The dean of Taman Academy was an old man with white hair and a white beard.

He came rushing out from behind the towering silver gates, his face flushed and full of vitality. On the left side of his neck was an oval blue mark.

He snatched Cang’er from Teacher Qiaohu, grabbed her hand, and pressed it against the glowing pillar slot again.Full novel: Confirmed: The Strongest Wage Slave in the Interstellar Age — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Little one, focus!”

Then, the deep blue beam from the pillar shot straight into the sky, crossing two dividing lines and reaching the top.

“Hahaha, hahahaha… Good, good, good! Heaven bless my Taman City!” He exclaimed three “goods” in a row, parting the dense crowd to make a path, and led Cang’er straight through the academy gates.

Mia, protected by Yasi and Mira, walked out of the crowd. Seeing Cang’er being taken away, she also snatched her little suitcase from Yasi and tried to follow, but Mira held her tightly.

“Miss Mia, the head of the family is still waiting for you. Miss Cang’er won’t be leaving the academy— you’ll see her tomorrow.”

In the blink of an eye, Cang’er’s figure had disappeared behind the gates. There was nothing to do but leave with Yasi and the others.

The black flying car drove into a magnificent estate, a typical European castle design. The tallest main building stood on a vast lawn, surrounded by climbing, blooming red roses. The estate walls enclosed a large area, with a huge lake in the center featuring a tall fountain, where a group of black swans swam gracefully. This was the Gewulia family’s main residence in Taman City.

The flying car descended and stopped on a wide platform. After getting out, Mia ran straight into the arms of a woman dressed in luxurious clothing.

“Grandmother, Mia is back.” The small girl buried herself in the woman’s dark green dress, acting spoiled.

“My little darling, you must be tired from the entrance exam! Come, come, come—Grandmother made your favorite strawberry cake.” Saying this, she took Mia’s small hand and walked toward the estate’s dining hall.

“Good afternoon, Count Gewulia,” Yasi and Mira said, having settled Mia, as they went to salute the family head in his study.

“Yasi, thank you for your hard work. I hear that, aside from Mia, Taman Academy produced another high-level gifted talent this year,” Gewulia said approvingly.

As a long-established noble of Taman City, he naturally had very reliable sources. Less than two hours had passed since Cang’er’s assessment, and he had already received the news—enough to shock the city.

“Yes, Head of the Family. Miss Cang’er is a blue-gifted talent, and her ability is very high—higher than Miss Mia’s,” Yasi replied.

“Oh? Cang’er? It seems you’ve already come into contact with her.” Gewulia’s green eyes sparkled with curiosity.

“Yes, Head of the Family. Miss Cang’er is a friend Mia met on her way back to Taman City—on the aerial coach from Baoyue City to Taman City.”

Fate is mysterious. That day, Miss Mia suddenly had the idea that she had never ridden an aerial coach and wanted to try. So their group canceled their flight tickets and chose the coach instead.

Gewulia seemed to realize this as well. He smiled slightly before asking, “You’ve been staying with Mia in Baoyue City for a long time—do you know her family well?”

“Sorry, Head of the Family. I have never heard of anyone named Cang’er while in Baoyue City, nor is there any prominent family with the surname Cang. I will need some time to investigate,” Yasi replied after some thought, recalling that he had never heard of anyone with that surname in Baoyue City. He added: “Miss Mia really likes Miss Cang’er—they’ve already exchanged contact information.”

“That’s rare. Mia seldom shows affection to strangers she just met. This Cang’er seems interesting.”

“Please conduct the investigation quietly. Do not let Mia know. As long as it’s confirmed that being with Cang’er is safe, it’s rare for Mia to have a friend her own age whom she likes.”

Gewulia had deep and upright features. His tall posture made him appear far younger than his ninetyplus years. He slowly stood up and continued:

“Mira, prepare a set of the entrance supplies for Mia’s friend as well.”

“Yes, Head of the Family.”

“You may leave now—don’t disturb me while I go see my little princess.”
