Nan Mo was unaware of the events happening elsewhere. After waking from her afternoon nap, she discovered that Nan’s Mother had gone out. Checking her watch, she proceeded to wash vegetables and prepare dinner as usual.
Over the past couple of days, her parents’ health had improved significantly. Nan Mo found herself thinking about her brother whom she hadn’t met in both lifetimes.
She wondered if he ever got injured or how his health was. Sending him a bottle of water out of the blue would obviously be inappropriate… She could only let her brother endure this temporary hardship.
While she was lost in these thoughts, far away in the Lan City Military Region, Nan Xiao suddenly sneezed violently.
His subordinates teased him about having a weak constitution as the group joked and roughhoused their way to the cafeteria.
Just as Nan Mo finished cooking, Nan’s Father and Mother returned home.
Before the meal, they didn’t say much, simply washing their hands and sitting down to eat. However, today they served Nan Mo more dishes than usual throughout the meal.
Nan Mo helplessly dodged another piece of braised pork her father tried to add to her bowl. “Dad, I can’t even finish what’s already in my bowl.”
Nan’s Mother affectionately patted Nan Mo’s head. “Take your time eating, no rush. If you can’t finish it, leave the rest for your father.”
After dinner, Nan’s Father went to wash the dishes while Nan Mo and her mother sat on the sofa discussing Xue Mei’s visit earlier that day.
Once done with the dishes, Nan’s Father came over. “Xiao Mo, what are your thoughts about going Down to the Countryside?”
Hearing her father’s formal tone, Nan Mo immediately straightened up. “Mom, Dad, I want to go Down to the Countryside. And I’m confident I can live well there.”
Nan Mo decided to reveal her Dimension Space to her parents, having noticed their inner conflict over the past two days.
She feared that if she went to the countryside, her parents’ deep love for their daughter might drive them to make mistakes while trying to transfer her back to the city.
Moreover, these were the family members she had longed for across two lifetimes. There was no reason to make them worry when she clearly could manage well.
Another reason was a plot point from the book where after Luo Ci’s dowry was discovered, more than half of it was secretly stolen and transported away.
When Luo Ci went to retrieve it for Nan Mo’s wedding, she discovered much of the dowry was missing.
Since these items couldn’t be openly acknowledged, Luo Ci didn’t dare make the loss public.
She could only swallow her anger silently, giving the remaining money and jewelry to Nan Mo while keeping just one or two pieces for her future daughter-in-law.
By telling her parents about her Dimension Space, any family possessions that shouldn’t appear at this time could be stored safely within her space.
There was no place in this world safer than her Dimension Space.
Hearing their daughter say she was confident about living well, the couple initially thought she was just trying to comfort them.
But then Nan Mo suddenly grabbed her parents’ hands and, with a thought, brought them into her Dimension Space.
This was Nan Mo’s first time bringing others into her space, and she had been slightly worried it might not work. Seeing both parents successfully enter, she was overjoyed.
Nan’s Father and Mother, however, were clearly startled, staring in disbelief at their surroundings.
“Xiao Mo… this…” Suddenly transported to an unfamiliar environment, Nan’s Mother tightly grasped Nan Mo’s hand, afraid to let go lest her daughter disappear.
Nan’s Father also wrapped his arms protectively around his wife and daughter while scanning their surroundings.
“Mom, Dad, don’t worry. This is my Dimension Space.” Saying this, she linked arms with both of them and began giving them a tour.
“This is the Spirit Spring. I always add two drops to our meals, which is why my cooking tastes particularly good.”
“And have you noticed your health has improved recently? That’s also thanks to this water.”
Nan’s Father and Mother exchanged glances before both walked to the well and peered down into it.
Drinking just a few drops daily can improve one’s health—what kind of miraculous treasure is this?
Before they could ponder further, Nan Mo led them into the wooden cabin.
The sofa, cabinets, and appliances inside were all unfamiliar to the couple. Nan Mo patiently explained each item and let them experience everything firsthand.
The couple was utterly fascinated, enjoying themselves immensely.
After leaving Nan Mo’s bedroom, she guided them into the adjacent suite. As soon as they entered, they spotted a family portrait on the nightstand.
Nan’s Mother walked over and picked it up, realizing the people in the photo were clearly their family of four. Yet, she had no memory of this picture. Moreover, Nan Mo had mentioned that the many novel items in the Dimension space weren’t from the present era.
So, such a clear, colorful photograph couldn’t possibly have been produced with current technology.
Therefore…
Seeing his wife’s puzzled gaze toward their daughter, Nan’s Father also looked at the photo and was equally startled.
Nan Mo didn’t keep them waiting long. “Mom, Dad, the truth is, I’ve lived two lifetimes. In both, I was your daughter. In my previous life, we lived together lovingly for 22 years, until a plane crash took you and my brother away.”
“While grieving, I unexpectedly obtained this Dimension space and received a warning from the heavens that I would return here, merging my soul with this timeline’s Nan Mo to reunite with you.”
Selecting her words carefully, Nan Mo simplified the story as much as possible. As she spoke, she began opening the wardrobe. “These are your clothes and jewelry from your previous life—I brought them all with me.”
Seeing the room filled with belongings, Nan’s Father and Mother felt a pang of heartache for their daughter. Had their little Mo been all alone in her past life? How sorrowful she must have been while gathering these items…
Nan Mo then led them to the storage room door. The moment she opened it, Nan’s Father and Mother were rendered speechless by the sheer volume of supplies inside, their heartache for their daughter reaching its peak.
Nan’s Mother hugged Nan Mo, weeping uncontrollably, while Nan’s Father stood nearby, red-eyed and clenching his fists, his heart aching as he looked at their daughter.
How could this girl, whom they had cherished and protected as she grew up, have endured such hardships? How devastated must she have been when she lost them? Was she afraid without her family by her side?
To think she had sold everything based on a few dreams to rush to them—what if it had only been a dream? He couldn’t even imagine how much suffering their little Mo, just a young woman, must have endured to gather so many supplies.
In reality, Nan’s Father and Mother were overthinking it. Nan Mo hadn’t suffered much to accumulate these supplies. After all, in her previous life, as long as one had money, anything could be bought—unlike now, where even purchasing a little extra rice or flour was impossible.
“Mom, it’s all in the past. I didn’t tell you this to make you feel sorry for me. I just wanted you to know that even if we go to the countryside, I can still live well.”
Nan Mo hugged her mother back and signaled to her father with her eyes, urging him to comfort her.
Nan’s Father received the signal and gently patted his wife’s back. “There, there. Our little Mo is back with us now. We should be happy—no more crying, alright?”
Nan Mo added, “That’s right, Mom. Hurry and help me check if I’ve bought the right things and whether we need to get anything else.”
Hearing this, Nan’s Mother wiped her tears and began inspecting the supplies in the storage room.
The storage room held so many provisions that it would take days to see everything. In the end, Nan’s Mother’s eyes grew weary from looking, and she finally realized Nan Mo had been teasing her.
Nan Mo couldn’t help but marvel at how thoroughly everything was prepared, then began feeling heartache for this daughter who had to endure suffering alone.
Seeing Nan’s Mother on the verge of tears again, Nan Mo led her to the living room and used her mental power to retrieve items suitable for both parents.
“Skincare products, cosmetics, perfume, toilet paper, sanitary pads, hairdryer, electric shaver, fountain pen, insulated cup, massager, vintage electric fan, fabrics…”
Watching objects materialize out of thin air before them, Nan’s Father and Mother progressed from astonishment to acceptance, until they became somewhat numb to the spectacle as the living room became too crowded to move around.
“That’s enough, too much, too much…” Nan’s Father quickly stopped Nan Mo from continuously pulling out supplies.
“Ah! That’s right!”
Two cups of Spirit Spring Water immediately appeared in Nan Mo’s hands. “Mom, Dad, this is Spirit Spring Water. It can perform Marrow Cleansing, though it will be very painful after drinking. Just endure it and take a bath afterward.”
Without hesitation, Nan’s Father picked up a cup and drank it down.
Seeing him drink without question, Nan Mo urged him to hurry to the bathroom, telling him not to fear the pain and to endure it briefly.
Watching Nan’s Father being ushered into the bathroom, Nan’s Mother drank hers and voluntarily went to wait in the bedroom bathroom.
Nan Mo informed them both through their bathroom doors that she had placed clean clothes outside.
Since her current body hadn’t undergone Marrow Cleansing yet, after settling both parents, she entered her own bedroom bathroom.
When the three finally emerged from their rooms and gathered in the Dimension space’s living room, three to four hours had passed.
Looking at each other’s completely renewed appearance radiating from within, feeling unprecedented physical comfort throughout their bodies, the couple marveled together at the miraculous effects of the Spirit Spring Water.
They also resolved to protect Xiao Mo’s secret at all costs – they understood all too well the principle that while the common man might be innocent, possessing rare treasures could make him guilty.
