“Would you consider…

joining my Familia?”

Renn had to admit, that was the best thing he could have heard after figuring out he’d landed in the world of Danmachi.Full novel: DanMachi: Why Are So Many Goddesses Fighting Over Me?! — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

An adventurer.

If you wanted to survive in a fantasy world with magic and superhuman abilities without getting kicked to death on the roadside, becoming an adventurer was clearly the correct answer.

But how you became one, that was the critical question.

A Familia with a good environment was, to put it in plain terms, like having a veteran player show you the ropes when you started a new game.

The opposite case.

That was the kind of veteran who told new players to roll for the worst possible character, rotten to the core.

A Familia that was both strong and pleasant to be in, though, was like one of the big tech companies from his old life.

Just reaching the entry requirements was incredibly hard.

Right now.

Faced with Hestia’s invitation, Renn couldn’t think of a reason to refuse.

It was at least the best option for his current situation.

A cheat ability?

Since arriving here he hadn’t heard a single pleasant system notification chime.

He couldn’t even get one of those borrowed-in-advance talents.

Renn looked at the beautiful loli goddess who’d brought him back purely out of kindness.

“Is that really all right?”

“Of course.”

Hestia had braced herself for a refusal and hadn’t expected him to agree so fast.

Then her head cooled for a moment.

She suddenly hesitated.

Because.

She realized she’d decided to recruit members on nothing more than a burst of enthusiasm.

She had nothing prepared, no home base, no plan for the future.

“Um…”

“I think I should be upfront with you.

My Familia doesn’t have any other members yet, and the conditions are pretty bad in every way.”

“Are you sure about this?”

“…”

Like the Familias with good conditions would ever take him anyway.

Renn really wanted to say it out loud.

He’d take a bad situation with good company over nothing at all.

If he could become an adventurer.

He’d be satisfied with that.

“Of course.”

“Compared to other adventurers, I don’t think I have better options.

Right now the way to become an adventurer is sitting right in front of me.”

“So I have to consider…”

“Whether this is the only chance I’ll ever get!”

“…”

Hestia could feel the sincerity in what he said.

The truth of it was hard to hear.

Either way.

Recruiting the first member of her Familia was a good development.

She nodded and looked at Hephaestus.

“So…

could I borrow your office to give Renn his Falna?”

“Sigh…”

…

“Renn, I’ll need you to take off your shirt and lie face down on the couch.”

Hestia set the silver needle and parchment she needed on the desk and explained to the black-haired boy.

Granting a Falna.

It meant dripping a god’s blood onto a follower’s back, giving them the authority to gain power and keep growing stronger.

And the vessel an adventurer possessed represented their potential.

Before the Falna was granted, not even a god.

Not even a god could tell what talent a child held.

There were even a rare few gods who lost interest when a member turned out to be ordinary, leaving them on the fringes of the Familia until they were forgotten.

She definitely wasn’t going to be like that!

When her friend’s prodding had pushed her toward building a Familia, Hestia had pictured it as a warm, family-like place.

Even so.

Now that she was actually at the moment of granting the Falna, it was hard not to feel excited about what talent her new member had.

“Here goes…”

The goddess sat on the edge of the couch.

She winced slightly when the needle pricked her finger, but she squeezed the crimson divine blood out anyway.

The next instant.

A soft white glow appeared on Renn’s back along with hieroglyphs that were impossible to read.

Once the hieroglyphs settled into a status panel, Hestia picked up the parchment and took an imprint of it.

She didn’t forget to explain.

“Renn, every adventurer starts with all their stats at zero.”

“If you want to raise them, you have to go into the Dungeon and fight the monsters there, then have your status updated.”

“Understood.”

Renn didn’t feel anything in particular during the process.

If he had to describe it, he was full of anticipation for the future.

But mostly he was nervous.

…

Renn

Level: Lv.1

Strength: I0

Endurance: I0

Dexterity: I0

Agility: I0

Magic: I0

…

Hestia, thinking of it like pulling from a gacha, lowered her eyes and focused on the parchment with the stats printed on it.

Perfectly normal starting numbers.

By Orario’s definition of a genius adventurer, you couldn’t actually tell someone’s final potential right after they received their Falna.

But someone who had a skill the moment they became an adventurer, that was definitely a genius.

“Hmm…”

Remembering how bleak and realistic his words had been, Hestia decided some emotional support was in order.

She tried to sound like a proper goddess.

“I think…”

“You shouldn’t be so pessimistic.

An adventurer’s talent only shows itself through hard work.”

“I’ll do my best.”

Aiming too high was never a good idea.

Besides.

He’d gotten to say goodbye to his wage slave life and start over in another world as an adventurer, something he’d never imagined.

Renn was satisfied with that.

He took the parchment and nodded seriously.

Especially since the cheat system that came standard with every transmigrator hadn’t shown up.

He understood clearly.

However far he got in the future, it would come down to effort and sweat.

But.

Hestia handed the parchment to her new follower, meaning to offer whatever help a goddess could give him.

Then she saw the translucent screen above his head.

She went quiet for a moment, because in all her long life as a goddess she’d never seen anything like it.

[Welcome to the Hero Raising Plan]

So…

What was the Hero Raising Plan supposed to mean?

She couldn’t use her divine power in Orario, so Hestia had no way to analyze this translucent screen that looked so much like a status panel.

She could only take it at face value.

[Hero]

That part was easy enough to understand.

Orario needed a hero to deal with the last and hardest target left, the black dragon subjugation.

Raising Plan…

Her pupils contracted slightly.

Did that mean she could raise Renn into a future hero?

Full of anticipation.

Hestia studied the information the Hero Raising Plan provided.

…

[Character: Renn]

[Level: Lv.1]

Strength Potential: C

Endurance Potential: D

Dexterity Potential: C

Agility Potential: D

Magic Potential: D

Comprehensive Rating: Uncut jade that hasn’t been polished yet, though calling him a seed of a future hero would be premature.

Note:

The player can raise this character’s final growth potential by issuing stage quests and setting growth plans, carrying him toward the distant future.

…

“?”

Hestia looked up from the information panel, her eyes settling on the boy’s face.

Well.

She suddenly realized she might have picked up a treasure when she went out today.
