Knock, knock, knock.

High above the city, Lucy tapped on the faceplate of the Model 85.

He did not understand what she wanted, but he retracted the mask anyway.

The next second, she kissed him without warning.

Under the moonlight, she looked almost dangerously beautiful.

“Rook, this is the most exciting day of my life.” She wrapped her arms around his neck again, her voice bright with adrenaline.

“I never thought I’d fly over Night City.”

A softer smile tugged at his lips.

“Time to land.

Hold on, Lucy.”

The thrusters slowed, and he started descending toward the city.

As they passed over City Center, movement on the Biotechnica tower caught his eye.

Someone had jumped from the building.

Gunshots cracked behind them, and a body dropped fast through the night.

“Who breaks into Biotechnica this late, then jumps from that high?

Are they trying to die?”

Rook angled toward the falling figure.

He wanted to know who had been reckless enough to raid Biotechnica and throw themselves off the roof.

In his memory, the only person in 2076 foolish enough for that kind of stunt should have been David Martinez.

Rook froze for a split second.

“Sasha.”

The woman in front of him was the netrunner from the old Cyberpunk promo, Maine’s previous hacker.

After her death, Kiwi joined Maine’s crew, and later introduced Lucy to them.

He recognized her instantly.

Lucy’s excitement vanished when she saw Sasha.

Her expression turned thoughtful and closed off.

Sasha, who had been falling with a strangely peaceful look, stared at the two people flying beside her in complete disbelief.

‘People are jumping in groups now?’

That thought barely had time to form before shock took over.

Rook caught her gently against him, the thrusters flared, and he carried both women away from the Biotechnica tower.

He landed in an empty alley and withdrew the armor at once.

“Are women in this city all this brave?” he snapped.

“One of you targets Arasaka employees for chips.

The other plants a bomb in a corpo tower and jumps off the roof?”

“Hey, I’m nothing like her,” Lucy shot back.

“I steal to live.”

Sasha was still staring as if the entire scene might be a hallucination before death.

“Hey.”

He waved a hand in front of her face.

He had only seen Sasha in footage before.

Back then, she had left an impression.

Storming Biotechnica alone and jumping off the building was not exactly rational behavior.

Fortunately, she came back to herself quickly.

She bowed to both of them with surprising politeness.

“Thank you for saving me.

My name is Sasha.”

‘So it really is her.’

He was about to ask what had happened when a car tore into the alley.

It drifted hard, then stopped cleanly in front of them.

A massive man stepped out.

A large revolver came from his waist, and the black muzzle leveled at Rook and Lucy.

He pulled Lucy behind him and looked at the man coldly.

“A solo from Night City.

No, I guess you’re Maine’s crew chief now.

Is pointing a gun how you greet people?”

The man aiming at him was Maine, Lucy’s future crew chief, the same man the military-grade Sandevistan had originally been meant for before it ended up with David Martinez.

Maine ignored the question and moved to Sasha’s side.

“Sasha.

You okay?

Who are they?

I saw someone fly off with you.

I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
