There were too many people.
Lu Wu had prepared plenty, but it still felt like it wouldn’t be enough to go around.
She saw some Flower Girls neglecting their own business just to stand here and queue. The complicated looks from the madams made Lu Wu’s conscience ache a little.
Who would have thought a Baozi Shop could compete with the flower houses for business?
“Ah, two isn’t enough! Boss, can you remove the limit?”
Someone complained.
For a cultivator’s appetite, two buns were just a drop in the bucket. They hadn’t even had enough to properly savor the taste.
“We have money!”
Someone took out a bag of spirit stones and showed it to Lu Wu.
“I just want to make sure everyone gets a chance to eat. Anyway, I’ll be here for the next few days, so there’s no need to panic,” Lu Wu explained.
Her business was just too explosive, and there were too many customers. What could she do?
Muttering to herself, Lu Wu placed the freshly steamed buns on the counter and waved her hand grandly. “Here they are! Open for business!”
“Boss Lu, two Dousha Bao!”
Furong swallowed as she gazed at the tender white buns.
Because of Lu Wu’s movement, the steamer basket was jostled, and the white dough encasing the buns quivered a few times, looking as tender and supple as a baby’s cheek.
She almost wanted to reach out and give them a pinch.
She had wanted to try the other flavors, too.
But Furong touched her face with a hint of regret. Her face was more important; she absolutely could not let the other little sprites steal her position as the top sister of Yanliu Street.
“Alright, here you go, Sister.”
Lu Wu smiled and handed them over. She watched as Furong, under the covetous glares of the crowd, moved aside and squatted down to eat.
She broke one open, and the rising steam was blown away.
The glossy, lustrous red bean paste lay nestled within the white dough, like peach blossoms blooming in a mountain forest in spring.
Taking a small bite, a sweet flavor exploded in her mouth. It was sweet but not cloying, and Furong’s eyes crinkled in delight.
Some of the other Flower Girls looked at Furong with envy.
To be honest, aside from their special uses, the buns themselves were also incredibly delicious—the kind that gets you hooked after just one bite.
“I’ll have one Dousha Bao and one Sprite—ah, no, one Yāozi Bāo.”
Lou Xiaotian rubbed his hands together. He definitely wasn’t eating the Yāozi Bāo to replenish his kidneys; it was clearly the Sprite Bun that was seducing him.
As the two of them began to eat, the aromas in the air started to intertwine.
Many “gulping” sounds echoed through the scene.
Some customers who had come on an empty stomach clutched their abdomens, their faces looking miserable.
Still, no one rushed Lu Wu.
The commotion here had attracted quite a few people.
This street was not short on customers.
A young cultivator who should have been enjoying himself at a flower house walked over after seeing the activity here.
While still on the periphery, he was dazed by the fragrance.
Seeing that the queue had already formed two lines and that waiting properly would take who knows how long, he thought for a moment and decided to take a shortcut.
“Brother, how about I pay you two spirit stones to buy one of your buns?”
The young man offered the spirit stones and looked expectantly at a customer, only to be met with a glare.
The customer couldn’t even be bothered to speak, simply taking a bite out of his other bun.
Meat juices splattered, and the aroma hit the young man full in the face.
Silently rejected, the young man tried to use his money-flashing technique on others, but most of them refused.
Finally, when the price reached ten spirit stones for one, someone wavered.
“I’m only selling one!”
The customer reluctantly handed over a bun. Seeing the young man eagerly start to eat, his expression turned extremely pained.
Sob, sob, sob, could he say he regretted it? He hadn’t even tried the Little Innocence yet.
This bun was so damn delicious!
Seeing this person successfully “cut in line,” the other wealthy people followed suit, but now no one on the scene was willing.
For cultivators, one spirit stone was not a big deal; they used far more than that in their daily cultivation.
But these buns, on the other hand, were a rare treat.
This bun boss was only selling for a few days. If they missed out, it was gone for good. They weren’t foolish enough to trade them for money.
“Delicious!”
The young man, who had been taking small bites, stuffed the last bit into his mouth. He shamelessly licked the remaining meat juices from his fingers and consciously walked to the end of the line.
Like the young man, quite a few people were conquered by these buns.
Once Lu Wu got busy, she didn’t stop. Even when Lou Xiaotian tried to chat with her, she had no time to reply.
“Click, clack!”
After a few sounds, Lu Wu looked up in a daze and saw a familiar face standing in front of her stall, “taking pictures” of her.
“Old Man Li, what are you doing here?”
Lu Wu was slightly surprised. Wasn’t this the old man from next door?
The old man was hale and hearty for his age, but surely not hearty enough to come to this kind of place for entertainment.
Under Lu Wu’s inexplicable gaze, the corner of Old Man Li’s mouth twitched.
“What are you thinking? I followed you here to promote your business.”
Having uploaded the “photos,” the old man gestured for Lu Wu to continue, then walked toward the queue.
“Old Man Li, you’re here! You can have my spot. When I buy the buns, we can split them, one for each of us.”
“Come here, come here! You can have both of mine, Old Man Li. I’ll just queue again!”
To Lu Wu’s astonishment, the cultivators who had just refused to bow to spirit stones were now voluntarily giving up their spots, and they were all spots near the front.
This development made Lu Wu look at Old Man Li in a new light.
Your grandpa is still your grandpa.
He was no simple man!
Lu Wu marveled, but she didn’t interfere.
It was a mutually willing affair, so why should she meddle?
The old man ultimately accepted the offer from the person who gave up both buns. He stood smiling in the line with his hands behind his back, looking like an enlightened master.
If it weren’t for the fact that he kept glancing at the Universal Realm Communicator in his hand and then letting out a lewd grin.
While Lu Wu was busy as a bee, on the Universal Realm Communicator’s Xiaohe Town board, the post about the Flower Girls that should have sunk was once again dredged up.
It had been reposted by the old man.
As the strongest gossipmonger, Old Man Li was very famous on the Universal Realm Communicator.
Many of his exposés were eventually confirmed to be true, giving his identity a great deal of authority.
“True!”
The post, now certified by Old Man Li, quickly garnered attention, shooting up into more people’s view like a rocket.
Whether to verify its authenticity or to try the buns, many people from out of town were now preparing to rush to Xiaohe Town.
Completely unaware, Lu Wu was immersed in the labor of making buns, selling buns, and continuing to make more buns.
She wiped the sweat from her forehead and looked at the rapidly increasing mission progress on her system, a brilliant smile on her face.
Her customers were truly amazing.
Not long after the buns entered their stomachs, certain effects began to manifest.
Many of the customers who had come for that reason exchanged glances and then tacitly rushed toward the flower houses they had their eyes on.
“Mudan, my dear, your man is here!”
“Tonight… hehehe!”
It had to be said, food and sex were basic human nature.
Some others simply entered the nearby Baihua House. The massive increase in customer traffic made the Baihua House madam, who had been wearing a sour face, look at Lu Wu as if she were seeing a living Bodhisattva.
She even took the initiative to have the Flower Girls who weren’t currently with clients go and queue up to boost Lu Wu’s popularity.
“Anyone who has eaten Boss Lu’s buns gets a ten percent discount on all services at Baihua House tonight!”
The madam was adept at seizing opportunities.
Under the temptation of the discount, the Flower Girls of Baihua House were about to face a sleepless night.
