Dylan looked mortified at the thing staring back at him.
Probably feeling the light illuminating his entire body.
Rhys wasn’t doing too well either, not wanting to make a sound as much as possible.
*RUMBLE…
The grumbling grew louder, and the thing stomped its way over to Dylan.
Rhys looks up as its legs were towering over him.
Dylan was slowly walking backwards, whilst stuttering something under his breath.
Dylan: [Holy shit…!]
It got around 2 metres away from Dylan, with its ass in perfect view for Rhys, bending down to sniff the air before finally taking a swing.
*BOOM!
*CRASH!
Trees split in half and fell to the ground as its right hand glided through the air.
It smashed onto the ground where Dylan was standing, but no blood came out from the spot.
That’s because Rhys already took action.
Rhys: [Why!!!
Why’d you come here!
You fucking idiot!!!]
He was running as fast as he could, with Dylan in his hands.
Passing by dead animals, toppled trees, and the mangled remnants of past victims.
Dylan held his breath for a couple of seconds before taking a deep, jittery breath.
Dylan: [I don’t know!
I saw you coming out here, and didn’t want you to get hurt!]
He was holding on to Rhys for dear life, feeling the branches smack his face every couple of seconds.
Dylan: [Is that the creature?!]
Rhys: [Yes!
Dumb fuck!
Now I have to deal with you, too!!]
The thing suddenly burst through some trees to their right, sending them down in its direction.
Rhys pivots left and fiercely turns just in time.
It was right on their tail though, sending everything around them down to the ground from its swinging and stomping.
Rhys picks up the pace to create distance.
Rhys: Goddamn, this thing’s fast!
Rumbling shook every inch of the forest.
Animals were hiding and shivering.
Hoping the thing kept busy.
They made it do a ditch; it seemed to have some weird flooring, but it would do.
Rhys tosses Dylan down the hole and runs over to the thing.
It tries to slam Rhys away, but Rhys’s speed equalled that of his opponents in this life or death scenario.
He climbs onto its left leg and starts biting the flesh clean off.
His new teeth helped tremendously.
It screamed with pain and wiggled its leg violently, making Rhys fly into another tree.
His spine shattered on impact, and he started hacking up blood.
Rhys: FUCKING HELL!!
He immediately sprang back out of his macaque-sized carving and put all his body weight onto a single punch sent directly to its face.
The feedback was intense, feeling as if his right arm was about to break into a million pieces.
Every single bone cracked, and the thing barely moved an inch.
It grabbed Rhys and slammed him back into the ground with the force of 2 sky scrapers falling on top of a hamster.
Keep going!
Rhys struggled to get up, feeling as if the bone fragments were cutting up his insides.
That didn’t matter though, since the thing was rapidly sniffing the air, probably for where Dylan was.
Don’t give up!
Rhys: [NO!!]
He launched back into action, racing over to get to it before it got Dylan.
Just as it was about to grab Dylan from inside the ditch, Rhys pummelled his left fist into its leg.
It came crashing down from the force, landing onto some branches and causing a massive shockwave from the impact.
Do something!
Dylan was too busy being horrified at the amalgamation below him.
Tons and tons of human remains were piled here; some were adults, and some were children.
Some were eaten, and some were not.
It roars like no other, winds coming from its gaping emptiness of a mouth.
Rhys was standing there, trying to keep his body together, trying to save his friend.
He had already accepted his death, if it meant letting Dylan see one more day.
If it meant making sure everyone was happy and safe.
He would gladly, go down that path.
Rhys charged in and started repeatedly kicking the creature in the head with his legs.
With a lot less force, which meant they luckily didn’t break on impact.
He felt the goopy mess on his arms flailing around the place as he kicked.
Shooting pain from them kept him awake and alert.
It bites and tears Rhys’s right leg clean off.
Rhys screams in pain before the creature grabs him by the mouth and throws him back down.
Rhys slams back into the ground, feeling as if his stomach, intestines, and liver were falling apart from the inside.
He then noticed that his lower jaw wasn’t in its spot anymore.
It threw Rhys’s lower jaw down its throat, swallowing it instantly.
Then, it got back up, dusted the debris off its face, and sent its hand down the ditch that Dylan was in.
Rhys screamed as he tried with all his strength to get back up and stop it.
Without his leng though, he wasn’t able to do much except watch.
Watch as Dylan emerged from the ditch.
Watch as such intensity squeezed him.
Watch as he looked over at him, tears streaming down his face.
Dylan: [I don’t want to die… I DON’T WANT TO DIE!]
*CRUNCH!
Watch as his head gets bitten off, leaving only his lifeless torso to be thrown back down the pit.
In that moment, Rhys had given up.
“What’s the point of trying to live anymore?” was the question going through his mind.
Rhys’s eyes were slowly shifting black, which intrigued the creature.
The scar on his head was also disappearing.
There was no point in hiding it anymore.
No point in trying to get better.
The people who were supposed to care for him sent him out on a death mission.
And to pour salt on the wound.
His only friend was dead.
A faint smile slowly formed on Rhys’s face as he waited patiently while the creature slowly stomped its way over to him.
It took another sniff of the air and grabbed Rhys’s weak and mangled body.
Rhys: [P-please… kill me…]
The memories flashed through his vision as the creature slowly opened its mouth and took a bite.
*CRUNCH!
Rhys was dead.
The creature threw his limp body into the ditch, right next to Dylan’s.
It then looked around and saw the shining light coming from the village up north.
It: Yummy…
It thought before slowly stepping its way out of the first, getting ready for its next enormous meal.
Y’know… if only Rhys had left the village, right?
