After leaving Whitmore Group, Harrison drove straight to his villa. He needed rest.

He hadn’t had a proper night’s sleep since the previous night.

After finding Valentina in the rain, he had spent hours at the hospital, refusing to leave until the doctors were certain she was stable.Full novel: Claimed By The Cold CEO — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He had barely returned home that morning.

He had only changed his clothes and headed back to the company for the board meeting and now, after everything that had happened with his father, he felt completely drained.

Harrison entered his villa and loosened his tie, he dropped onto the sofa and closed his eyes.

For a few seconds, everything was quiet, exactly the way he liked it but his mind refused to cooperate.

One thought returned again and again.

Valentina.Where was she going to stay?

Harrison opened his eyes.

He had initially decided to send her to the Whitmore family villa but after the confrontation with his father, that was no longer an option.

There was no way he could send Valentina there now,not after his father’s threat.

And there was another problem.

If Valentina stayed at the family villa, questions would arise.

Who was she?

Why was Harrison involved with her?Why had he personally rescued her?

Rumors could spread through the family.

And eventually, through the company.

Harrison had spent years protecting his reputation.

He couldn’t afford unnecessary gossip about a mysterious woman suddenly appearing in his life.

He had never imagined that saving someone’s life would become this complicated.

Just then….

The sound of the front door opening caught his attention.

Harrison immediately sat upright; A familiar voice followed.

“Harrison!”

His expression changed.

“Julian?”

A tall man walked into the living room with an easy smile.

Julian.

One of the few people Harrison actually considered a friend.

The two men exchanged a brief hug.

“Good to see you,” Julian said.

Harrison nodded.

“You too.”

Julian studied him for a moment.

“You look terrible.”

Harrison raised an eyebrow.

“I didn’t invite you here to insult me.”

Julian laughed.

“I came to check on you.”

“Why?”

Julian’s expression became more serious.

“I heard what happened.”

Harrison’s expression immediately hardened.

“If you’re talking about the woman, it’s nothing.”

“Nothing?”Julian gave him a skeptical look.

“You rescued an injured woman from the street, carried her into a hospital yourself, stayed there for hours, and apparently terrified half the hospital staff.”

Harrison said nothing.

Julian folded his arms.

“That’s not exactly normal behavior from you.”

“I did what I needed to do.”

Julian stared at him.

“That’s your explanation?”

“Yes.” Harrison leaned back against the sofa.

“She needed help.”

Julian watched him carefully.

“And?”

Harrison sighed.

“And what?”

“You don’t normally care.”

Harrison’s eyes narrowed.

“She’s just a person who needed help.”

Julian wasn’t convinced.

“Then why are you still thinking about her?”

Harrison remained silent.

His mind was still occupied with Valentina and the decision he had just made.

Then…Knock.

Knock.

Knock.

Harrison’s eyes immediately lifted. The sound was unusual not the casual knock of a friend and not the familiar sound of one of his staff.

Julian noticed the change in Harrison’s expression.

“Are you expecting someone?”

Harrison shook his head.

“No.”

” I’ll get it.”He walked toward the door and opened it.

His expression immediately changed.

Two police officers stood outside. For a moment, Harrison simply stared at them.

The officers showed their identification.

“Good afternoon, Mr.

Harrison Whitmore.”

Harrison’s brows furrowed.

“Good afternoon.”

One of the officers took a step forward.

“I’m afraid we’re going to have to ask you to come with us for further questioning.”

Harrison’s expression hardened.

“For what?”

The officer exchanged a brief glance with his colleague.

“It’s regarding the young woman you brought to the hospital last night.”

Harrison’s jaw tightened.

“Valentina?”

“Yes, sir.”

Julian had already stood up behind him.

He looked from Harrison to the officers, confusion written across his face.

The officer continued.

“The woman is being treated as a suspected victim of sexual assault.

We need to clarify certain details concerning how you found her and the circumstances surrounding your involvement.”

Harrison stared at him.

“I already told the hospital everything.”

“We’re aware.”

“Then what’s the problem?”

The officer took a breath.

“Someone has come forward claiming that the woman is their daughter.”

Harrison froze.

“What?”

“The person has provided information and an account identifying the woman as their daughter.”

Harrison’s mind raced,he looked toward Julian. Then back at the officer.

“But she doesn’t remember anything.”

“We know.”

The officer paused.

“And that’s why we need to question everyone involved.”

Harrison’s expression became colder.

“I don’t understand why you’re questioning me.”

The officer looked directly at him.

“Because you told the authorities that the woman was your old school friend.”

Harrison’s face changed.

The lie he had completely forgotten about it.

He had only said it because the nurse had asked for the woman’s name, and he had been desperate to protect her from unnecessary questions.

But now that lie had come back to haunt him.

The officer continued.

“We’ve made inquiries.”

He paused.

“We couldn’t find evidence that you and the woman attended school together.”

Harrison remained silent.

” And again the victim reportedly told medical staff that you claimed to be her boyfriend.”

Then Harrison’s eyes widened slightly.

He hadn’t expected that information to reach the police so quickly.

“She has memory loss,” he said firmly.

“We understand that.”

“Then you should also understand that she doesn’t know who I am”

The officer nodded.

“Which is precisely why we need to establish the truth.”

Harrison clenched his fists.

For the first time, he realized just how complicated the situation had become.

One lie.

One attempt to protect a stranger.

And now the police were standing inside his home.

Though he didn’t panic but he knew someone must be behind revealing the secret .

Who could that be?

Is he going to be detain for real?
