The corridors outside Vanshika’s private chamber were usually peaceful in the early morning.

Sunlight passed through tall windows, illuminating the polished floors and the intricate blue-and-white decorations that adorned the imperial residence.

Servants moved quietly through the distant halls, while the sounds of the territory gradually rose beyond the walls.Full novel: Divine Cosmology: The Beginning of Vivaan Shaktiveer — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Yet two women stood near the entrance to Vanshika’s chamber, staring at a man they had not expected to find there.

The younger healer looked at him with open suspicion.

He wore elegant but practical clothing, predominantly dark blue with silver detailing.

His appearance was neat, his posture straight, and his expression composed.

Nothing about him suggested that he had arrived to cause trouble, but his presence in this particular part of the residence was unexpected enough to make both women cautious.

The elderly medical master held the small container that had previously carried Vanshika’s medicine.

Her gaze moved from the stranger to the private chamber and back again, as though she were trying to understand how someone had reached the door without her knowledge.

The man noticed their expressions.

Rather than taking offence, he stepped back slightly to give them room and brought his hands together in a respectful greeting.

“Good morning.

I apologize if my presence has caused any concern.”

His voice was calm, and his manner carried the restraint of someone accustomed to representing others.

The younger healer did not immediately return his greeting.

“Who are you, and why are you waiting outside Lady Vanshika’s chamber?”

The man accepted the question without irritation.

He understood that the private residence was not a place where strangers could simply wander about, regardless of their position.

“My name is Mahaveer Rishi.

I am the head of the Rishi Clan and the representative of Trishna District.”

The elderly medical master’s expression changed.

She looked at him more carefully, recognition gradually replacing her initial uncertainty.

“Mahaveer Rishi?”

The man inclined his head.

“Yes, Elder.”

The younger healer turned toward the old woman.

“Wait.

Is he the Mahaveer Rishi everyone has been talking about?”

“He is,” the medical master replied.

She had heard his name many times.

Mahaveer was a young Shurveer whose dedication to Shaktiveer Territory had earned him considerable respect.

Although he was already the head of his clan and responsible for representing Trishna District, people spoke more often about his conduct than his position.

He was known for taking his responsibilities seriously and for refusing to stand aside when the safety of his homeland was at stake.

The younger healer looked at him again, now with a mixture of surprise and embarrassment.

She had expected an unknown intruder, not one of the territory’s recognized leaders.

Mahaveer noticed her change in expression and offered a small, reassuring smile.

“There’s no need to worry.

I came here because I received a summons.

I would never enter this part of the residence without permission.”

The elderly medical master nodded, satisfied by his explanation.

“Then you should wait here.

Lady Vanshika has only recently given birth, and we must not disturb her unnecessarily.”

“Of course,” Mahaveer replied.

“Her comfort comes first.”

That answer seemed to reassure the women more than his title had.

The younger healer glanced through the doorway.

She remembered Vanshika sitting on the bed with little Vivaan in her arms, completely absorbed in her son.

The thought of interrupting their time together made her hesitate.

Still, if Mahaveer had been summoned, Vanshika must have had a reason.

“I’ll inform her that you’ve arrived,” the younger healer said.

She entered the chamber quietly, leaving Mahaveer outside with the elderly medical master.

Inside, Vanshika was seated against the headboard, her long midnight-blue hair falling over her shoulders.

Her elegant blue-and-white dress was decorated with delicate crystalline patterns and tiny stars, while her earrings caught the morning light.

The Shaktiveer Soul Signature on her forehead had faded from view, leaving her familiar features unobstructed.

Vivaan rested comfortably in her arms.

His tiny fingers had found a fold of her dress, and he seemed determined to hold on to it.

Vanshika was looking down at him with an expression of such uncomplicated affection that the younger healer paused for a moment before speaking.

She still couldn’t quite understand how someone so young could have awakened and controlled his inherited Soul Signature.

Yet Vanshika had shown little interest in discussing its significance.

Her attention returned to Vivaan at every opportunity.

The healer approached the bed.

“Lady Vanshika, Mahaveer Rishi has arrived.

He says you summoned him.”

Vanshika looked up.

“Yes.

Please let him come in.”

The healer nodded, then hesitated as her gaze fell upon Vivaan.

“Would you like me to take His Highness for a little while before he arrives?”

Vanshika immediately drew Vivaan closer.

“No.”

The answer came so quickly that the younger healer couldn’t help smiling.

Vanshika noticed her expression.

“What?”

“Nothing, Lady Vanshika.” Healer said.

“You’re thinking about yesterday again, aren’t you?” Vanshika asked.

The healer’s smile widened.

“Perhaps a little.”

Vanshika gave her a playful look.

“You can admire him from there.

He’s staying with Mom.”

The younger healer lowered her head to hide her amusement.

“Of course.”

She turned toward the door, then stopped when Vanshika called after her.

“And please tell Mahaveer he doesn’t need to stand outside all morning.”

“I will, Lady Vanshika.” Healer assured.

A few moments later, Mahaveer entered the chamber.

He stopped at a respectful distance from the bed and bowed his head.

“Lady Vanshika.”

Vanshika acknowledged his greeting with a small movement of her head.

“Mahaveer.

sit.”

He approached, although his gaze briefly fell upon the newborn in her arms.

He had heard that Vanshika had given birth the previous day, but seeing her holding the child made the news feel more immediate.

She looked tired, as anyone might after such an ordeal, yet her attention was so completely occupied by the baby that the enormous chamber seemed to revolve around the small space they shared.

Mahaveer bowed once more.

“I hope you are recovering well.”

“I am.

Thank you.” Vanshika expressed her gratitude.

“That is good to hear.” Mahaveer replied.

His eyes moved toward Vivaan again, but he was careful not to intrude upon the moment.

Vanshika noticed.

“This is Vivaan.”

Mahaveer inclined his head toward the child.

“Congratulations, Lady Vanshika.”

“Thank you.” Vanshika said.

Vivaan moved one hand against her dress.

Vanshika immediately looked down to see what he wanted, and Mahaveer waited without interrupting her.

After adjusting the blanket around her son, she looked back at him.

“Now, let us discuss why I called you here.”

Mahaveer straightened.

“I am listening.”

Vanshika studied him for a moment.

She knew his reputation, his responsibilities, and the work he had undertaken for Trishna District.

More importantly, she knew that the territory needed someone capable of handling its everyday affairs without turning every matter into a personal display of authority.

She had no desire to spend her days seated in an administrative hall, reviewing records and settling routine disputes when the elders and district representatives were perfectly capable of doing so.

Her priorities had changed even further since Vivaan’s arrival.

She glanced at her son.

He had begun examining one of his own fingers with great concentration.

A small smile touched her face before she returned her attention to Mahaveer.

“I have decided to appoint you as the ruler of Shaktiveer Territory.”

Mahaveer went completely still.

For the first time since entering the room, his composure visibly faltered.

“Lady Vanshika, I must respectfully decline.”

Vanshika raised an eyebrow.

“You haven’t even heard the rest of what I have to say.”

“I understand the responsibility you are offering me.

That is precisely why I cannot accept it so quickly.” Mahaveer replied.

He brought his hands together.

“I am the head of the Rishi Clan and the representative of Trishna District.

I have duties to fulfil there.

To accept responsibility for the entire territory without proper consideration would be irresponsible.”

Vanshika listened without interrupting.

Mahaveer continued, choosing his words carefully.

“Shaktiveer Territory is home to countless families, clans, and districts.

Its administration requires someone who understands its needs and can earn the confidence of its people.

I am honoured that you considered me, but I do not believe I should accept such a position merely because you have offered it.”

Vanshika regarded him quietly.

Then she smiled.

“You’re disappointing me.”

Mahaveer looked slightly surprised.

“Lady Vanshika?”

“I would have been disappointed if you had accepted without thinking.” Lady Vanshika said.

Her answer left him momentarily uncertain.

Vanshika adjusted Vivaan in her arms before continuing.

“Let me make one thing clear.

I am not asking you to become the permanent ruler.

I am appointing you as the acting ruler.”

Mahaveer remained silent.

“You will oversee the administration, coordinate with the Grand Elder Council, and make sure the districts and clans continue to function properly.

You will have the authority necessary to carry out those responsibilities, within the established laws and traditions of the territory.” Vanshika explained.

She paused to look down at Vivaan, whose attention had shifted from his fingers to the fabric near her collar.

“And I do not expect you to ask me about every ordinary matter.

You are being appointed because I believe you can handle them yourself.”

Mahaveer’s expression became thoughtful.

Vanshika looked back at him.

“If you do not want the permanent position, you do not have to take it.

Consider this an opportunity to serve the territory without being forced to become its permanent ruler.”

Mahaveer lowered his eyes.

He understood the distinction.

The position would carry considerable responsibility, but it would also allow the territory’s administration to function without requiring Vanshika to oversee every routine decision.

Still, he had one concern.

“Would the Grand Elder Council accept my appointment?”

“They will be informed.

Their experience will remain important, and you will work with them rather than replace them.”

Vanshika’s tone was firm without being harsh.

“Shaktiveer Territory does not need one person trying to do everything.

It needs people who understand their responsibilities and fulfil them properly.”

Mahaveer considered her words.

Then he bowed his head.

“If this is truly your decision, I will accept the appointment as acting ruler.”

Vanshika nodded.

“Good.

I was beginning to think I would have to spend the entire morning convincing you.”

A faint smile appeared on Mahaveer’s face.

“I would not have wished to waste your time, especially today.”

Vanshika shifted Vivaan carefully into the crook of one arm and reached toward a small table beside the bed.

A neatly folded document lay beneath a blue crystal paperweight.

She picked it up, checked the seal, and held it out to Mahaveer.

“Take this.”

Mahaveer accepted the document with both hands.

He examined the seal bearing the Shaktiveer insignia before looking back at her.

“A letter of recommendation?”

“Yes.

It confirms my confidence in your appointment and authorizes you to begin the transition of administrative responsibilities.

The formal records can be completed with the council.”

Mahaveer bowed deeply.

“I will not not disappoint you.”

“I know.” Lady Vanshika smiled.

Vanshika said it so simply that he looked up again.

She was not offering him the position as a reward, nor was she testing his loyalty through an elaborate ceremony.

She had made a decision, considered his objections, and given him the authority required to perform the work.

That was all.

Mahaveer placed the letter securely inside his clothing.

“I will begin by meeting with the Grand Elder Council and reviewing the current administrative arrangements.

I will also ensure that the district representatives understand their responsibilities.”

“That sounds reasonable.” Lady Vanshika said.

“If there are any matters that require your direct attention, I will bring them to you.” Mahaveer said.

Vanshika gave him a look.

“Only if they genuinely require my attention.”

Mahaveer paused.

Then he understood the meaning behind her words.

A small smile appeared on his face.

“I understand.”

Vanshika glanced down at Vivaan again.

“Excellent.

Then I can return to my morning.”

Mahaveer bowed.

“I will take my leave, Lady Vanshika.

Please rest well.”

He turned and walked toward the door.

Just as he reached it, Vanshika spoke again.

“Mahaveer.”

He immediately stopped and turned around.

“Yes?”

Her expression had changed.

The light amusement was gone, replaced by a calm seriousness that made him pay closer attention.

“There is one more thing I want to ask you.”

Mahaveer returned a few steps into the room.

“Of course.”

Vanshika looked at him for a long moment.

Then she asked a question that seemed entirely unrelated to his appointment.

“Before you came here this morning, did anyone tell you that something unusual had happened in this residence yesterday?”

Mahaveer frowned slightly.

“No, Lady Vanshika.

I was informed only that you wished to see me.”

Vanshika watched his face carefully.

“Did you notice anything unusual on your way here?

Anyone behaving strangely?

Anyone asking questions about this room or about my son?”

Mahaveer’s expression became more serious.

He thought for a moment before answering.

“No one approached me with such questions.

The residence appeared peaceful, and I noticed nothing unusual on the way here.”

Vanshika remained silent.

Mahaveer waited, uncertain what had prompted the question.

“May I ask what happened?”

Vanshika lowered her eyes toward Vivaan.

The newborn had settled against her again, his tiny fingers resting peacefully against her dress.

He looked completely unaware of the conversation taking place above him.

For a moment, Vanshika’s expression softened.

Then she looked back at Mahaveer.

“Not yet.”

Mahaveer did not press her.

Vanshika continued, her voice quieter now.

“If you hear anything unusual about this residence, or if anyone begins asking questions about Vivaan, I want you to inform me personally.”

Mahaveer’s posture straightened.

“Understood.”

“Do not spread rumours, and do not frighten the people unnecessarily.

I only want to know if something genuinely requires my attention.” Lady Vanshika said.

“I will handle the matter discreetly.” Mahaveer replied firmly.

Vanshika nodded.

“Thank you.”

Mahaveer bowed once more and left the chamber.

The door closed behind him.

For a few moments, Vanshika remained seated with Vivaan in her arms, looking toward the place where Mahaveer had stood.

Then her attention returned to her son.

Vivaan moved his hand, catching the edge of her dress again.

Vanshika smiled and gently held his fingers.

“Well, little one.

It seems Mom has found someone to take care of the boring work.”

Vivaan blinked at her.

She laughed softly.

“And you can stay right here with me.”

She leaned back against the pillows, keeping him close.

Outside, Mahaveer Rishi walked through the quiet corridor with the recommendation letter safely in his possession.

He had arrived expecting an ordinary summons from the territory’s ruler.

Instead, he had left with responsibility for the entire administration—and a question he could not yet understand.

Why had Vanshika been so concerned about whether anyone had noticed something unusual around her newborn son?

He looked down briefly at the sealed document before continuing toward the Grand Elder Council’s administrative hall.

He would fulfil the responsibility entrusted to him.

But he would not forget her question.

And inside the imperial chamber, Vanshika gently brushed Vivaan’s hair away from his forehead, her gaze lingering on the place where his Shaktiveer Soul Signature had appeared earlier that morning.

For now, she had no intention of letting the outside world disturb their peaceful life.

Still, she could not entirely dismiss the unusual sensation she had felt within her son.

There was something she had sensed but had not yet explained.

Something she had chosen not to discuss with either healer.

And for the moment, it would remain between her and the tiny child resting in her arms.
