With a sharp snap, the strap of the Omnitrix unlatched automatically and whipped toward Yuri’s left wrist.
Before Yuri could even react, the watch clamped onto his wrist.
He pulled at it, but it wouldn’t budge.
“Isn’t this the DC Universe?
Where did this thing come from?”
Everything had happened too fast, and Yuri was still struggling to process it.
He cautiously opened the car door, stepped out, and looked back toward the direction the Omnitrix had fallen from.
He scanned his surroundings, but saw nothing out of the ordinary.
Yuri fell into deep thought.
Two minutes had passed since the Omnitrix crashed through his windshield, yet the Flash hadn’t shown up.
That meant no one in Central City had witnessed the drop.
Otherwise, news of an unidentified flying object falling from the sky would have immediately drawn the Flash’s attention.
At the Flash’s speed, it wouldn’t take him even a second to run here from Central City.
Yuri climbed back into the RV, lowered his head to look at the Omnitrix on his left wrist, and tentatively pressed the activation button below the dial with his right hand.
A green light flashed from the center of the watch face.
The core popped up slightly, and a circular holographic touchscreen floated above it.
The holographic screen displayed a ring of black square icons.
Only ten were lit up, each showing a different silhouette, with the number “10” displayed in the bottom right corner.
He tapped one of the icons, and a holographic projection immediately sprang up from the center of the dial—a three-meter-tall red giant with four arms and four eyes.
“Four Arms!” Yuri blurted out.
He was far too familiar with this look.
He tapped through the remaining nine icons, recognizing every single one.
“Heatblast, Stinkfly, Diamondhead…”
“It’s real!”
Yuri pinched his cheek hard to make sure he wasn’t dreaming.
He really had the Omnitrix!
With this, his chances of surviving in the perilous DC Universe just shot up exponentially.
The Omnitrix could scan the DNA of various species and store it in its database, allowing the user to transform into that species and gain all of its innate abilities.
Beyond that, once worn, the Omnitrix bound itself to the user’s DNA to prevent theft, and it came equipped with a built-in universal translator capable of deciphering almost any language in the cosmos.
It could also repair damaged DNA and optimize complete genetic samples, ensuring that every transformation represented the absolute peak specimen of that species.
To put it simply, if Yuri were to scan a random Kryptonian, the Omnitrix would optimize the Kryptonian DNA upon storing it.
Since the ultimate physical specimen of a Kryptonian was Superman, Yuri’s Kryptonian form would effectively be modeled after Superman rather than the average Kryptonian he had scanned.
Not only could the Omnitrix sample new alien DNA, but its database already contained millions of pre-stored species—it just required specific conditions to unlock them.
In the *Ben 10* universe, there were two main generations of the Omnitrix.
The one Yuri possessed looked closer to the original Prototype Omnitrix in appearance, but its user interface functioned more like the Recalibrated version.
For now, he decided to consider it a “Mark III” Omnitrix.
Though Yuri desperately wanted to try transforming right away, he had more pressing matters to attend to.
His milk delivery window had less than half an hour left!
He was going to be late!
Yuri slammed his foot on the gas, sending the Old Rustbucket roaring toward Central City.
Twenty-nine minutes later, he pulled up in front of a supermarket chain.
Standing by the loading bay was a chubby woman in her fifties.
This was Ms.
Shufen, the supermarket’s warehouse manager.
According to the original Yuri’s memories, he had delivered goods here several times before, and Ms.
Shufen was always the one receiving the shipments.
“You’re cutting it awfully close, delivery boy.
If you were thirty seconds later, you wouldn’t be getting a single cent,” Ms.
Shufen said, checking her watch with an expression that suggested the entire world owed her five million dollars.
“In time is in time, Ms.
Shufen.
So, where’s my pay?” Yuri held out his hand.
Without a word, Ms.
Shufen pulled out three Hamiltons and slapped them into Yuri’s palm.
She then turned toward the warehouse and yelled, “Tangrui!
Jem!
Get out here and unload, you lazy bums!”
Two punkish youths in their early twenties wearing work uniforms emerged from the warehouse.
One wore a septum ring, while the other had three pairs of earrings.
“Look at the state of you two!
I can’t believe I’m cursed with nephews like you!”
Tangrui and Jem completely tuned out Ms.
Shufen’s scolding.
Tangrui, the one with the nose ring, climbed into the back of the RV to unload the crates of milk while Ms.
Shufen stood by, checking off the inventory.
Jem sauntered over to the driver’s side door and greeted Yuri.
“Hey!
Yuri, you’ve got a hole in your windshield.
Did you get mugged on the road?”
“No, just a little accident,” Yuri replied casually, feeling no affinity for the two brothers.
Tangrui and Jem were notorious hooligans around this neighborhood.
They hadn’t committed any major violent crimes, but they were heavily into whoring, gambling, and drugs.
They frequently got into trouble and had been locked up in the precinct more than a few times.
If their aunt, Ms.
Shufen, hadn’t been the warehouse manager and hired them as loaders, the two brothers would never have found a job.
Not that they actually cared about working hard anyway.
“Don’t be so cold, man.
I’ve got something to talk to you about…”
Jem stole a quick glance at Ms.
Shufen.
Once he was sure she wasn’t paying attention, he leaned in and whispered to Yuri, “I know you’re always strapped for cash.
One look at this piece-of-crap ride tells me everything.
That hole in your windshield is huge—it could shatter completely at any moment, and buying a replacement glass ain’t cheap…”
“Look at your skinny frame, man.
When was the last time you ate a proper meal?”
The more Yuri listened, the more suspicious he felt.
*What is this guy driving at?*
“What are you trying to say, Jem?”
Jem’s eyes darted around.
This time, after checking on Ms.
Shufen, he looked left and right down the street.
“Tangrui and I are planning to pull off a massive score.
If it goes right, we’re talking millions of bucks!
But we need an extra hand…”
Yuri raised an eyebrow.
Looking at this setup, the two brothers were clearly planning something illegal, and they wanted to recruit him.
*A score worth millions?
Big words for a pair of small-time losers.*
Yuri didn’t know much about Tangrui and Jem, but he was certain that with their limited intellect, any “multi-million dollar score” they came up with was either a kidnapping or a bank robbery.
Yuri couldn’t help but applaud their sheer audacity.
Did they even realize where they were?
This was Central City!
The Flash’s turf!
Pulling a stunt in this city—who did they think they were, the Rogues?
*A pair of lowlife nobodies like you actually think you can compete for a spot in the Flash’s rogues’ gallery?*
