“The special class is just a special class the school’s about to open.” Teacher Hale couldn’t resist a little joke.

That left the students below speechless; the teacher was messing with them again.

But she didn’t keep teasing.Full novel: DanMachi One Glance and It’s Mine: My Eye Copies Every Technique — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Instead she explained, “It’s really an honors class, opened mainly for students with special Talent, like Lucian.”

Then she gave the reason.

Students like Lucian, suited to any path, would be placed there; this class was meant for the Geniuses.

Once she explained, everyone understood, and their eyes turned to Lucian full of envy.

If all went as expected, Lucian would get special training in that class, wouldn’t he?

Still, thinking of his Talent, everyone felt it made sense.

With a terrifying learning Talent, it would be a waste not to go.

If the description of that Talent was true, then barring surprises, Lucian would probably finish learning everything the school could teach in no time.

“All right, pack up and head to your classes.

Lucian, come with me.” Having explained it all, the Class Teacher called to Lucian and walked out.

At that, he stood, grabbed his schoolbag, and left the room with her.

“I’ll still be your Class Teacher going forward.

Your Talent is excellent, but you can’t get sloppy.

Talent has to be paired with your own hard work if you want to go further.” Leading him to the new classroom, she gave him a word of caution.

Talent was Talent, but there was no room for arrogance; effort was still what carried you further.

Lucian’s Talent let him learn many things easily, sure, but it was all useless if he didn’t put in the work.

She hoped he’d keep that in mind and not grow arrogant.

In truth she didn’t know much about him; Lucian had always been a background figure in class, his grades unremarkable.

Plenty of students were like that.

If your grades weren’t especially good or especially bad, teachers generally didn’t pay you much attention.

In this world or his old one, it was the same.

Facing her earnest advice, Lucian nodded to show he’d taken it to heart.

Watching his calm bearing, the Class Teacher felt reassured.

This one had a steady head on his shoulders; arrogance shouldn’t be an issue.

What she feared most were the students who developed an “I answer to no one” attitude after Awakening, convinced they were invincible.

Students like that rarely went far, precisely because they were too arrogant.

But this one’s temperament was steady, so the problems she worried over shouldn’t arise.

Lucian followed his Class Teacher to the second floor of another teaching building, then stopped outside a classroom.

“This is where you’ll have your lessons from now on.

Go on in; the other students should be here soon.” She motioned for him to head inside first.

For the moment there was no one else there; the whole room was empty, and he could sit practically anywhere.

Lucian walked in, scanned the room, and picked a seat in the back.

The spot was perfect for watching the playground outside through the window, the back row by the window, every king’s home turf.

Once seated, Lucian took out his books and laid them out neatly.

That done, he glanced at the teacher standing outside, then simply pulled out his phone to scroll videos and kept learning the Martial Skills on them.

Teacher Hale heard the sound coming from his phone, but after a glance she paid it no more mind.

The boy wasn’t goofing off; he was studying.

She just didn’t know how much of his Talent could pull from the internet.

She’d find a chance to test that later.

The idea came to her quickly.

While Lucian scrolled, students slowly filed into the room.

Some were startled to see him on his phone.

They said nothing, though, just quietly found seats, sat down, and laid out their own books.

After all, no one knew anyone else yet, so there was no need to talk; they’d get to it when the teacher asked for introductions.

As time passed, the room filled up.

Some were from the same old class and clustered together to chat.

Seeing so many arrive, Lucian looked up.

There were already over twenty people now, boys and girls both, but everyone sat scattered, few of them together.

Just as he was surveying the room, a few more walked in from outside.

The others froze at the sight of their uniforms.

Because these newcomers weren’t from their school; they were students from the neighboring Foreign Language School.

Would these people be their classmates now?

Had the two schools merged?

Or what was the reason?

Turning that over, Lucian studied them, and the most striking of all was a cold girl with long, straight black hair.

She came into the room, took stock of everyone, then walked straight to the empty seat in front of Lucian and sat down.

As she did, a faint fragrance drifted over him, and Lucian found himself muttering under his breath.

The girl paid no attention to the stares around her, quietly taking out her books.

Sitting behind her, Lucian happened to catch her name…

Yukinoshita Yukino?

The instant he read it, he frowned.

Was this right?

Was this not the 3D world, but the 2D one?

The moment he saw that name, he understood why the girl had felt so familiar.

Good heavens, good heavens indeed!

Lucian was stunned.

This was actually a 2D world?

Then, besides Yukinoshita, were there other 2D characters here?

At that thought, Lucian scanned the room again, but found no other familiar faces.

Maybe some would be among the students still to come?

There were plenty of empty seats left, and the teacher was still waiting outside.

Barring surprises, there should be a good number of students who hadn’t arrived yet, right?

At that, Lucian couldn’t help looking forward to it.

Truly unexpected, this world actually had characters from the 2D one?

Then again, this world was already riddled with holes, so the appearance of a few 2D characters wasn’t all that shocking.

Maybe they’d come here for some reason and picked up identities in this world along the way?

Either way, for someone who loved the 2D world, this was wonderful news.

Lucian had to admit, he was getting excited.
