Frieren had been watching the livestream the whole time, a sharp glint in her eyes.

“He really is getting stronger during battle.”

The ice field spreading around him, almost like a domain, kept expanding.

His control and mastery over it were improving too.

❄️

And nearly two hours had already passed.

Yet there was still no sign of him running out of energy.

If anything, he looked completely relaxed.

This only reinforced Frieren’s suspicions.

This man was… unusual.

She wanted to see where the limits of this kind of growth lay.

Aside from exterminating demons, studying magic, and researching human reproduction, this had become her newest fascinating research subject.

🔬

Stella: “Geez… it’s been almost two hours. Do these monsters ever run out?”

Ayame Yomogawa: “…That’s how Kabane are.”

Ayame Yomogawa: “Anyone bitten by a Kabane becomes one. As long as humans keep getting injured, Kabane will keep being born endlessly.” 🧟

Saeko Busujima: “Sounds like the Dead in my world.”

Mai Sakurajima: “Why do all your worlds have zombie-apocalypse scenarios?”

Saeko Busujima: “Who knows. Nobody wants the end of the world.”

Akame: “Wait… have you noticed something strange about the Kabane?”

Kato Megumi: “Yeah. They’ve stopped advancing. They’re retreating behind a mountain.” ⛰️

Stella: “They’re probably scared. I mean, Ethan’s stamina is terrifying.”

Kato Megumi: “Terrifying stamina?”

Saeko Busujima: “That’s a fact.”

Ayame Yomogawa: “Eh?”

Stella didn’t think anything was wrong with what she’d said at first. Then she realized the conversation had gone completely off the rails.

Her face flushed bright red as she hurried to clarify.

She absolutely did not want to be labeled a pervert.

Stella: “I—I meant his strength!”

Frieren: “That shouldn’t be possible. Aren’t Kabane supposed to have no intelligence or emotions? Why would they feel fear?”

Ethan: “They’re not afraid. Something big is about to be born.”

No Kabane approached anymore.

Ethan dispersed the sky full of ice spears and stared toward the mountain the Kabane were gathering behind.

Ayame Yomogawa had remained in his arms the entire time, feeling inexplicably safe.

Her voice softened without her realizing it.

“A big one’s showing up.”

“A big one?”

BOOM!!

The ground trembled violently the moment his words fell.

ROOOAR!!

A monstrous roar shook the earth.

Then a massive black creature rose from behind the mountain.

It towered over a hundred meters tall.

Calling it a creature was generous.

Aside from having a torso and limbs, its entire body was formed from countless Kabane fused together.

“Black Smoke!!!”

Mumei blurted out the name, her expression turning grave.

Black Smoke formed around a single core Kabane, gathering hordes of Kabane into a gigantic mass.

It constantly absorbed both humans and Kabane to grow stronger.

Some of the Kabane inside were already dead; others could still move even after being separated from the main body.

Even if blasted apart, it would simply reassemble itself.

At the center, the core Kabane glowed blue, protected by layers of other Kabane.

To destroy it, you had to break through those layers first.

An extremely troublesome enemy.

Mumei was just about to warn Ethan to be careful when she saw the curve of excitement on his lips.

“Perfect. All gathered in one place. Saves me from wasting time that could be spent enjoying life.”

He glanced down at Ayame.

“You can start preparing the payment for the deal.”

Their eyes met.

Her body softened involuntarily, though worry still lingered in her gaze.

Summoning her courage, she leaned in and gently kissed the corner of his lips before stepping out of his arms.

💋

“Lord Ethan… please come back safely.”

Ethan grinned.

“Don’t worry.”

“There’s still an hour left afterward. I don’t plan on wasting it.”

He crouched.

Then launched himself skyward with explosive force, shooting straight toward the glowing blue core of Black Smoke.

🚀

ROOOAR!!

Sensing his approach, Black Smoke roared in fury.

The Kabane surrounding the core instantly piled up layer upon layer to shield it.

It knew how to protect itself.

Too bad Ethan didn’t care how well it guarded its core.

A massive hand swung toward him.

Kato Megumi: “Mr. Ethan, watch out!”

Mai Sakurajima: “Dodge!”

Ayame Yomogawa: “Lord Ethan!”

The chat filled with frantic warnings.

But Ethan didn’t move.

He calmly clenched his fist.

“Big guy, ever seen a fist the size of a sandbag?”

Black Smoke roared again.

Not in reply.

“Then try it.”

He threw a punch.

BOOM!

A thunderous shockwave exploded through the air.

From the viewers’ perspective, Black Smoke’s movement froze completely.

Then the change began.

Ice.

A layer of ice spread rapidly from the glowing core, racing across its entire body.

Not just coating the surface.

Cracks appeared immediately.

The hundred-meter giant began to crumble piece by piece.

What fell from the sky were not chunks of flesh, but solid blocks of ice.

The core.

Every Kabane.

Frozen from the inside out.

Shattered into icy fragments by a single punch.
