“What kind of weapon do you want?

A sword?

Or maybe a dagger, something like that?” Miss Mira drew Lucian aside and started asking.Full novel: DanMachi One Glance and It’s Mine: My Eye Copies Every Technique — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Seeing her enthusiasm, Lucian thought for a moment.

“Miss Mira, I’d like a saber.”

As for the choice of weapon, Lucian didn’t much mind, but he had a preference for a saber, no particular reason, he just liked it.

At his words, Miss Mira looked at him, a little surprised.

“A saber?

That’s a niche weapon; very few people use them.

Wait here, I’ve got a pretty good one.”

With that, she let go of him and headed for the storeroom.

Before long she came back carrying a long box.

“See if this suits you.”

She set it on a counter near Lucian and opened it, revealing a straight-bladed saber about three feet long.

The silver-white blade gave off a cold gleam, and the hilt was wrapped in some material he didn’t recognize.

This saber clearly wasn’t any ordinary piece.

His first thought at the sight of it: can a broke nobody like me even afford this thing?

The blade looked incredibly expensive, definitely not something a poor kid like him could pay for.

“Miss Mira, let’s forget this one.

I can’t afford it!” Lucian laid out the awkward truth without hesitation.

Miss Mira knew his situation all too well.

Even though she’d offered it for free, Lucian couldn’t accept.

“You child, I said I’d give it to you, so why keep talking about buying?

You look plenty satisfied with it, so that settles it, this blade’s yours.” As she said it, Miss Mira lifted the blade from the box.

Then she held out the hilt to him, blade pointed down.

“Give it a try.

If it feels right, just take it home.”

Watching her, Lucian was stunned.

He didn’t reach for it, though; instead he said, very seriously, “I’m sorry, I can’t accept this.

Let’s not even test it.

I’ll just grab a random one.”

As he spoke, Lucian looked toward the rest of the shop.

It wasn’t very big; you could take in all the weapons at a glance.

He quickly zeroed in on a cheaper saber, walked over, picked it up, and said, “Miss Mira, I’ll take this one.”

This saber cost only two thousand, relatively cheap, and plenty good enough for Lucian.

As he spoke, he took out his phone, scanned the shop’s QR code, and started transferring the money directly.

Watching him, Miss Mira rolled her eyes in exasperation.

The next moment she was standing right in front of him, snatching the saber from his hand and shoving the other one into it instead.

“I said I’d give it to you, and I will.

Quit being stubborn.

A good weapon will help you a lot.

Listen to me, no refusing!” As she spoke, Miss Mira hung the blade she’d taken back in its original place.

The scene startled Lucian a little.

This lady’s strength seemed quite high; he hadn’t been able to react at all.

Looking at the saber now in his hands, Lucian said, a bit helpless, “Why are you forcing a sale like this?”

At that moment he really was at a loss.

She seemed determined to press this saber on him.

Holding the blade, Lucian could feel how extraordinary it was.

The weight in his hand was just right, and it felt very comfortable.

Not touching it was one thing, but once he had, Lucian was genuinely tempted.

“Yes, I’m forcing the sale today!

All right, don’t overthink it.

Just take this blade and use it.

Once you’re stronger down the road, if you happen to get any materials, you can sell them to me.

Just treat it as me investing in you.” After putting away the two-thousand-credits saber, Miss Mira spoke to Lucian with a very serious face.

At that, Lucian fell silent.

He knew Miss Mira’s shop bought materials because all these weapons were forged by her husband.

Besides selling weapons, she also bought all sorts of materials, and this blade of his was likely forged from materials out of a Dimensional Rift.

After thinking it over, Lucian quickly made up his mind.

“All right, then I won’t stand on ceremony, Miss Mira.

If I get any materials in the future, I’ll sell them all to you!”

If that was the deal, Lucian could accept it.

He clearly couldn’t afford this saber with his current funds; at the very least, it was probably worth tens of thousands, maybe even hundreds of thousands.

“Then I’ll be looking forward to it.

Study hard at school.

Once you’re stronger, you’ll find that making money is actually simple, so don’t take this to heart, understand?” Seeing that Lucian had finally agreed, she let out a sigh of relief, while also gently lecturing the child.

She told him not to dwell on it because she understood these young people all too well.

At that age, pride runs strong, and they don’t like accepting charity.

But this wasn’t charity; it was an investment in the future.

Lucian landing in a special class proved his extraordinary qualities.

By helping him now, if he got good materials later, she’d benefit too, wouldn’t she?

It was a win-win.

And even if Lucian never grew into anything, for her it was just a saber, so what did it matter?

Besides, she had a good feeling about him.

Back when he worked part-time at her shop, she’d seen how he carried himself with her own eyes.

“Hold on, let me get you something.” Looking at Lucian, Miss Mira remembered something, said a word to him, and walked inside.

Before long she came back with a scabbard and a blade cover in hand.

Lucian recognized them; they were used to sheathe the blade so it wouldn’t cut anyone during training.

Miss Mira handed both to him.

“You know these well enough; they go with your saber.

Remember to put the cover on when you train, so you don’t hurt yourself.”

Lucian nodded at that.

He didn’t refuse again, taking them and outfitting his new weapon.

Once all that was done, Lucian remembered something and quickly took out his phone to finish entering the password he’d left off.

“Miss Mira, I won’t take this blade for nothing.

I don’t have much on me right now, so I’ll give you two thousand first and pay the rest later!” After sending the money, Lucian made his promise with a serious face.

At that, Miss Mira rolled her eyes and said, exasperated, “Fine, we’ll leave it there for now.

Pay me whenever you’ve got money; no rush.”

She truly felt helpless; this kid was just too stubborn.

Sighing, she said no more.

If she actually gave the money back, Lucian would probably return the blade.

“Thank you, Miss Mira!” Lucian bowed to her, saber in hand, then turned and left.

Seeing him off, Miss Mira didn’t stop him, walking him to the door instead.

She’d done what she could; now she was looking forward to how far Lucian would grow.
