Two days later, the spacecraft carried them and descended over Mo Sha Star.
“Nine days from now, I’ll be waiting for you at this location.” After saying this, Du Zhong drove them out of the cabin and piloted the spacecraft away.
The sun blazed overhead, and the sky had not a single cloud. Mo Sha Star was a resource planet perpetually dry, where rain occurred only once every few centuries.
As far as the eye could see, there were endless deserts. Cang’er and the others trudged through the black fine sand with difficulty. Except for Qi Ming, the remaining four sank nearly half a foot with every step. The black sand was scorching hot, but they could not afford to remove their shoes.
“According to records, the most abundant metal on Mo Sha Star is Mo Gold, which generally appears in stone-soil layers at least ten meters underground in sand pits.”
Jilin touched the soft black sand beneath his feet and continued, “The sand here is too fine and loose, not suitable for digging straight down. We need to move further in.”
After speaking, he waved and activated the electronic screen on his light-brain device. After confirming the approximate direction, he pointed southeast, where the mineral pits were most densely concentrated.
The group discussed and agreed without objection, heading toward the southeast. Qi Ming went ahead to scout the route, while the four others followed cautiously.
After more than forty minutes of travel, they chose to rest briefly behind a half-weathered giant rock. Mia took out her water bottle, took a small sip, and leaned against the black stone, catching her breath. She was the least physically fit in the group.
“Mo Sha Star doesn’t seem as dangerous as the records say,” Fu An’an said, sitting beside Mia, taking off her shoes to shake out the sand.
Before her words finished, they heard Qi Ming shout: “Prepare for combat!”
Cang’er grabbed the still-unaware Mia and dashed backward. Then they saw dozens of dark purpleblack scorpions emerging from beneath the giant rock, charging toward them.
Jilin, clad in silver-white mech armor, wielded a long spear and was the first to strike at the purple scorpions. “Protect the healer!”
Fu An’an followed closely, her red mech armor blazing like fire under the scorching sun. She whipped her long chain, instantly annihilating a group of purple scorpions. Courageously leaping into the swarm, her feet flew, each lash sweeping a wide area.
Qi Ming quickly returned through the air, holding Cang’er in one hand and Mia in the other, dashing ten meters away and keeping a vigilant watch to ensure their safety.
By now, Mia had fully realized what was happening. Her eyes sparkled as she watched the heroic Fu An’an, excitedly pumping her little fists. It was the first time both she and Cang’er had participated in a team battle, and they were thrilled.
Watching the red and silver mechs darting and flipping through the air, Cang’er gritted her teeth in envy. She wanted her own mech too.
The battle ended in less than ten minutes.
These scorpions were very common creatures on this planet and posed little threat to gifted individuals.
“An’an sister, you’re amazing!” Mia exclaimed excitedly as the two of them approached. “Red talent is so cool!” Even the carefree Fu An’an blushed.
Avery Jilin smiled gently. “Let’s go. We’ll keep moving forward.”
“No rush, we can dig here,” Cang’er said, withdrawing her mental energy and pointing to the ground. From the moment the battle began, she had been using her mental powers to probe, and roughly twelve meters below, there was stone-soil.
Upon hearing this, the others wasted no time and drew their daggers to start digging. Fu An’an and Jilin worked swiftly downward, while Qi Ming manipulated the weight of the sand and stones to move them outside the pit.
“This is it,” Cang’er said, raising her dagger, her eyes bright. She worked tirelessly to clear the sand and stones above, revealing the purple edge of Mo Gold. Jilin came over to help, and soon they threw out a fist-sized chunk of the purple metal.
Encouraged, they continued and extracted six pieces of Mo Gold of varying sizes from the sand pit. Cang’er stored them in the Biyou Ring. It was getting late, so they decided to set up camp tonight in the leeward side of the giant rock.
They arranged for Jilin and Cang’er to keep watch while the others rested.
