“Ow, that hurts.”

Leon rubbed his butt with a bitter expression and looked toward the mysterious figure beneath the tree.

Her hair color and eye color were both purple.

Her fitted white shirt and black suspender skirt accentuated her curvy figure.

A purple bow was tied in front of her chest, and on her feet was a pair of lace-up long boots.

Right beside her feet were two cats, one black and one white.

The white cat is Gatomon, curiously looking toward Leon, this unfamiliar visitor, while the black cat is BlackGatomon, seemed long accustomed to such scenes.

It could not even be bothered to raise its head to glance at him and simply lay on the ground sleeping.

“How did you know I was coming…”

Leon stood up and looked around in confusion.

“Who are you?

And what kind of weird place is this?”

“Welcome to the DigiLab.

This is the internal space of the Digimon System.”

A faint smile appeared on the purple-haired glasses woman’s face.

“I am the administrator, Mirei Mikagura.

You can also call me Mirei.”

“Digimon System…”

Upon hearing this name, a surprised expression appeared on Leon’s face.

Although he had loved Digimon since childhood, as he grew older, he had gradually accepted the reality that he was just an ordinary person.

He had never imagined that one day he would actually become someone chosen by the Digimon World.

The problem was, he should have long passed the age of being chosen, right?!

“Mirei, was it you who brought me here?” Leon asked doubtfully.

“Not entirely.”

Mirei Mikagura gently shook her head.

“Actually, it was this world that called you here.

You will form deep bonds with Digimon.

I was drawn to your destiny, and that is how I found you!”

“Huh?” Leon looked completely confused.

“When the time is right, you will naturally understand…”

Mirei tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and gestured with her eyes.

“For now, why don’t you first look at the thing in your hand?”

Leon immediately lowered his head and indeed discovered that, at some point, a mysterious machine the size of his palm had appeared in his hand.

This machine was mainly red in tone, with many strange symbols around it.

In the center was a glass display screen, and beside it were four golden buttons.

“This is?!”

“A Digivice, also known as a Digital Terminal.

It is the manifested product of the Digimon System.”

Mirei Mikagura adjusted her glasses and said with a serious expression, “With it, you can unlock powerful Digimon partners and become a true Digimon King!”

Leon’s expression became shocked.

Of course he knew what a Digivice was.

Whether it was the original Digivice from the first generation, the D-3 from the second generation, or the D-Ark from the third generation…

To him, they were all unforgettable childhood memories.

Because when he was little, he had even bought Digivice toys before.

Even if it was just an electronic pet, it had still been ridiculously expensive back then.

He had no choice but to secretly use his Lunar New Year money to buy one, but after returning home, his parents discovered it and directly gave him a mixed doubles beating.

It was only after he grew up that he learned the Digivice he had spent a fortune on was actually just a bootleg made by a domestic manufacturer.

Sigh, enough said.

The more he talked about it, the more tears there were.

Thinking this, Leon let out a bitter laugh and reached out to press the Digivice in his hand.

A blue floating panel instantly appeared before his eyes.

On it were four functions: Personal Information, Digimon Encyclopedia, Map, and Missions.

First was Personal Information.

Leon was currently only Level 0, so there was nothing much worth mentioning.

Next was the Digimon Encyclopedia.

The moment he opened this function, an endless massive space instantly appeared within his mind.

Within this space were all kinds of Digimon statues of every imaginable form, piled together layer upon layer like a pyramid.

At the very top of the pyramid were the legendary Digimon: the Three Great Angels, the Four Holy Beasts, the Seven Great Demon Lords, the Ancient Ten Warriors, the Olympus Twelve, the Royal Knights…These Digimon were arranged according to level.

At the very top were Ultra Digimon, below them were Mega, Ultimate, Champion, Rookie, and Fresh.

However, all these statues were gray, clearly representing that they had not yet been unlocked.

Next was the Map function.

But when he opened the map, it was completely blank inside.

“The Map function can only be used once a mission has started.

During the mission process, it will guide you to the correct location to reduce unnecessary trouble.” Seeing the confusion on Leon’s face, Mirei explained.

Emmm…

So your system even has map navigation, huh?

That really is friendly toward people with no sense of direction.

Could he say that even with navigation, he still might not find the place?

Finally, Leon opened Missions.

Missions were divided into Main Missions, Side Missions, and Special Missions, and currently there were no missions available to accept.

“What are these Special Missions?” Leon then asked.

“Special Missions, just as their name suggests, can only be triggered under specific conditions.” Mirei answered.

“When you successfully complete a Special Mission, the system will grant you generous rewards, such as DigiCrests, Digi-Eggs, Spirits, X-Antibodies, and so on.”

These were all extremely rare legendary-grade items!

If he could gather these items, he would be able to possess even more powerful Digimon!

Leon’s eyes lit up, and he involuntarily swallowed his saliva.

Digivolution, Armor Digivolution, Jogress Evolution, Spirit Evolution, X-Evolution…

Leon had already begun fantasizing about what kind of grand scene it would be if one day he could possess Omnimon, Imperialdramon Paladin Mode, Gallantmon Crimson Mode, Susanoomon, ShineGreymon Burst Mode, and Shoutmon X7 all at once, with all six generations gathered together!

However, before thinking about all that, he first needed to have a Digimon of his own.

“Mirei, how can I unlock Digimon?” Leon asked impatiently.

“By opening Digi Supply Boxes, there is a certain chance of obtaining Digi-Eggs that can hatch Digimon.”

Mirei Mikagura adjusted her glasses and patiently explained, “And there are three ways for you to obtain Digi Supply Boxes.”

“First, complete missions.

The Digimon System will reward Digi Supply Boxes based on your mission completion performance.”

“Second, level up.

Every time you level up, the system will also reward you with Digi Supply Boxes.”

“Third, purchase them from the DigiShop.

You can use DigiCoins to buy Digi Supply Boxes.”

Leon smacked his lips.

It seemed that in the future, if he wanted to unlock Digimon, he would only be able to open boxes.

“Since you have only just activated the Digimon System, there will be beginner rewards.”

Mirei gazed into Leon’s eyes.

“Which means…”

“You now have one free ten-pull opportunity!”

“Beginner benefits, huh…”

Leon’s expression suddenly flickered slightly as he guiltily shifted his gaze away.

To be honest, after playing games for so many years, his luck had never!

Been!

Good!

As long as it involved luck and probability-based draws, he almost never hit anything, so he held basically no expectations for this beginner reward.

After all, in Dungeon Fighter Online, he disconnected right after farming Vapor of Breath.

During the Arknights event, he spent over a thousand and still did not get Nian.

In Genshin Impact, every 50/50 was guaranteed to fail.

Even when speculating turnips in Animal Crossing, prices rarely exceeded 100…

Even more bizarre was that when he once played the LoveLive!

capsule toy machine at a mall, he somehow got five consecutive Nico figures in one go.

He truly did not know whether to say he was unlucky, or reverse lucky.

Leon hesitated for a moment.

“Um… Mirei, do I have to use this ten-pull right now?”

“Of course not.”

Mirei smiled slightly.

“As long as you want, you can draw whenever you like.”

“Alright then, I’ll first—”

Buzz buzz…

Just as Leon was speaking, a vibration sound suddenly came from his pocket.

He subconsciously touched his pocket and pulled out his phone.

His phone had just received a text message from someone named Donald.

“Today is Friday.

The manager will come to the store, so don’t be late!”

Crap!

Leon suddenly froze.

He had forgotten something, something very important.

That was his job.

He was currently working at a café in Queens, New York.

Normally the manager was not around, and only he and another employee handled the business.

But Fridays were different.

Every Friday, the manager personally came to the store.

He absolutely could not be late today!

“Mirei, how can I leave this place?” Leon hurriedly asked.

“This is the internal space of the Digimon System.

If you want to leave, you can leave at any time.”

“Good.” Leon nodded.

“I’ll save the ten-pull for when I come back tonight!”

With a thought from Leon, his entire body instantly transformed into countless points of light and flew into the sky, disappearing from the DigiLab.

Not long after he left, BlackGatomon finally woke up, opening its eyes and yawning.

Mirei Mikagura stroked the BlackGatomon’s head and meaningfully said, “The Wheel of Destiny has already begun to turn.

I wonder what kind of surprises he will bring to the outside world.”
