But Kelvin’s girlfriend showing up?

Now that’s like an icing to the cake.

It’s really her.

I’m not mistaken.

My heart drops to my stomach when I remember the photos.

The woman Kelvin was talking to.

Probably the love of his life, because who was I to him anyway?

A decoy?

The side piece?

A transaction?

Was this also part of their plan?

Or is she going against the plan?

But if I hadn’t found out about Kelvin’s deeds, would this have been the part where I get my heart broken at the altar?

Thank goodness I found out earlier.

Because I don’t know how I would have handled it at the altar.

It still hurts, I can’t deny it.

I can’t be numb.

I can’t switch everything off when a day ago the man standing at the altar with me was my everything.

When the thought of spending the rest of my life with him gave me butterflies.

My world started and ended with him.

Gosh I gave him my heart.

All of it.

Only to end up like this?

And where the hell is Devan?

What’s taking him so long?

Or did he back off from the plan?

Did he change his mind?

The thought of it makes my heart shift.

No, he can’t.

He was so serious about making Kelvin pay.

Besides, he was also benefiting from this.

And there’s a contract.

The blonde walks towards the altar as whispers fill the air.

Once she’s close, she takes Kelvin’s hand and he avoids it.

“Don’t do it, my love,” she says.

“We could just run away and start over. All this drama isn’t necessary.”

I cross my arms in front of my chest.

“My love, huh?” I say, glaring at Kelvin.

“Who are you?” Kelvin asks the woman.

I soft laugh escapes my lips.

He’s really going to play it that way?

“Kelvin, please,” the woman pleads.

Kelvin looks at me and I lift my brows.

“Forgot to tell me something?”

“Scarlet, I promise, I don’t know who this woman is,” he defends.

This is ridiculous.

“Well, well, Kelvin, apart from being a good doctor, I didn’t know you were a talented actor, too.”

“Stay away from this,” the blonde warns.

“You’re the reason he’s different these days.”

Bile rises to my throat.

How dare she?

I didn’t even know of her existence until a few hours ago. You are reading on g.com, the official source.

Now she’s trying to pin the blame on me.

For all I know, they must have been conspiring together.

“Scarlet please, you’ve got to believe me,” Kelvin still pleads.

His pleas land on deaf ears.

There’s nothing he could say to make me believe him.

I already know what I need to know.

He’s a liar, a pretender and a manipulator.

“I used to believe you, actually. And you took advantage of that. There’s no need to pretend, Kelvin. I already know everything. And by everything, I mean, everything.”

“What?” Says Kelvin.

He’s still pretending.

Great.

Taking me for a fool, I see.

“I know about your plans, and I know about your mistress,” I say pointing at the woman.

“I’m not his mistress. I’m his real girlfriend,” the woman defends.

“Yeah, and I don’t care.” I turn back to Kelvin.

“You’re not getting anything from me,” I declare.

The woman grabs Kelvin’s hands and he swats her away.

He reaches out to me and cups my cheeks.

“Baby, please,” he says.

I try to shove his hands off me but he’s too strong.

“Get your hands off my wife,” a deep voice resounds in the air and everyone turns to the entrance.

My husband is here.

My father is up from his seat.

What could he have done?

I didn’t think I’d say this, but maybe this woman coming here was for the best.

Devan walks in, so l confidently like it’s his wedding.

He’s in a black tux that makes him look like a snack.

Scratch that.

He looks like a five-star meal.

Under different circumstances, I would have taken my time to admire him.

I should just save it for later.

All eyes are on him as he approaches.

My lips curve into a smile as I watch everything unfold.

“Your wife?” Kelvin asks, shock and confusion written all over his face.

“Do your ears suffer the same condition as your brain?” Devan asks, and I have to hold back my laughter.

“Who the hell are you? And who the hell do you think you are?” Kelvin asks him.

“I’m Devan Galloway. And I’m exactly who I think I am. Most importantly you are harassing my wife and I don’t take that kindly.”

Kelvin looks at me.

“Do you know him?”

I smile as I say, “Yes I do. He’s my husband.”

Kelvin moves a step back and rakes a hand through his hair.

“Is this a joke?”

“Do you see my teeth?” Devan asks before I can respond.

“Scarlet. What’s the meaning of all this?” Kelvin still asks.

“Well, Kelvin, since it’s been proven that you have a slow brain, I’ll explain this to you. I’m married. To Devan Galloway. I believe you’ve had about him unless you live under a rock. I can’t get married to you, because I’m already married, I’m not sure you’re following.”

“You’re not serious,” he says.

“Oh, I am serious. Just like my marriage is.”

He narrows his eyes at me.

“I don’t believe you.”

“You don’t?” I shake my head.

“Honey, let’s give him the proof he needs.”

Just then, Matias walks in and more gasps fill the air.

He hands the certificates over to Kelvin.

“I’m sure you can recognize my signature.”

Kelvin’s eyes run all over the documents, and his expression is everything I wanted.

Yes.

Got you, you cheating scambarg. Find the original chapter at g.com.

“So, you’ve been lying to me all this time?” Kelvin asks, as Matias snatches the documents from him.

“Oh, have I?” I put a hand on my chest.

“That’s so horrible of me,” I say, rolling my eyes.

I look at the blonde who’s in awe, just like the rest of the congregation.

“Can you explain to me who she is?” I ask him.

“Like I told you, I don’t know who the woman is. And why are you trying to flip the story when you’re the one who’s married?”

“Kelvin,” the blond calls out, and she’s ignored.

“Oh, so you don’t know who she is? Who’s the liar now?”

Matias hands him the photos from earlier.

He looks at them with widened pupils.

“Where did you get these? Have you been stalking me?”

“Your double standards are disgusting,” I mutter.

“Scarlet, please,” he reaches for my hand.

Devan grabs him.

“Touch her again and your teeth will be on the floor.”

“Scarlet,” my father calls out.

“Could you please explain to me what’s going on?”

“I’m sorry dad. But it’s true. Kelvin is not who we thought he was and I’m married.”

My father looks at Devan and then back at me.

“To the Devan Galloway.”

“Is that a problem?” Devan asks.

I take his hand.

“It’s okay. My father means no harm. Right dad?”

I promise myself, I’ll fill him in on everything, just not right now.

I know this is shocking to everyone, but they’ll just have to bear with me.

And my husband.

While we put Kelvin in his place.

Kelvin’s mother joins the chat.

“What game is this Scarlet? You’re married? What were you planning to do to my son?”

Oh my God.

I massage my temples.

I’m surely not ready for this kind of drama.

“And your son is the honest one?” I ask.

Boom!

A loud bang cuts through the air, making people scream.

My heart paces fast as that startled me, too.

The church goes into chaos.

“Silence!” Matias shouts, and only then do I realize he was the one who shot the gun up.

“We’re not going to hurt anyone. Except for those who touch my wife. The wedding is over.” Devan announces.

I blink a few times.

This was not part of the plan.

“Trust me, okay?” He whispers in my ear.

“This argument will not end any time soon. We should get going. I have an emergency. And I’m not leaving you here with this wolf.”

Emergency.

I forgot the kind of man I’m married to.

He’s right, if we keep exchanging words this will not end any time this year.

The most important thing is that my message has been passed, and Kelvin’s plan has been destroyed.

I look at my father.

The shock he had earlier is replaced by something else.

Fear.

It breaks my heart.

I hug him as I whisper.

“Everything is okay, dad. I’ll fill you in as soon as possible. I promise.”

It doesn’t do much, and I totally get it.

Devan looks at the perplexed Kelvin and says, “Time to take what’s rightfully mine.” He then turns to me and offers a hand, “Shall we?”
