After taking two days off, Jill returned to the unit for work again.

She had changed a lot—she seemed a little taller, and noticeably stronger.

Her arms were still as slender as a city girl’s, yet they hid the strength of a thousand pounds.Full novel: Coming Clean Starts with Resident Evil — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Jill, you’re back!” Rebecca walked up with a sweet smile.

“Training has been really busy these days.

You seem… different.”

Jill smiled back.

“How am I different?”

Rebecca tilted her head, thinking.

“It’s like you didn’t change… but also you did.

You’re prettier, and you have more presence—more aura.”

“Is that so?” Jill laughed.

“Rebecca, you really know how to talk.

Come on—I’ll treat you to a really good lunch.”

Jill could feel it too: her condition was much better.

Some of her old little issues had disappeared.

All of it came from that mysterious serum—and it was a gift from her beloved boyfriend.

And after successfully helping Jill complete her serum enhancement, Eddie didn’t leave.

He stayed in the lab, continuing his work—because he still needed to prepare the appropriate enhancement serum for his other girlfriend, Alex Wesker.

Unlike Jill, Alex had an illness that needed to be cured—something that normal scientific methods simply couldn’t treat successfully.

On Eddie’s phone screen was Alex’s pretty face.

The phone itself was a device she had specially provided for contacting Eddie—one that wouldn’t be monitored by anyone else.

“Dear, I’ve already received your data.” Alex smiled, occasionally brushing hair back from her ear, revealing that mature, alluring charm unique to a ‘big sister’ type.

“You surprised me.”

“This data is meant for normal people,” Eddie said into the phone.

“Don’t use it on yourself—use it as reference.

After I finish things here, I’ll come find you and custom-design a special serum just for you.

Your condition is special.

I don’t trust anyone else with it.”

Alex nodded.

“I understand, dear.

I’ll wait for you here.

When you come, I’ll give you a surprise.

I’m also studying a new model serum Spencer provided—maybe it’ll be useful to you.

Be careful.

Spencer has already sent people to deal with Marcus.”

“I know.” Eddie nodded.

“You be careful too.

I’ll hang up now.”

After ending the call, Alex glanced out the window. The source of this chapter is g.com.

All she could see was the sea.

She was on an island, in charge of a project.

The island wasn’t marked on any map—it was Umbrella’s private island.

“Spencer…” Disdain flashed in Alex’s eyes.

“You really think you can use me?

You think I don’t know?

You disgusting old man.” If Eddie hadn’t told her, she would have almost been tricked by Spencer.

This so-called Wesker Project—she herself had been kept in the dark.

Her body, once weak, had improved somewhat, but the genetic defect still existed.

Alex understood her situation.

If she wanted to be cured, she could only rely on her boyfriend, Eddie.

Meanwhile, as Eddie researched serum, he also worked on small, convenient firearms and transportation tools—devices that could be used in a sealed indoor space, and could serve as short-range transport as a substitute for a helicopter.

In the complex environment of the underground research facility, even the vertical elevators alone could drop over a hundred meters.

Relying on a helicopter was unrealistic—no one had ever seen a plane that could fly inside a room.

Tap-tap-tap—Annette’s high heels clicked as she arrived.

During this period, she had still been coming to the lab as usual.

It was as if she didn’t hold a grudge—though whether she truly didn’t, or was just acting, was hard to say.

“What are you doing?” Annette asked, watching Eddie attempt to assemble a mechanical device.

As she spoke, she walked to the cabinet to make coffee.

“Researching something useful,” Eddie said honestly, not hiding anything.

“Sergei told me that in a month I’m supposed to report to Raccoon City’s tactical rescue unit.

I might only be here for a while longer.”

Annette’s hand paused while mixing coffee.

She frowned.

“Why so sudden?

Did he discover something?”

Eddie shook his head.

“No.

I just submitted a reduced version of my research results—cut down.

Spencer has gone somewhere, and he handed everything over to Sergei to handle.

Transferring me to the tactical rescue unit probably means he has some kind of mission for me.

You’re still safe.

No one is watching you.

Aren’t you happier that way?”

Annette handed him the coffee she’d made.

You’re going to the tactical unit?

Did you tell Sergei everything?”

Eddie teased lightly.

“Not used to it—or are you reluctant to let me go?”

Annette raised a brow.

“You’re overthinking.

That’s not it.” She turned her head slightly and brushed her pure-gold hair.

“Before I leave, I’m going to help you once,” Eddie suddenly said, turning serious.

Annette looked confused.

“What do you mean?”

“You need one enhancement,” Eddie said, analyzing calmly.

“If you finish researching the G-serum, then leave quickly.

Don’t linger.

Umbrella is never merciful.

With Dr.

Birkin’s personality, he will never hand over the serum data.”

Annette tensed, then relaxed a little.

She trusted that this friend wasn’t here to seize G-serum data.

“I don’t need it.

Just don’t tell the higher-ups about our situation.”

“I already told you.” Eddie sipped his coffee.

“If it were Alexia at the Antarctic facility, she might be able to develop the G-serum in such a short time.

Dr.

Birkin is smart, but he still can’t fully test the G-serum’s effects yet.

Even when it can truly be extracted is still a question.”

Annette didn’t know whether to feel pleased or resentful at him belittling her husband.

“Then I should thank you.

But I don’t need enhancement.”

“No.” Eddie’s expression was serious.

“As your friend— you helped me.

We should finish what we start.

And trust me: if a sudden incident happens, having serum could save your life!”

“My business is none of yours.

I’ll handle it myself.” Annette turned her head away.

She found it hard to accept a friend’s friendship.

“Refusing won’t help.” Eddie stepped in quickly and knocked Annette out.

Sometimes strength wasn’t for showing off—otherwise accepting serum modification would be meaningless!

Using the strands of hair Annette had left behind, he built a serum at the maximum level her genetic blueprint could withstand—then began cryogenic modification.

It’s not really mandatory—I’ll eventually upload all the chapters here—but it helps a lot in supporting me and allows me to dedicate more time to it.
