jinx it,” Liam whined.

“You brat,” Mark walked up to them and hit him on the head lightly.

“Is that how to talk to your mother?” he asked in a mock angry voice, and they all laughed to it.Full novel: Challenging The Mighty Vampire King — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Relax dad, don’t hurt your fragile hands because of him, I will teach him a lesson on your behalf,” Camilla joked as Liam’s expression changed.

“You are really heartless, miss, I thought you would make an exception for a prince charming like me,” he threw a jab while crossing his hand and putting on a hurt expression.

“Quit yapping already, let’s go greet our guest, we are already running late on schedule,” Julia reminded them.

“Camilla, stay here, the announcement will soon be made for you to come downstairs to join us.”

“Alright mom, I will sit put here for now,” she assured.

Away from the happy family celebration area.

A private jet landed in the kingdom’s runway, and few people could be seen bowing their head in respect when the door of the jet was opened.

A man, whose look seemed made out for this world, stepped out and made his way down the stairs as he glanced at the people waiting down to receive him, with no emotions playing on his dead-panned face — a complete contrast to his angelic face that would have any female going crazy and wetting down there without him lifting a finger.

“Welcome to the Lunaria Kingdom, Crown Prince Thane Blackthorn.”

The King of Lunaria Kingdom, Ryker Darkfur, welcomed the prince who stepped out of the jet.

“Greetings to you, Ryker,” Thane said in a dismissive tone, which didn’t sit well with the king who humbled himself by coming there to receive him personally.

“I will be going to Tycoon Mark’s celebration party for his daughter, as he invited me.

Will be back to continue our discussion,” Prince Thane said to the king while fishing out his phone from his pocket to make a call.

Excusing himself, he walked directly to the car already prepared by his subordinates.

The car immediately drove away when he got seated.

Axel, the prince’s subordinate and close friend, turned to give him a side glance, and not being able to withstand his curiosity, he blurted,

“Why the fuck are we going to the damn party you gave no fk about!!”**

He asked in a slightly raised voice, and Thane, who was resting with his eyes closed, opened them to stare at him while raising one of his brows at the same time.

Asher, who was driving the car, gave him a side-eye and shook his head as he wondered why the gods decided to pair him with this foolish, different-looking twin of his who couldn’t control his mouth around their boss, despite knowing his personality.

Meanwhile, Thane continued staring at Axel, who started finding it awkward with the intense glare.

“I know I’m handsome, Thane, you don’t need to remind me of that fact,” he joked to diffuse the tension, and Asher turned to him again, this time smacking his head, and Thane just scoffed at the audacity.

“Seems like I have been going easy on you these days,” Thane asked in his godly deep, charming voice.

“No boss, I’m good — oh, look at this tree, it is very beautiful,” Axel praised in an attempt to divert his attention again, while feeling sweaty all of a sudden.

While Asher laughed inwardly at his twin’s poor attempt.

“Ahh, it is beautiful,” Thane praised, going along with his antics.

“I bet it won’t be as beautiful when I suck your blood dry,” he suddenly stated as he looked at the culprit’s back.

Axel shuddered in fear as he tried to make himself invisible when he heard his prince’s statement, because he knew that the statement could come to life if he misbehaved again.

“I thought so too.

I didn’t know I had such a mouthy individual as a subordinate in my team,” Thane said again, not planning on letting him off that easily.

“I will behave, boss, just pretend as if I’m not here.”

Asher, who was listening to the duo’s interaction, suddenly laughed out, as he couldn’t control it anymore.

And that made Axel shoot daggers at him through his eyes.

“We have arrived at our destination, boss,” Asher announced as he drove towards the gate.

The security, upon seeing they were esteemed guests, gave them a go-ahead, and he drove to their allocated space to park the car.

The duo at the front got down from the car after receiving instructions from their boss, and they made their way into the party first, to check its situation.

Thane, who was now the only one in the car, swiped the phone in his hand to reveal a picture of Camilla, attached to the invitation that was sent to his kingdom a few weeks ago, which he captured on his phone.

He wasn’t planning on coming when he received the invitation, as he termed it as one of those that were promoting their daughter in front of him, but one look at the photo was all it took to shake his resolve.

Despite knowing he was here on an official mission to get to know the princess of this kingdom to check marriage compatibility, he couldn’t resist the thoughts that this girl was filling him with.

That’s why he came to this kingdom — he didn’t fancy using an excuse that would give him free time to know his muse.

“Killing two birds with one stone,” he thought.

He masked his expression properly and got down from the car when he got a message from Axel about the place being in the clear.

His eyes roamed around the place, and when he wanted to walk towards the party area, his eyes caught sight of something glittering.

He turned towards the lounge area, which was visible to him from where he stood.

His breath got hitched as he stared at the back of the girl of interest that he came for today.

But before he could decide what to do, he noticed another male coming in and pulling her in for a bare hug.

Despite how innocent the scene looked, he didn’t like any of it, as his face finally showed an expression.

He was frowning, and he had no idea until Axel came and he snapped out of it.

“What were you looking at?” he asked in curiosity, as he looked in the same direction with nothing in sight.

“Let’s go in.

The party is about to start, it will be disrespectful to the host if we arrive later than the birthday girl,” Axel reminded.

Having gathered a grip on his emotion, Thane made his way to the party, his expression giving nothing he was feeling away.
