[Ability Values] are also the foundation of foundations, representing a person’s basic qualities.
All fancy abilities are driven with basic attributes as the core.
Among them, Strength and Endurance need no explanation; they are simple attack and defense.
Dexterity and Agility, according to Fati’s understanding, the former leans toward upper limb accumulation, while the latter leans toward lower limb feedback.
For instance, the use of delicate tools, traps, and weapons, as well as professions that specialize in various crafts and require precise operation, are all closely related to Dexterity.
Agility, on the other hand, is directly linked to attack speed, movement speed, reaction speed, and so on.
Finally, Magic is linked to [Magic].
Usually, when Fati opens and closes the panel for no reason, he is intentionally training his magic power.
[Magic]: Noble Mages are a privileged class no matter where they are, and Orario is no exception.
[Development Ability]: Materializes certain Experiences, specialties, memories, or techniques, thereby sublimating them into [Abilities] for amplification.
Such as [Swordsman], [Blacksmithing], [Healing], [Swimming], and so on.
[Skills]: The crystallization of desires, extremely mysterious and possessing infinite possibilities.
They are also a key factor in distinguishing powerful races from mediocre ones.
Whether one can become strong, and whether one can stand out from the same race and the same level, depends on whether one has skills and what kind of [Skills] they possess…
Compared to others, Fati was “fully equipped” from the moment he awakened.
At the Lv.1 stage, he already had three magics, seven skills, and one Development Ability.
As a cheat user, his number of skills would definitely increase in the future, and his third magic, [Fati Tirtibernes Magic Notebook], allowed Fati’s magical attainments to extend infinitely.
The only thing that weighed on his mind was the upper limit of his [Ability Values].
Fortunately, his cheat could solve this problem.
So, what was the price?
Money.
Consuming [Experience] and [Money] to add points.
The [Diligence compensates for lack of talent] effect of the skill Scholars Learning Heart allowed him to gain [Experience] and train himself by “grinding mobs” in the Dungeon, while also gathering loot and other general equivalents of [Money].
Then, through the skill Proof of Transmigration, he could consume both to freely allocate points.
Fati’s current ability values had already reached his potential limit, which was the value inside the parentheses.
Now, by consuming 100 Experience and 1,000,000 Valis, he easily broke through the potential limit that had trapped countless people to death.
“Not bad, the cheat is indeed useful, it’s just a bit expensive.”
Having experienced the feeling of using a cheat for the first time, Fati gave a mixed review.
With just a simple click, over half a year of accumulation had vanished overnight.
The remaining 1,500 Valis in his hand were barely enough for tomorrow’s food and drinks.
“But it was all worth it.”
“Next is today’s extra harvest.”
He took out an old, yellowed parchment book from a hidden inner pocket; the thick tome had a significant presence.
“In all my time as an Adventurer, this is the first time the cheat has dropped something.
I didn’t even know it had this function.”
[First Magic: Omni-Origin].
As an adaptive, localized cheat, besides the simple status bar and displaying his own potential, there were other functions to be explored on his own.
For example, drop treasure chests: when defeating or killing an opponent, there is a “certain chance” of a treasure chest dropping, which can contain all sorts of things.
He only learned of this function today.
In other words, this was the first time a treasure chest had dropped since he became an Adventurer.
If he hadn’t heard a [Ding] notification, he wouldn’t have known his “cheat” had this feature.
Fortunately, the [treasure chest] was only visible to himself and his Familia.
Combined with the weary, workhorse expression he always maintained after finishing work, outsiders couldn’t tell anything from his face.
Living until today, he had never forgotten one thing: in the enclosed Dungeon, besides monsters and the lunatics of the [Dark Faction], one’s fellow Adventurers were the ones to be most wary of.
Casting aside morality to become a bandit was just a daily occurrence.
Once you’ve become an Adventurer, your moral compass is bound to be quite flexible.
Who doesn’t have a side hustle or two?
Recalling the sequence of events and his new cheat ability, Fati shook his head and sighed with emotion.
“The probability is touching, but the item is decent enough.”
Fati looked at the name of the item in his hand and raised an eyebrow.
[Name]: grimoire: Scorch
[Origin]: Azeroth
[Type]: Knowledge
[Effect]: Ultra-short chant magic.
Damage is extremely low, but it applies an “Ignite” effect upon hitting a target, causing continuous burn damage.
Subsequent fire-based magic attacks against an “Ignited” target deal increased damage.
[Description]: Laughable damage; it is merely an opening move.
The grimoire, the skill configuration, and his own choices—these three factors combined were what prompted Fati to choose to enhance his ‘Magic’ potential.
Taking a look at Fati’s skill configuration:
Demon King Crest doubles the base ‘Endurance’ and ‘Magic’ stats, and provides a massive mana pool with permanent high mana regeneration—it’s essentially the Orario version of the Uzumaki bloodline.
Hand of Omnipotence offers versatility.
Every Mage is a polymath; while they might not be masters of everything, knowing a bit of everything and mastering some is standard procedure.
Scholars Learning Heart provides ‘diligence compensating for lack of talent,’ enhanced learning ability, and aesthetic sublimation—it’s basically a double bonus for appearances and special effects.
True Essence of All Magic is a divine skill.
Its greatness needs no words; a single skill that changes one’s destiny against the heavens.
Demon Guards Blessing increases magic power, adds damage reduction, and improves stamina.
Whether serving as a front-line magic tank, a mid-line all-rounder, or a back-line artillery turret, this skill ensures Fati will never become the stereotypical glass-cannon Mage.
With these skills, supplemented by technique and strategy, becoming a true all-around Mage is just around the corner.
With such capital, Fati would have to be out of his mind to choose to be a crude, reckless warrior; he would definitely choose the noble path of a Mage with his eyes closed…
He pulled out a chair, sat at the table, turned on the warm-colored magic stone lamp, and solemnly placed the [Old grimoire] on the desk.
Flipping open the slightly damaged and faded cover, the yellowed pages recorded all the knowledge of [Magic: Scorch in black ink.
Besides the main text, there were annotations and insights left by unknown individuals, which increased the book’s value infinitely.
By the light of the lamp, Fati entered a state of focused study.
His fingers unconsciously stroked the corners of the pages.
Sometimes his brow would furrow, and occasionally he would have a sudden realization, completely immersed in the wondrous sea of magic, oblivious to the passage of time.
It wasn’t until the sky had completely darkened and the starry night sky with its cold moonlight hung high above the branches that Fati was finally awakened by the “grumble” of his stomach.
He glanced up at the [Magic Stone Clock] on the wall before reluctantly closing the book.
“Phew—so this is magic.
Incredible.
This is the first time I’ve so clearly felt my own sea-like mental strength and the existence of ‘Magic’ within my body.”
He raised his right hand, palm up, recalled the knowledge in his mind, and followed it to the letter, chanting softly:
“Scorch!”
As he softly chanted the name of the magic—
“Sizzle—!!”
A flame as weak as an oil lamp ignited from his fingertips.
Fati’s lips curled into a grin, and he began to laugh silently.
