Mai Sakurajima and Kato Megumi both turned to look at Ethan.Full novel: Chat Group: Harem Fights For Me — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Mai didn’t even bother hiding her suspicion.

“Ayame Yomogawa… she’s a woman too, right?”

Ethan rolled his eyes.

“Obviously. I’m not into guys.”

“Tch. Being a pervert isn’t any better.”

She shot back irritably.

What annoyed her was how shameless he was—running off to do that again.

She’d already come to terms with Saeko Busujima being one thing, but suddenly it was someone new?

Yeah, that didn’t sit well at all.

A pervert was a pervert.

“Whatever. I’m not arguing with you. Do whatever you want—I’ll be back soon.”

Whoosh.

He vanished on the spot.

🌀

“He really disappeared…”Kato Megumi waved her hand through the space where he’d been.

Nothing but air.

It was Mai’s first time witnessing world travel, but after a brief flicker of curiosity she just sneered.

“He ran off in such a hurry. Bet his head’s full of dirty thoughts.”

Kato looked at her, eyes calm and unreadable, as if she could already see through everything.

Then she suddenly asked, “Miss Sakurajima… do you like Mr. Ethan?” 😳

“Eh?”

…

“Lady Ayame, we can’t protect everyone. We must cover your retreat first.” 🚨

Kurusu.

A young and powerful samurai.

Trusted deeply by Lord Ayame Yomogawa, and close to Ayame as well.

Yet now, in front of everyone, he said this with complete seriousness.

It instantly put Ayame in an impossible position.

Because the moment the crowd heard him, panic broke out.

“What did you say?! Lady Ayame is abandoning us?!”

Chaos erupted.

“Everyone, I have never thought of abandoning you. Protecting the people of Aragane Station is the duty of the Ayame Yomogawa family.”

“But Lady Ayame—”

Kurusu tried to continue, only to be silenced by her sharp glare.

She was disappointed.

If he kept talking, he might drag everyone into despair.

Where had his judgment gone?

What they needed now was unity, not infighting.

All she could do was hope the deal would truly bring reinforcements.

They couldn’t hold out much longer.

Just then, a lively girl stepped forward, holding dual steam guns.

“I’ll clear the path.”

“Mumei?”

Ayame blinked in surprise.

This was the girl her father had treated as an honored guest.

All she knew was her name—nothing more.

“Save your strength. This is my deal.”

A voice cut in, throwing off Mumei’s rhythm.

Everyone turned in confusion.

A man dressed completely out of place strolled casually forward and stopped in front of Ayame.

Kurusu immediately raised his steam gun and aimed.

“Who are you? Who allowed you to approach Lady Aya—”

Boom.

A blast of force exploded through the air.

Kurusu was launched like he’d been hit by a battering ram.

💥

Crash!

He smashed through a wooden pillar and collapsed, blood spilling as his consciousness faded.

Ethan calmly withdrew his foot, glancing at him as if he were nothing more than a stray bird.

“The thing I hate most in my life is having a gun pointed at me. Do it again, and you die.”

Everyone behind him froze in shock.

Mumei’s pupils shrank.

Even after removing her Kabaneri restraints, she hadn’t seen him move.

Is he Kabaneri too?

“Your man offended me, so before the deal starts, I’m collecting some interest.”

Ayame hadn’t even processed his words when he lifted her chin and kissed her.

The entire crowd went silent.

That was Lady Ayame—how could he dare?!

“Lady Ayame!!!”

Some samurai cried out and raised their guns, only to stop when Ayame lifted her hand to halt them.

She had a feeling he would really kill anyone who pointed a gun at him.

Samurai were vital manpower—they couldn’t afford to lose them over this.

It was just a first kiss.

She had already traded away the rights to her body, so she’d prepared herself mentally.

But the next moment, her eyes widened.

This wasn’t a simple kiss.

It was deep.

Moments later, Ethan released her.

Her cheeks were flushed, breathing uneven.

He licked his lips, savoring the taste.

“Interest collected. Time to get to work.”

[Ding! Transaction started. Livestream activated!] 📱

Ethan walked past the stunned crowd to the very front of the line.

Looking ahead, the street stretched hundreds of meters—completely overrun.

Man-eating Kabane filled the entire road.

🧟

“Hey, need help?” Mumei asked.

She guessed he might be Kabaneri and offered anyway.

She knew their limits—stronger than humans, yes, but not enough to face this many alone.

“Heh.”

Ethan scoffed.

“If I need help dealing with this trash, then this power was pointless.”

He stomped his right foot.

Crack.

Everyone heard something shatter.

The next second, a terrifying wave of cold surged outward—racing from one end of the street to the other in an instant.

❄️

“Ha…”

White mist puffed from their mouths as they stared in disbelief at the world before them.

A world of ice.

“…..”
