That said, the Falna system of ‘DanMachi’ really was absurdly idealist.
Pretty much every single one of the stat values could be traced back to something in Natsuka’s past life.
For someone like him, a seasoned transmigrator who had already gone through two crossings, having a spatial-type magic evolve out of that didn’t really seem to be much of a problem.
And given the way he had spent all these years tearing after “Mystery” like a man possessed, it was only natural that it had crystallized into a skill.
As for that last one…
The harem ambition hidden in the heart of every man had, just like that, turned into [Wings of Justice].
Looking at that name, for a moment Natsuka didn’t know whether to laugh or stay silent.
So you really did write “everyone is my wings” right into the system’s description, huh.
Astraea, seeing that he had finished reading through his own abilities, softly said,
“All three of these count as rather rare abilities.”
“Especially [Wings of Justice].”
“If you were in a Familia that was already very strong to begin with, Natsuka, I’m afraid you’d immediately end up with some quite astonishing stat values.”
Natsuka, gripping the parchment, nodded with feeling.
“Indeed.”
“If I were in Orario’s strongest Freya Familia, and on top of that could get every single member to max out their affection for me, I reckon I’d be able to surpass the strongest in the world right where I stood.”
Of course.
That was strictly a pipe dream.
Getting the Freya Familia to max affection — just listen to yourself.
Besides, the way this “affection” was judged was itself far too vague.
There wasn’t any concrete numerical standard at all.
Natsuka clenched his fists, on one hand getting used to the subtle changes the Falna had brought, and on the other thinking it over seriously.
“From the way things look now, to get to the level of affection that grants a 50% inheritance, it probably has to be at least the level of an old married couple.”
Which was to say, the more people he won over, and the more they trusted him and liked him, the stronger he would become.
In a certain sense.
This skill and his lifelong wish were, astonishingly, in perfect harmony.
“Still…”
Astraea looked at him, a touch of apology in her eyes.
“Having you join a Familia like mine, where there’s nothing here at all, is still being a bit unfair to you.” This chapter is updated first at novelping.com.
“It’s fine.”
“I chose this myself.”
“Besides, with stats like mine, once they’re exposed, it would definitely cause a lot of trouble.”
“So…
Lady Lia will keep my secret for me, right?”
Natsuka came right out with it.
“Lia?”
Astraea blinked.
“Astraea, shortened to Lia.”
“So, Lady Lia.”
“Oh my.”
“Have you already started your conquest this fast?”
Astraea gave a soft little laugh.
“Rest assured.”
“As for your skills, I’ve already gone ahead and sealed and concealed them for you.”
“From now on, even if some other god tries to poach you, this part won’t easily come to light.”
Hearing this, Natsuka had only one thought in his heart.
As expected, picking the right god really does matter.
If it had been Loki instead, she would, eight times out of ten, already have thrown a banquet and been spreading the news far and wide.
Most of the other gods wouldn’t be much better either.
But Astraea was different.
Although her Familia right now was about on par with Hestia’s — poor, empty, with no members.
Her prestige was absolutely not low.
The signboard of “Justice Familia” carried tremendous weight out in the world.
Her connections were ridiculously strong on top of that.
Even Freya, who, on her whims, went around snatching up whoever she pleased, would more or less give Astraea face.
Let alone Ganesha and that crew of fellow gods.
Aside from the Dark Faction, most of the other Familias basically had natural goodwill toward Astraea.
Inside Natsuka’s head, he had already started auto-imagining strange scenes.
After he had put his clothes back on properly, however, he suddenly furrowed his brows again, showing a hint of distress.
“This makes things tricky.”
“What’s the matter?”
Astraea asked.
“The captain thing.”
Natsuka pressed a hand to his forehead.
Normally speaking, the captain of a Familia typically represented prestige, status, and a natural sort of authority.
Originally, handing the captain title off to someone else wouldn’t have mattered.
But things were different now.
With [Wings of Justice], the value of this identity had been amplified in an instant.
“From now on, if the Familia keeps recruiting new members, the captain will naturally find it easier to earn the kind of affection that goes with respect, trust, and so on.”
“Compared to slowly winning people over later, starting off with a baseline of affection already in place would yield a huge return.”
He analyzed it seriously.
“By my estimate, something at the level of ‘respect’ would, at the very least, give about a 5% inheritance bonus.”
“Don’t underestimate that 5%.”
“That’s already absurd.”
“Put it on the scale of something like the Ganesha Familia, with eleven Lv5s — just from this alone, I’d naturally be able to pick up the equivalent of half a Lv5.”
“At minimum, a Lv3.”
Astraea, listening to him, also turned serious.
“So, for you, compared to the uncertain status of vice-captain or the like later on, the value of being the Familia’s captain really is much higher.”
“That’s right.”
“The problem lies with Cecil.
How am I supposed to put it to her now.”
It was rare for Natsuka to have something of a headache.
Astraea pondered for a moment, but then her brow and eyes smoothed out, and she let a gentle smile show.
