When Kaedehara Tōru returned to his dormitory entrance, it had already grown dark.

The dormitory hallway was exceptionally quiet, with only Kaedehara Tōru’s footsteps echoing through the empty space.

As he neared his room, his footsteps stopped.Full novel: COTE: Survival in Class A — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He saw a slender figure leaning against the wall next to his door.

The person was wearing the same school uniform as him, and her long purple hair was particularly dazzling under the lights.

She had her arms crossed over her chest, head bowed, seemingly looking at her own toes.

Kamuro Masumi.

Hearing the footsteps, she slowly raised her head and looked straight at Kaedehara Tōru.

“It seems I haven’t returned too late.”

Kaedehara Tōru showed no sign of surprise; he walked to the door, pulled his room card from his pocket, and prepared to open it.

His tone was as casual as if he were greeting a friend he had an appointment with.

“How did you know my room was here?”

He swiped the card lightly against the door lock sensor, and with a soft “beep”, the lock disengaged.

“Your room number?

It was easy enough to find out by asking a classmate from Class A who lives on this floor.”

Kamuro Masumi spoke as if she were merely stating a fact.

She straightened up from the wall, her movements slightly stiff, suggesting she had been waiting for quite some time.

Kaedehara Tōru pushed the door open and turned on the room lights, illuminating the space.

“Come in.” He stepped aside, clearing the path.

Kamuro Masumi did not hesitate; she stepped past him, a scent mingling the clean smell of shampoo and a girl’s natural fragrance brushing past Kaedehara Tōru’s nose.

She walked into the room, not looking around, and simply stood still to the side.

Kaedehara Tōru closed the door, the “click” of the lock engaging automatically sounding exceptionally clear in the quiet room.

He took off his jacket, tossed it carelessly onto a chair, then turned and leaned against the wall, observing the silent Kamuro Masumi with interest.

“Kamuro-san, you’ve got some nerve.

Coming alone to the boys’ dormitory floor late at night and even entering a boy’s room.”

His voice carried a hint of teasing.

“Aren’t you afraid… something might happen?”

Kamuro Masumi finally reacted, raising her eyelids.

In those eyes, there was none of the nervousness Kaedehara Tōru had expected, only a kind of calm and a certain… determination.

“I came here to repay you.”

Her voice remained steady, but her knuckles, clenched at her sides, were slightly white from the force.

“Repay me?”

Kaedehara Tōru raised an eyebrow.

“Oh… those 200,000 points, how do you plan to repay them? This chapter is updated first at g.com.

I don’t charge interest, you know.”

“The points… I will repay you.”

Kamuro Masumi’s lips moved.

“But I can’t give them all to you in a short time… regardless, I won’t short you a single point.”

Kaedehara Tōru spread his hands.

“So, you’re here now to draw up a promissory note with me?”

Kamuro Masumi did not answer his question.

She took a deep breath, as if using all her strength, and then…

Under Kaedehara Tōru’s gaze, she raised her hand and unbuttoned the top button of her school uniform shirt.

The smile on Kaedehara Tōru’s face didn’t change, but his gaze darkened slightly.

Her fingers trembled slightly, but she did not stop her movements.

The second, the third… as the buttons were undone one by one, the shirt opened to the sides, revealing the pure white underwear beneath.

She did not stop; after undoing all the buttons, she began to slide the shirt off her shoulders.

“Wait.”

Just as the shirt was about to slip off her shoulders, Kaedehara Tōru spoke.

His voice wasn’t loud, but it caused Kamuro Masumi’s movements to freeze instantly.

She raised her head, a trace of confusion finally appearing in her eyes.

Kaedehara Tōru slowly walked up to her, the distance between them close enough that they could feel each other’s breath.

He did not look at her exposed skin, his gaze locked tightly onto her eyes.

“I’ll ask you a question, Kamuro.”

His tone became serious.

“Are you doing this now just because you want to simply ‘repay’ me for helping you with the theft incident, treating it as a transaction to complete?

Or is it because… you truly have feelings for me other than ‘gratitude’?”

Kamuro Masumi’s body trembled violently.

This question opened up the heart she had wrapped in coldness and determination.

A transaction?

Or feelings?

She couldn’t even tell herself.

When he told her, your secret is safe with me.

A complex emotion she had never experienced before—a mix of relief, dependency, and a certain pathological obsession—had long since taken root in her heart.

She looked into Kaedehara Tōru’s eyes; he seemed to truly care about her answer.

“…Both.”

After a long time, she squeezed these two words from her throat.

Her voice was weak, yet exceptionally clear.

“The points, I will repay.

But that takes time.” She lowered her eyes, looking at her open shirt, a hint of self-mockery in her voice.

“And right now, the only thing I can offer immediately that might have some value to you… is this.

It is the fastest and most effective way to repay you.”

Her words were full of cold, utilitarian logic.

But that “both” exposed the genuine, unhideable emotion beneath her logic.

Kaedehara Tōru fell silent for a moment upon hearing this.

Then, he smiled.

It was a smile from the heart, carrying a hint of pleasure and satisfaction.

This was the answer he wanted.

A completely conquered soul was far more interesting than a body offered up as a transaction.

He didn’t say anything more, instead reaching out and gently lifting Kamuro Masumi’s chin with his fingertips, forcing her to look up and meet his gaze.

“Since that’s the case… let me see just how much sincerity is in your ‘repayment’.”

After saying this, he lowered his head and kissed her cold lips.

Kamuro Masumi’s body stiffened instantly; she had never had such intimate contact with a person of the opposite sex, and her mind went blank.

Kaedehara Tōru’s lips still carried a hint of coffee scent.

His kiss was not gentle; it was aggressively invasive, his tongue prying open her teeth, driving straight in, and plundering wantonly.

“Mmph…”

Kamuro Masumi let out a whimper from her throat, instinctively wanting to retreat, but her back was pressed against the door panel, leaving her nowhere to go.

Kaedehara Tōru’s hand had wrapped around her waist at some point, holding her tightly against his chest.

The kiss lasted a long time, so long that Kamuro Masumi felt the air in her lungs was about to be drained before Kaedehara Tōru finally released her, seemingly unsatisfied.

A thin thread of saliva stretched between them, faintly visible under the light.

Kamuro Masumi gasped for breath, an unnatural flush rising on her cheeks.

“It’s not too late to regret it now.” His voice sounded in her ear.

Kamuro Masumi did not speak, simply closing her eyes silently before opening them again.

She took the initiative to raise her hands, wrapping them around Kaedehara Tōru’s neck, answering with her actions.

From tonight on, she, Kamuro Masumi, belonged only to Kaedehara Tōru.
