“Jig-Street?”

Seeing Rain and Canris’s destination, V and the nearby team members were a bit stunned, obviously not expecting the two to come here.

“Could it be he’s had too much high-end stuff and wants to try the street stalls?”

“Alright, alright, stop guessing.

They’ve parked, let’s see where they’re going.”

Hearing the guys around her talking more and more ridiculously, V couldn’t help but interrupt, then got out of the car and approached the direction where Rain and Canris were, choosing a spot with discretion to avoid any misunderstanding.

“Canris, go down and see if that guy has arrived.”

“Copy that, Boss.”

After responding, Canris stepped out of the car and used his Cybereye’s scanning function to look around.

Then he saw a shifty figure.

Raising an eyebrow, Canris walked straight toward the person.

“Hey.”

“Eek!”

Startled, Kochi let out a strange cry, but quickly realized Canris’s identity and breathed a long sigh of relief.

“Phew…

couldn’t you be more careful…”

Canris curled his lip at the words and tilted his head toward the Chevillon Thrax over there.

“Boss is waiting for you over there.”

“I-I understand.”

Kochi was suddenly nervous; he still remembered the scene when he met Rain before.

At that time, Rain had just finished a purge mission, and the scene…

it could be said to be quite unpleasant…

severed limbs and blood everywhere.

Kochi guaranteed he had never seen such a spectacle in his life, and he didn’t want to see it a second time…

After Canris opened the car door, Kochi obediently sat inside.

“M-Mr.

Rain…”

“Mm, did you bring the items?”

“I-I brought part of them; the other part I’ve put in a safe place.”

“Understandable.

Your request has been granted by the higher-ups.

After the transaction today, we will arrange for someone to send you out of Night City.”

“Then I’m relieved…”

Kochi breathed a sigh of relief but still hugged the files in his arms tightly.

“Let’s verify the goods first.

Let me see what you’ve brought now.”

“O-okay…”

Kochi nodded and handed the files in his arms to Rain.

But before Rain could take the files, a loud boom echoed from outside.

Canris’s reaction was extremely fast the moment he heard the explosion, reaching across the seat to grab Kochi by the collar.

“Bastard, you dare sell us out?!”

“N-no, it’s not me!

You have to believe me, I’m not stupid enough to sell out Arasaka after betraying Militech!!”

Kochi’s face was filled with terror as he frantically waved his hands, not daring to delay for a second at a time like this; his life was on the line!

“Calm down, Canris.”

Rain calmly reached out and grabbed Canris’s wrist, signaling him to let go.

Meanwhile, the Cybereye in Rain’s socket emitted a blue light, clearly scanning Kochi.

“Now, show me your Neural Link.”

“This…” Visit g.com for the full chapter.

Kochi hesitated for a second but quickly gritted his teeth and revealed the interface.

“Plug in.”

Rain tilted his head toward Canris, who nodded and connected to Kochi’s interface.

“Now, I ask, you answer.”

“U-understood.”

Kochi nodded.

“Does the explosion outside have anything to do with you?”

“No, absolutely not.”

“Boss, he’s not lying.”

“Tell me if he does.”

“Do you have any trackers installed by Militech on you?”

“N-no.”

“Is the data faked?”

“It’s absolutely real!”

“Alright.”

Rain gave Canris a look, indicating he could disconnect.

“Phew…”

Kochi also relaxed; although he knew he hadn’t done anything wrong, he would still be a bit panicked in this situation.

“I hope you can understand.”

“U-understood…”

Kochi nodded, though what he was thinking in his heart…

that was hard to say.

However, since he was in a weaker position, he wouldn’t be so tactless; he could only curse those bastards who caused the explosion in his mind.

“Canris, contact those guys outside and ask them what the situation is.”

“Copy that, Boss.”

Canris nodded and dialed V’s number.

Meanwhile, V was extremely alert because of the sudden explosion.

Seeing an unknown communication suddenly appear, she became even more cautious, but relaxed slightly after seeing it was an internal corp line.

“Who is this?”

After hesitating for a moment, V chose to answer the call.

“My name is Canris.

Our Boss wants you to find out what happened outside.”

“Your Boss?”

V was stunned for a moment.

“Rain Vermilles, Minister of the Special Operations Department.”

After speaking, Canris hung up the call.

A slightly embarrassed expression appeared on V’s face; she had been caught red-handed while monitoring, and after being caught, she was even sent to investigate the situation…

she guaranteed this was the most awkward thing she had ever experienced.

“Ahem, stop the surveillance, we have work to do.”

“Ah?

What work?”

A team member beside V looked at her in confusion, clearly not knowing what she meant.

“Ahem, our dear Minister Rain has already discovered us.

He wants us to see what’s going on with the explosion over there.

Two of you stay here, the rest come with me.”

Hearing this, the group looked at each other, seeing resignation in each other’s eyes.

However, they didn’t refuse; who told him to be so many ranks above them?

Meanwhile, on the other side of Jig-Street, a fierce shootout was breaking out.

“Fuck, I said making a move here was a damn mistake, Maine!”

“I’m listening!”

At the same time, Pilar, who had been hiding in the corner, also popped her head out.

Next, seven or eight flashbangs flew out from the corner toward the Tyger Claws not far away.

Bang!

“Die, you bastards!!!”

The moment the flashbangs went off, Rebecca suddenly pulled out two pistols and rushed out, spraying bullets forward.

In an instant, several Tyger Claws who took the full brunt had their skulls split open by bullets, red and white matter splashing everywhere.

Just then, a Tyger Claw who had escaped the blast suddenly lunged from a corner and aimed his Umbra at Rebecca’s head.

But just as he was about to fire, a sharp pain came from his neck.

“Aaaaaagh!!!”

Flames instantly consumed his head.

A foul smell of burnt plastic accompanied by a strange aroma of cooked meat wafted out.

Realizing what had happened, Rebecca turned around and gave a thumbs up to a certain spot.

“Alright, mission complete, let’s get the hell out of here!”

Bang!

Maine also rushed out at this moment, using the Projectile Launch System installed on his Gorilla Arms as a shield in front of him, and kicked the door open.

In an instant, gunshots rang out one after another as the nearby Tyger Claws gathered at high speed.

“A bunch of bastards, how dare you cause trouble on our turf!!”

“Kill them!

Cut off that chick’s face for me, I want to hang it on my wall as a souvenir!”

Boom—

The next second, a grenade was fired, and in an instant, several Tyger Claws were blown to bits in the firelight.

Screech—

“Get in the car, quick!”

Suddenly, a car stopped in front of them with a beautiful drift.

The door flew open, revealing a man in a suit with a handlebar mustache who looked quite elegant.

It was the dedicated driver of Maine’s crew, Falco.

Bang, bang, bang!

While speaking, the group jumped into the car, leaving a few “little gifts” for the Tyger Claws behind them.

Boom—

“Woohoo!!!”

Then, after a cheer, Maine’s crew sped off down the street like a gust of wind.

The Tyger Claws were not to be outdone, and several motorcycles immediately gave chase.

V naturally saw all of this and slowly shook her head.

“Edgerunner…”

“Hey, what the hell are you looking at?

Do you have a death wish?!”

Suddenly, a member of the Tyger Claws saw V.

Having just gone through a shootout, they were currently extremely furious, and he walked straight up to question her.

Seeing this, V frowned, but she wasn’t particularly panicked.

She just slowly pulled an ID from her pocket and waved it in front of them.

“You motherf—”

“Cool it, she’s Corp.”

Just as the man was about to lose his temper, another Tyger Claw walked up.

“Sorry for interrupting your fun, but we’re afraid we’re closed for business today.

Please leave.”

Seeing that they were sensible, V didn’t say much and walked straight toward Rain’s direction.

“Tch!

Corp rat…”

“Alright, shut the hell up and don’t cause me any trouble!”
