Kevin waved a hand.

“Forget it.

I still prefer drinking.Full novel: Coming Clean Starts with Resident Evil — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

If you want to thank me, just treat me to a drink.

The Raccoon Bar—we go there all the time.

If you’ve got time, come have one.”

“Alright, I’ll write it down.

When I have time, I’ll look you up for a drink.” Eddie nodded, then turned his gaze toward Raccoon City University.

He always felt like something was hidden in there.

“I still have things to do, so I’ll head out first.

If you’ve got time, do me a favor and take me back to the company.

It’s not quitting time yet.”

There really was a mysterious experiment at the university—mysterious, and downright chilling.

Honestly, it was better not to know.

If you knew, you’d be scared stiff and wouldn’t be able to sleep at night.

“You’re really proactive,” Kevin laughed.

“Are all researchers this crazy?

Come on, I’m free anyway.

I’ll be your personal driver once.”

Back in the lab, Annette wasn’t there.

After resting for a while, Eddie began testing his physical capabilities—boxing, jumping, and measuring with instruments.

With one hand he lifted a refrigerator weighing over two hundred jin—almost three hundred jin—without feeling much strain at all.

That performance clearly proved it: the diluted T-serum had succeeded!

Thunk!

An ordinary knife couldn’t cut his skin at all.

His skin had become tough enough to resist sharp weapons, and it could also absorb incoming blunt force.

“Unbelievable,” Eddie muttered as he studied the test data.

“Strength and defense have both increased dramatically.

Recovery’s gotten pretty good too.

And my appetite has grown—also consistent with biological traits.” A full internal check showed no issues with his organs.

Everything looked normal.

Crack.

Eddie clenched his fist and could clearly feel power flowing through him, being transmitted like current.

“What a wonderful feeling… no wonder so many people chase power without caring what it costs.”

The experiment was a success, but there was still a gap between him and someone like Wesker—the kind of “superman” who could dodge bullets.

That stage required a whole new level of physical enhancement, and Eddie’s current state couldn’t reach it yet.

Even if he couldn’t compare to Wesker, he was already doing great—better than expected.

Most importantly, he still retained human characteristics—he could reproduce.

Eddie remembered clearly: in Wesker’s report, after using a mutated strain of the Progenitor Virus, Wesker gained superhuman abilities but also lost his status as a human.

Probably like those tribal chiefs in Africa—he’d lost reproductive ability, in other words, a eunuch!

Eddie tested again.

His usable strength reached about eight hundred jin; beyond that, it became difficult to sustain.

If he were a bioweapon—if he removed the limiter—he could probably reach twelve hundred jin.

Humans fear pain; it’s a natural protective mechanism.

Bioweapons don’t fear pain.

They can use every ounce of force.

That’s the difference between humans and monsters.

He was testing smoothly when Eddie suddenly felt his vision flood with crimson.

The T-serum’s violent effect still appeared—berserk!

A unique berserk state, where pure combat instinct would overwhelm reason, a mad urge to destroy everything in sight.

“Damn it—this serum still isn’t perfect!” Eddie clenched his fist hard and repeatedly smashed the floor, trying to distract himself that way.

Tap-tap-tap!

Worse still, the crisp sound of high heels clicking against the floor rang out.

That familiar sound—only Annette wore heels like that.

There were no other researchers here besides her.

Hiss!

The advanced-tech door slid open.

The moment Annette stepped inside and saw Eddie pounding the floor like a maniac, she cried out in shock, “Eddie—what’s wrong?!”

She tried to rush over and help, but Eddie shoved her away.

“Get away!

Get farther away!

Stay away from me!

I want to hit someone—beat someone—kill someone.

Until I calm down, don’t come near me!”

“No—I can save you!” Annette insisted, trying to steady him.

“Hold back.

Let me look.

I’ve developed the latest G-serum vaccine.

It should work on you.

The G-serum is an upgraded version of the T-serum.

Wait—I’ll go get the vaccine right now!”

She didn’t want to lose this brilliant friend—maybe she didn’t want to lose this “little brother.”

“Too late.

Go—now!” Eddie shouted, and then, driven by savage fury, he lunged forward, as if he wanted to tear everything into pieces.

Five hours later, Eddie appeared alone by the artificial lake in the university district.

They even kept crocodiles here—supposedly for viewing. Read this novel at g.com for the best experience.

Who knew whether they were actually for Umbrella experiments?

After all, Raccoon City had been built into a modern city with Umbrella’s investment, and half the citizens worked for Umbrella-owned subsidiaries.

Eddie felt deeply apologetic about Annette.

Even though he’d tried his hardest to stop himself, he still hurt her.

Fortunately, no one died.

It was only an injury—Annette would probably need a few days of rest before she recovered.

He didn’t know whether it would affect their cooperation.

This kind of thing could be either minor or massive.

“How do I solve the T-serum’s berserk effect?” Eddie muttered to himself.

“It’s written into the genetic blueprint.

Do I just inject two shots of sedatives every day?”

The serum had succeeded, but it also had flaws.

How to patch the flaw was still a problem.

The flaw wasn’t too severe—he could still restrain it—but if he ignored it, it could easily become a weakness.

“Maybe you could try a herbal extract made from goji berries and vinegar-treated schisandra.” A soft, fragile female voice sounded behind him.

Eddie spun around and grabbed the person by the throat, lifting them up—only to find it was just a seemingly delicate female college student.

“Who are you?”

“Cough—cough!” The girl slapped at Eddie’s hand.

In that state she couldn’t breathe, and she couldn’t speak either.

Eddie thought for a moment and finally set her down.

With a vicious tone, he threatened, “Who are you, and why did you say that?

Tell me, and I’ll make sure you’re fine.

Otherwise, don’t blame me for getting rough.”

The college girl looked scared—she couldn’t understand why this handsome, strong blond guy suddenly became so terrifying.

“I—I’m Yoko Suzuki.

I’m a computer science student, here in Raccoon City for further study.

I heard your question, so I answered without thinking.”

“Computer science?” Eddie immediately seized the hole in her words and pressed.

“Raccoon City doesn’t even have a computer major.

What are you here to ‘study’?”

Yoko Suzuki shook her head, looking confused.

“I don’t know.

I just know there’s something in Raccoon City I need to find.

It’s intuition.

I don’t know why, specifically.”

“Wait—did you say your name is Yoko Suzuki?” Eddie suddenly realized something.

No way… if I’m not mistaken, and judging by that dazed, obedient vibe… then she has to be that person!

It’s not really mandatory—I’ll eventually upload all the chapters here—but it helps a lot in supporting me and allows me to dedicate more time to it.
