Unconsciously, Brandon exclaimed with wide eyes, shattering the dense silence, “Holy shit!
You’re not some bastard son our father dumped out here before getting together with our mothers, are you?!”
Clark stared at Brandon with his eyes wide open, completely shocked by such a declaration and not understanding in the slightest how his friend had managed to come up with such a wild hypothesis.
John was about to fire back immediately and severely scold Brandon for talking such nonsense, but the words got stuck in his own throat.
Suddenly, he couldn’t help but seriously ponder the possibility that it might be real.
He began to replay everything in his mind: the obsessive attention their parents always paid to the Kent family, the identical powers they shared…
In the end, John couldn’t help but doubt and wonder if his brother might actually be onto something.
Seeing the expressions on both of their faces, Clark hurriedly replied, “No!
I’m not his son!”
Brandon smiled awkwardly and was about to apologize to his neighbor when he noticed John’s fixed, inquisitive gaze.
Startled, Brandon exclaimed, “No, brother!
Seriously…
you took it seriously?
I just said it without thinking!”
John said nothing and merely furrowed his brow, deeply lost in thought.
He glanced sideways at Clark and thought that, while Clark didn’t look much like Conner, he certainly carried an aura and a build that subtly recalled Laurel.
John quietly drew a breath and quickly shook his head, instantly banishing those dangerous and uncomfortable thoughts.
Clark looked at John too, noticing his seriousness.
He shook his hands frantically and said in a major rush but with absolute firmness, “Come on, do you really think that about him?
He’s your father, right?
How can you think badly of him?
Especially you, John…
Besides, I am completely sure that he is not my father.”
John frowned again for a moment, but eventually relaxed completely and nodded, choosing to believe Clark’s words.
‘Clark is absolutely right, plus my dad wouldn’t be that kind of man,’ John reflected in his mind.
‘If he had a secret son with someone else, he would have taken responsibility for him without hesitating for a single second and would never have left him abandoned on a distant farm.’
Brandon, however, raised an eyebrow upon seeing how strangely confident Clark Kent seemed.
He narrowed his eyes maliciously and said, “Oh, wow…
How interesting.
John, who is the one who should be sure of Dad’s innocence, doubted for a moment; but you, Clark, are completely convinced of the opposite.
I won’t say anything about John’s doubts, but you, my dear friend…
Why are you so damn sure?”
Brandon began to walk slowly around Clark, circling him with a feline pace until he placed an arm over his shoulders.
He stared down at him, as if wanting to meticulously study every tiny expression on his face in search of a hidden clue, which made Clark extremely nervous.
John, catching the same curiosity, locked his analytical gaze on Clark, waiting for a coherent answer.
Clark turned completely red under the pressure and began to stammer, “Uh…
I…
I…”
“Come on, you’re talking to us,” Brandon pressed him, softening his tone but without looking away.
“You know we already told you everything about us.
We’re childhood friends, best friends.
We are completely trustworthy people, Clark; you can tell us anything.”
Clark inhaled a breath of air in absolute silence to try and calm his racing heartbeat.
‘My parents explicitly warned me that I must never tell this to anyone in the world, but…’, Clark thought, looking at the sincere faces of the two brothers.
He finally made up his mind, knowing that the normal rules no longer applied to them.
‘But they already know what it’s like to have powers.
Besides, they said their own father knows about the existence of beings from space…
Maybe he knows where I really come from.’ This chapter is updated first at g.com.
“Well…
I…”, Clark paused briefly and squeezed his eyes shut, mentally preparing himself.
Then he snapped them open and blurted out the words at a breathtaking speed: “I’m an alien!”
Brandon and John stared at him with their eyes wide open, completely petrified.
An absolute silence fell over the barn where no one dared to make the slightest sound.
That prolonged and awkward silence began to make Clark extremely tense, and he quickly defended himself, “Come on!
Say something!
Don’t just stand there silent with that face…”
Suddenly, Brandon and John burst into roaring laughter at the exact same time, leaving Clark completely confused and furrowing his brow in annoyance.
“Come on, man,” John said between laughs, trying to catch his breath due to the hilarity of the situation.
“If you don’t want to tell us the true source of your powers, just don’t say it.
But don’t make up a dumb excuse like that…”
Brandon nodded vigorously, wiping an imaginary tear from his eyes from laughing so hard.
“Come on, it’s true!
Just tell us if you already found out who your real biological parents are.
I completely understand if you hate them for abandoning you in this town and don’t want to talk about it, but please, don’t make up such a childish excuse…”
Clark, visibly angry seeing that his best friends didn’t believe him at all, quickly fired back in frustration, “Come on, guys!
I am completely serious!
It’s the truth!”
John rolled his eyes, crossing his arms in disbelief.
“Yeah, right.
You know, even though our dad has never formally introduced us to the aliens he met here on Earth, he has explained their biological appearance to us in detail…
And none of them look purely human like you do, Clark.”
“Exactly!” Brandon chipped in to back his brother.
“Oh, though maybe…
Maybe our Clark is actually one of those extraterrestrials that have the ability to change their appearance at will to disguise themselves as humans.
If that’s the case, then…
Come on, Clark!
Show us your real green face without fear, I promise we won’t distance ourselves from you just for looking hideous,” he finished joking, which caused both brothers to keep laughing heartily.
Clark, feeling the anger turn his face completely red, exclaimed, “You’ll see!
Follow me and I’ll show it to you with your own eyes!”
Without waiting for an answer, Clark spun around and dashed out of the barn at superhuman speed, kicking up a trail of dust in his wake.
Both brothers stopped laughing instantly and looked at each other.
Although they were still confused and full of rational doubts, the impressive speed Clark Kent had just demonstrated convinced them to follow him to see what he had prepared.
Deep down in their minds, the seed of doubt had already been planted, and they were beginning to believe his words just a little bit.
A few minutes later, they found themselves in the hidden basement of the Kent family farm.
Both Blake brothers stood wide-eyed and open-mouthed, beholding the gleaming metallic structure safely harbored in the darkness.
Clark spoke with a clear voice full of triumph, “See now?
I wasn’t joking at all.
I came to Earth inside that when I was a baby.”
Neither of the two brothers was capable of articulating a single word.
They only managed to nod rigidly, devouring the spaceship with their eyes without blinking even once, trying to process the alien engineering right in front of them.
Brandon was the first to snap out of the general shock.
He looked Clark up and down, inspecting him as if seeing him for the very first time.
“Holy shit…
You really are an alien.
Our dad had already told us about them and we were mentally preparing ourselves to eventually meet one in the future, but this… Find the original chapter at g.com.
Having that alien turn out to be our neighbor and childhood friend is a completely different thing.”
John nodded slowly, taking in the ship, and looked at Clark with curiosity.
“So…
Did we nail the theory, and you actually have the biological capability to take a human form to disguise yourself as one of us?”
Brandon’s eyes sparked with excitement again and he quickly approached Clark, giving him a few light nudges.
“Wow, how cool!
Quick, show us your true appearance!
I swear on whatever you want that I won’t make too much fun of you if your original look is really funny or has tentacles.”
Clark brushed Brandon’s hand away with evident annoyance and shot back, “Drop that!
This you see right here is my real appearance.
I don’t shapeshift, nor do I have that power as far as I know.” The young boy looked at both of them with a mix of annoyance and amusement, but feeling an immense relief seeing that his friends weren’t marginalizing him or treating him like a monster for being an alien.
“I revealed this to you mostly to find out if your father might happen to know anything about my true origins.”
Hearing this, both brothers became extremely serious and began to analyze the situation.
John shook his head quickly.
“He told us about the aliens he discovered on this planet, but none of the descriptions match your situation or your human physiology.”
“Exactly,” Brandon agreed.
“He told us in detail about some beings known as the Anunnaki, who are a reptilian alien race with an imposing, dragon-like appearance.
And the other story was about the green Martians…”
John nodded in agreement.
“Exactly, that’s why we thought you were a skinwalker, since according to what Dad explained to us, those Martians can adopt the exact form of human beings.
By the way, I also seem to remember him mentioning the existence of some extraterrestrials that have biological wings on their backs, although he never confirmed to us one hundred percent if that was real or a legend.”
At the end of the analysis, both brothers looked at each other with clear doubts on their faces, totally intrigued to know what kind of alien race Clark could be to possess physical gifts so remarkably similar to those of their own metahuman family.
Clark looked a bit disappointed seeing that they didn’t have exact answers, but he quickly calmed down and smiled maturely.
“Well, it’s fine,” Clark said with a smile.
“I was just asking out of pure curiosity, but it doesn’t really matter.
Whatever my cosmic origin is, at the end of the day I’m still me: a Kent and your friend.”
The Blake brothers smiled in relief upon hearing his excellent attitude and stepped closer to give him a couple of affectionate pats on the back.
Brandon, wanting to break the seriousness and lighten the mood, commented, “Don’t worry, buddy.
Maybe my dad does know exactly what you are and just decided not to tell us yet so as not to overwhelm us.
I’ll ask him directly later at dinner.”
John also nodded with a smile.
“Yeah, Brandon is right.
He’s a walking encyclopedia on these topics, he surely knows something.” John made a brief dramatic pause and added in a highly playful tone, “Who knows…
Maybe our family metahuman gene actually derives from an alien relative of yours who arrived on Earth thousands of years ago and reproduced with a human.”
Brandon drew a sharp breath, completely astonished by his brother’s hypothesis.
“Wow!
That sounds damn possible…
Though it would be a shame if it’s true; the theory that we are special because we’re direct descendants of some mythological god sounds way cooler to me.”
The three boys continued chatting happily as could be for a few more minutes, sharing wild theories in the basement, until John was the first to check the time and react.
“Well, we’ve delayed way too long down here, we need to head back home right away before it gets any later,” John warned.
Clark nodded quickly, getting a bit nervous as he remembered his responsibilities.
“You’re absolutely right…
Besides, my parents won’t be long in returning from their errands, and if they see you guys snooping around here in the basement, I’m going to get grounded big time,” he admitted with a certain childish clumsiness.
Brandon gave him one last friendly pat on the shoulder as they walked toward the exit.
“Well, see you later, Clark.
If I manage to find out any interesting facts from my dad, I’ll tell you right away.”
The three friends said goodbye with one last smile.
