Icarus's Point of View
"My name is Icarus, and I am trying my best to be the most powerful werewolf in this world. Despite knowing that with great power comes great responsibility, that is exactly what I want. I want it to be my responsibility to protect this world from the vampires who keep on attacking us and the humans," a handsome man in his early twenties said as he soared through the sky, gripping his spiritual weapon tightly.
A spiritual weapon was a rare and powerful tool that werewolves could wield something far more potent than mere claws and fangs in battle.
What made this weapon particularly remarkable, however, was its direct connection to the soul. It wasn’t just a weapon; it was an extension of one’s essence.
And if it were ever to break or be damaged, the consequences could be devastating not just physical injury, but the risk of crippling the user or even death itself.
Still, I trusted my bond with it trusted that my strength would grow as my weapon and I synchronized with one another.
"I know the Moon Goddess, Verity, would be proud of me for taking such a path. I am willing to do anything, sacrifice anything, just to see this world live in peace," I thought to myself, feeling a surge of determination pulse through my chest. My vision of that future, where the vampires no longer ravaged our lands, was clearer than ever. Peace would be achieved, no matter the cost.
The wind rushed past my face as I flew through the cool night sky, the village lights below shimmering like distant stars. The sensation of flight was exhilarating, but also calming, as if it allowed me to center myself amidst the chaos that had plagued my life and the world.
But the peace I yearned for always felt so far out of reach.
With a sigh, I lowered myself closer to the ground. I had learned that even the most powerful werewolf had their limits, and if I didn’t keep my human side in check, I risked losing sight of my mission. I was no stranger to the struggle of balancing my responsibilities with the ordinary life I tried to maintain. As much as my heart burned with the need to fight, my mind and spirit had learned the value of patience and education.
Nightfall had arrived, and with it, the end of my solitary flight. I reluctantly turned my path toward the school where I spent much of my time now.
It was a school meant to teach not only human subjects but also the sacred arts of werewolf cultivation.
Each lesson whether focused on honing combat skills, learning ancient history, or perfecting spiritual techniques was a step toward my ultimate goal.
I wanted to be the strongest, not for personal glory, but so I could protect those I loved and the world I vowed to defend.
But becoming the strongest meant constant sacrifice. I had to give up time with friends, moments of rest, and even some of my own desires.
Things like marriage and having kids were among the many sacrifices I had to make, but the truth was, it wasn’t just me anyone willing to join this school had to sacrifice those things. The path I walked was not one that allowed for ordinary lives or desires. It demanded a singular focus on the mission, and that mission was far greater than anything personal.
The school had rules that were as unyielding as the moon's phases. If a student was found to be in any kind of relationship, whether romantic or familial, they would face severe consequences.
Relationships were seen as distractions distractions that could cloud one’s judgment, weaken one’s resolve, and jeopardize the very goal we were all here to achieve: strength and unity in the face of the dark forces threatening the world.
It wasn’t just a matter of personal sacrifice; it was a matter of survival.
The consequences of defying this rule were harsh. If a relationship was discovered, the student responsible could be banned from the school entirely.
Their status as a werewolf warrior would be stripped away, and they would be forced to leave without any recourse.
The shame was not just on them, but on their family, their pack, and the entire institution.
This wasn't just about breaking a rule it was about breaking the sacred pact that bound all of us together: the pledge to put the mission above all else.
Adolphus Noble School. A name that carried with it the weight of history, the reverence of tradition, and the expectation of greatness. It was here, under the towering spires and within the ancient walls, that I had dedicated my life to becoming stronger to becoming a protector, a leader, and, above all, a weapon in the war against the vampires who threatened our world.
I had worked tirelessly to reach this point. After years of grueling training, countless battles, and countless sacrifices, I had earned my place among the highest ranks. I was one of the three direct disciples of our great master, Matthias. It wasn’t just any title it was a distinction given only to those who had reached the pinnacle of werewolf cultivation. To stand alongside Matthias was an honor few could ever claim. Even fewer could rival his power.
Matthias our master, our mentor, our guide. A man whose strength was unmatched by any other in this world. He had ascended to the Lycan level, a feat that most could only dream of. His power was as vast as the ocean, as unshakable as the mountains, and his wisdom… it was something that could only be gained through centuries of experience.
Tonight, I found myself kneeling in front of him once again, alongside my fellow disciples: Nikolai and Leandro. The air was thick with anticipation as we awaited his words. He had called us to a meeting, and when Matthias called for a meeting, it was never for trivial matters. It was a momentous occasion, something that could change the course of our futures.
“In this school, only two disciples have reached the most powerful level of werewolf cultivation, and that is Icarus and Nikolai,” our master began, his voice calm but carrying the weight of authority.
Nikolai, Leandro, and I remained kneeling in front of him, our heads bowed in respect. We were in the presence of greatness, and every word from Matthias was like a drop of knowledge from an ancient well. He had trained us, shaped us, and now, he was about to reveal something that would set the course of our lives into motion.
“Nikolai,” Matthias continued, “You joined us later in this school, burdened with many sins and impurities. Your past was a stain, one that you have worked hard to cleanse. However…” Matthias paused for a moment, his piercing gaze locking onto Nikolai’s. “Your heart remains full of pride. You still carry the weight of arrogance within you. You are powerful, but you are not yet ready to lead.”
I could feel Nikolai’s jaw tighten, his muscles straining with the weight of those words. His pride had always been his greatest flaw, but it had also been his strength. He was powerful no one could deny that. But the path to true power required humility, something he had yet to fully grasp.
Matthias then turned his gaze to me, and I could feel the weight of his stare settle over me like a mantle. “As for you, Icarus,” he said, his tone softer but no less serious, “It has been 18 years since you joined this school and left the Brotherhood Godhood cult you were once part of. You never told me why you left that group, and while that remains a mystery to me, it is not enough for me to reject you from my side.”
The mention of the Brotherhood Godhood cult caused a slight shiver to run down my spine. It wasn't really a dark chapter in my past, but I had decided to leave it behind when I walked through the gates of Adolphus Noble School.
I had not necessarily severed all ties with that life, but even now, I knew the echoes of that past would follow me forever. Matthias had never pressed me for answers, and in many ways, I was grateful for that. He knew what I was capable of now, and that was what truly mattered.
But then, something unexpected happened. Matthias leaned forward slightly, his eyes narrowing as he prepared to speak the words that would change everything.
“I have decided,” he began, his voice steady and resolute, “That once I ascend to the 12th heaven, I will leave you in charge of this school. I will make you the head grand master and the owner of Adolphus Noble School.”
I blinked, my heart pounding in my chest. The words seemed to hang in the air, a reality I had not prepared for.
I had worked my entire life for power, for strength, for the ability to protect those I loved.
But to be given the responsibility of running this school? To be entrusted with the leadership of the very institution that had shaped me into the man I was today?
I stared at Matthias, my mind racing, as I tried to process what he had just said. Shock ran through me like a bolt of lightning. This was more than I had ever imagined.
It was one thing to be a disciple of the master, to follow his teachings, to learn from his wisdom.
But to replace him, to become the one who would guide future generations of werewolves, to carry the weight of the world on my shoulders that was a burden I had never envisioned.
