"What happened? The mortal didn't come to see you?" Ares asked, peering through the opening in the door. His only answer was silence. Smiling, the God of War looked at the Amazon's back. "He has thousands of women out there. Do you really think he's interested in you?" Those harsh words only made the prisoner smile even wider when he saw the Amazon's head lower slightly.

"..." Frowning, she continued looking toward the entrance, waiting for her replacement. Once again, he was playing with her mind. For centuries, he had kept filling her head with empty promises of glory and unimaginable riches in exchange for letting him go. But lately, he had become bolder and more manipulative.

"I can give you something that this island and all your sisters could never give you," he said, this time in a calmer and more serious tone. Those words made the Amazon slowly turn around. Taking her weapon, she slammed it hard against the ground, cracking the floor. Persephone looked at the god with anger.Full novel: DC: Hokage In The Justice League — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

"I'm not interested..." she said slowly in a threatening tone, but deep down, she wondered what this thing the god kept boasting about could be, something that she desired.

"Oh, really...? Perhaps the Amazons are born warriors who aren't afraid to die in battle, who would do anything for their sisters, and who are more than willing to sacrifice themselves for the good of this land... But they're still women... and what a woman wants most is a family... a child." Those words made the Amazon freeze. Slowly, she looked at the God of War with her only good eye.

"...How can I believe you?" she asked harshly while looking at her prisoner, who smiled darkly when he saw that his words had been heard.

"Open the door, and I swear I'll give you a child myself... and I'll make sure you never see me again," he offered in a kind and determined voice. It was obviously fake, but the god knew how to hide it very well. Little by little, the Amazon approached the door. Slowly, she removed the padlocks and metal bars blocking it. Stepping back, she watched as the door was kicked open. "Well done..." Saying that, the god walked toward the Amazon. Once he was close, he slowly caressed her cheek.

"..." The Amazon looked at the god with hope, but his gentle smile turned dark and twisted. In an instant, he grabbed the white-haired woman by the throat and lifted her up. "Y-you pro-promised," she managed to say as she felt herself running out of air. At her words, the God of War only laughed darkly. Taking the Amazon's spear, he aimed it at Persephone's only good eye.

"I lied." After saying that, he used the weapon, and blood splashed onto the floor. However, the Amazon felt no pain. Surprised, she realized that she was on the ground. Looking ahead, she stared in shock at Naruto, who had been pierced by the spear. He looked at the Amazon with concern.

"Are you okay?" was his simple question. Her only response was a glassy-eyed stare as the Amazon covered her mouth, holding back a scream. Growling, the shinobi grabbed the spear in his chest and pulled it out. He quickly healed. Since he had Kurama, who was now the new Jūbi, his regeneration had become much faster.

"You've only prolonged her life by a few seconds..." Ares said as he arrogantly spread his arms. Pointing at the shinobi, the Greek god growled with hatred. "Now that I'm free, I—" Before he could finish, he was brutally kicked. Flying back into his cell, he crashed against the wall and remained embedded in it.

"Blah... blah... blah... blah," the Uzumaki said without interest, moving his hand as if it were a talking mouth. Closing the door, he put all the padlocks and bolts back in place. Dusting off his hands, he sighed calmly. With the wristbands Hera had placed on him, Ares was weak, very weak in the shinobi's eyes. He turned to look at Persephone. She was curled up in a fetal position, holding her head. Tears began to run down the face of the girl, who was in shock.

"I was going to betray my sisters..." she said as she gripped her hair tightly, almost pulling it out. "...I was going to betray my sisters..." she repeated again as tears continued to fall from her left eye. What had she done? Because of her weakness, she had freed the Amazons' worst enemy and could have brought about the apocalypse itself. All because of her stupidity and weakness. "...I was going to betray my sisters..." she repeated once more.

But she opened her eyes when she felt a pair of arms wrap around her. Using all her strength, she tried to pull away from the shinobi, but he refused to let her go. Kicking and even biting him, she tried to free herself, but the shinobi did not loosen his grip. As the minutes passed, the Amazon stopped struggling. "Let it out," the Uzumaki said as he stroked the woman's back, and she began crying on his shoulder. Several minutes passed like this, with Naruto comforting Persephone until she calmed down. "Are you okay?" Naruto asked as he pulled away from the woman, who, with a sudden burst of speed, landed a powerful right punch on the blond, knocking his head to the side.

"STOP PRETENDING YOU CARE ABOUT ME! EVERY DAY IT'S THE SAME THING! I DON'T WANT YOUR PITY!" the white-haired woman shouted angrily as she struck the Uzumaki again, who did not defend himself. Blow after blow, the Amazon's fists began to stain with blood. "YOU HAVE ALL THOSE OTHER WOMEN WHO THROW THEMSELVES AT YOU!" She threw one last punch, but the blond caught it, his mouth bleeding. He watched sadly as the woman fell to her knees. "Why are you doing this to me?" she asked one last time, her voice barely a whisper.

"Because I care about you..." the blond said, giving the white-haired woman a small smile. Calmly, the shinobi offered his hand to the Amazon, who hesitantly took it. Standing up, she looked at the blond's wide smile. Even after she had taken out her feelings on him like that, he was still smiling. "Never forget that," he finished, closing his eyes with a wide smile, which made Persephone smile a little as well. "And to show you how much I care about you..." Saying that, the blond placed his hand over the scar on the right side of the woman's face. Surprised, she felt a pleasant warmth spread through her body. "Ta-da!" Saying that, he moved his hand away, revealing Persephone's beautiful light-blue eye. Stunned, she saw that she had regained her lost eye.
