“Bang—!”
The Herrera slammed heavily onto the roof of a residential house.
Dust billowed into the air as broken tiles flew in all directions.
A massive dent was crushed into the corrugated metal roof, sending violent tremors through the entire structure.
On the roof.
A family of three was gathered around a barbecue grill.
The father in a tank top held a pair of grill tongs, his wife’s hand holding a drink cup froze mid-air, and their seven- or eight-year-old son was still chewing on a piece of grilled meat.
Staring at this steel beast that had fallen from the sky, their jaws dropped in unison.
You could drive like this in Night City?!
Not only was this family dumbfounded, but the 6th Street gang members were equally stunned.
The SUVs giving hot pursuit behind slammed on their brakes in unison.
Sunglasses couldn’t help but take off his sunglasses, his mouth gaping wide enough to fit a fist.
“Crap!”
Jake had no time to pay attention to the surrounding crowd’s astonishment.
He stomped hard on the gas.
Under the terrified and heartbroken gaze of the homeowner, the Herrera launched itself off the other side of the roof once more!
Bang!
Another loud crash.
The front of the car shattered the water tank on top of another low-rise building, plastic fragments flying everywhere.
Next came the third building, the fourth…
Like a mad bull, accompanied by the tearing of metal sheets and the screams of residents, the Herrera rampaged across the rooftops of the residential district.
Until a highway appeared ahead.
The Herrera leaped down from the roof of the last low-rise building, all four wheels slamming heavily onto the asphalt road.
The car body shuddered violently a few times before shooting forward with stability.
The battered Herrera was practically scrapped after this ordeal.
Puffs of white smoke were already spewing from the front engine, giving off a pungent smell.
Jake was an experienced gamer.
One look and he knew—this thing was about to blow!
He quickly abandoned the car.
Instead of rushing to steal another vehicle, he turned his head to look back in the direction of 6th Street.
Those two 6th Street SUVs were still parked beside the broken guardrail, making no further move.
Giving up the chase?
A heavy weight lifted off David’s chest.
Although driving the car onto people’s rooftops was crazy, at least they survived.
While they weren’t chasing, time to keep fleeing!
Jack a car, head straight into the Badlands—with the world so vast, who could possibly find him?
David wanted to leave.
However, Jake had no intention of calling it quits here.
The reason 6th Street was hunting them didn’t take a genius to figure out.
It was definitely because he killed their men under the overpass this morning.
Could he really just let these guys live?
David’s apartment was in Santo Domingo.
If 6th Street didn’t die, he couldn’t sleep in peace!
He couldn’t even log off with a clear mind.
Who knew when this save file might get deleted out of nowhere!
Therefore, far from continuing his escape, Jake raised the Ajax assault rifle once again.
…
On the highway.
Sunglasses leaned against the car window, looking at the smoking Herrera in the distance, then turned to look at the bald guy beside him.
“Boss, still chasing?”
He swallowed hard, his tone devoid of its previous arrogance: “Feels like we can’t catch him…”
The bald guy said nothing.
He stared at the figure crawling out of the wrecked car in the distance, his brow deeply furrowed.
This kid’s skills were way too good.
Escaping from the clinic entrance, counter-killing two men while pinched from front and back, and now pulling off a roof-flying stunt to get away…
this wasn’t something an ordinary street kid could pull off.
If they kept chasing, he felt like shit was gonna hit the fan.
“How about…”
The bald guy wanted to call it off for now and re-evaluate later.
It wouldn’t be too late to take revenge once they figured out this kid’s background.
Before the words could leave his mouth—
Whew—!
A bullet whistled through the air, hitting him square in the chest.
The bald guy groaned.
His knees slammed heavily onto the ground as blood gushed from the bullet hole, instantly soaking his leather jacket.
“Boss!”
Sunglasses’ face changed drastically as he rushed over to support him: “Boss!
How are you holding up?!”
The bald guy glanced down at the bloody hole in his chest, then looked up into the distance.
The muzzle of the Ajax in David’s hand was spewing blue smoke.
“Son of a bitch!”
Trembling all over from the sharp pain, the bald guy forced out a few words through gritted teeth: “Fucking kill him for me!!!”
“Yes!”
Sunglasses grabbed his submachine gun and solemnly relayed the order to the surrounding lackeys: “Chase him!
Kill that little punk!”
The engines of both SUVs roared simultaneously, pouncing toward David’s direction like two mad dogs.
Jake was thoroughly satisfied with 6th Street’s reaction.
“Time to move.”
He was definitely going to kill these guys, but not right now.
His target was clear.
An olive-green Thorton Galena—sturdy and durable—was parked by the curb.
Jake walked right up, opened the door, yanked the driver out of the seat, and delivered two swift punches before claiming the car as his own.
Before all this, David wouldn’t have even dared to imagine doing such a thing.
Yet now, he was actually getting somewhat used to it.
The devil’s means of corrupting people were truly terrifying!
Vroom—!
Jake slammed the gas pedal to the floor, driving toward Watson Northside.
The Galena sped along the highway.
From far behind, those two SUVs could still be vaguely seen, hanging on like lingering shadows.
As time passed…
The Galena entered Watson.
Outside the windows, the architectural style on both sides of the street began to shift.
From abandoned factories and storage warehouses, it gradually transformed into dense low-rise apartment buildings and neon signs.
Jake drove while occasionally glancing at the minimap in the top right corner.
He had been actively avoiding accidental encounters with NCPD along the way, and the star finally flickered a few times before disappearing.
“Wanted level cleared,” Jake muttered to himself.
“Feels like it took a bit long…”
David rolled his eyes in his mind.
You’re actually afraid of that?
Still, NCPD calling off the chase brought a noticeable sense of relief to his heart.
David stared at the rearview mirror.
Now only this trouble remained…
Those two stars-and-stripes painted SUVs were like two rabid, starving dogs, still snapping at his heels a few hundred meters away.
In fact, along the way, this lunatic had more than one opportunity to completely lose them.
But every time the distance opened up, he would intentionally ease off the gas, letting the Galena slow down until the 6th Street pursuers closed back in before accelerating away again.
He was baiting them.
David could see right through it.
What he couldn’t figure out, though, was why this guy didn’t just fight them directly.
And where was he trying to lead 6th Street?
What on earth was in Watson Northside?
Not only did David realize it, but 6th Street came to the exact same realization.
“Damn it, this kid is playing us!” Sunglasses slammed his hand hard against the steering wheel.
The bald guy beside him had undergone crude bandaging; the blood on his chest was temporarily stemmed.
“Where is he trying to lead us…”
Grit his teeth, the bald guy stared at the faint taillights flickering ahead: “Watson Northside is Maelstrom turf.
Is he trying to kill us with a borrowed knife?”
“Boss, how about we pull back?”
Sunglasses swallowed hard: “This place feels wrong.”
“Pull back my ass!”
The bald guy slapped him on the back of his head, irritating the wound on his chest and wincing in pain: “Several brothers are dead!
If we don’t chop this kid into a thousand pieces, how are we supposed to make a living in Santo Domingo after this?!”
Panting heavily, he pulled out his phone and dialed a number.
“Hey?
It’s me.”
“Mobilize all backup squads.
I’m sending the location to your phone.”
“Yeah, Watson Northside.
I want him alive…
no, dead works too.”
Hanging up the phone.
The bald guy glared sinisterly at the Galena up ahead.
“Follow him!”
“I want to see where the hell he thinks he can run!”
