“This…”
Riveria’s pupils contracted, and the parchment trembled faintly between her fingers.
Her Strength, Endurance, Dexterity, and Agility had all increased to varying degrees.
That alone should have been impossible, considering she had done no training recently.
But the most unbelievable change was her Magic.
It had already reached S 989, placing her only a step away from its apparent limit.
Yet now it had broken straight through to SS 1021!
That defied everything she knew.
Within Orario’s established understanding of the Falna, S rank represented the absolute peak an adventurer could reach.
SS was so rare that most people had never even heard of it.
Only a tiny handful of adventurers throughout history had ever surpassed S rank, and every one of them had become a legend whose name endured across generations.
Yet Riveria had done nothing more than sleep for a single night, and somehow she had crossed that seemingly insurmountable boundary.
“Riveria, what happened?”
Loki finally recovered from her shock.
Her face became unusually grave as she stepped in front of Riveria and looked directly into her eyes.
“This isn’t normal.
Have you encountered anything unusual recently?
Anyone suspicious, or perhaps some strange object?”
Riveria parted her lips.
For one reckless moment, she nearly told Loki about the dream.
The words reached the tip of her tongue before she forced them back down.
No.
She could not tell her.
If Loki learned that Riveria’s abilities had inexplicably soared after an absurdly intimate dream, the goddess would laugh herself senseless.
More importantly, Riveria herself could not prove that the two events were connected.
She only knew that the dream had felt far too real and far too unusual.
Then, immediately after waking, her status had undergone this impossible growth.
It was difficult not to suspect some connection.
But she had no evidence and no explanation.
Mentioning it now would only worry Loki and possibly create an unnecessary commotion.
“I don’t know either.”
Riveria ultimately chose to conceal the truth.
She shook her head, doing her best to keep her voice calm and natural.
“I haven’t encountered anyone or anything suspicious recently, nor have I undergone any unusual training.
This surprises me as much as it does you.”
Loki studied her for a long moment, her clever eyes gleaming thoughtfully.
As a goddess of trickery and mischief, Loki had an instinctive sensitivity to deception.
Something told her Riveria was hiding something, but she could find no solid evidence.
“Fine.
Since it’s good news, I suppose there’s no need to interrogate you over it.”
Loki eventually shrugged, slipping back into her usual carefree demeanor.
“The increase is real, and your Magic breaking into SS means you’ll be even stronger during this expedition.
We may not know why it happened, but I’m not about to complain.”
Riveria quietly breathed a sigh of relief, grateful that Loki had chosen not to push the matter further.
“But…”
Loki suddenly leaned closer, an suggestive grin spreading across her face.
“For just a second there, you looked like you were remembering something very interesting.
Your face even turned a little red~”
Riveria’s heart skipped a beat, but she immediately regained control and gave Loki an icy stare.
“You imagined it.”
“Tch.
Boring!”
Loki pouted and leaned back.
“All right, all right.
Your status is updated, so go finish preparing for the expedition.
You’ll be leaving soon, and you shouldn’t keep Ais and the others waiting.”
Riveria nodded, put her robes back on, and carefully stored the parchment before heading for the door.
However, the moment her hand closed around the handle, she stopped.
The indistinct figure from her dream appeared in her mind once more.
Who had he been?
Why had she felt so safe and close to him when she had never even seen his face?
Riveria shook her head and pushed those thoughts aside before opening the door.
Whatever had happened, the dream was over.
Now was the time to focus on the expedition.
Every ounce of her attention needed to remain on the task ahead.
Everything else…
She could think about it after she returned.
With that decision made, Riveria walked toward the courtyard where the expedition team was gathering.
Morning sunlight fell across her emerald hair, scattering flecks of gold around her composed and dignified face.
Only Riveria herself knew that a faint warmth from the dream still lingered somewhere deep within her heart, like a seed quietly buried beneath the earth, waiting for some unknown moment to sprout.
…
