His tall, broad frame stood firmly behind her.

“You’re here.”

The store Xu Zhixia had chosen was upscale one outfit could cost a hundred yuan.

That was roughly a month’s salary for a regular worker.

She hadn’t expected Lu Xiuyuan to be so extravagant, immediately buying so much.

The sales clerk was thrilled; waiting had indeed paid off. Following Lu Xiuyuan’s earlier gestures, she hurriedly began packing the clothes.

A man like this buying so many items at once wasn’t common she had to seize the opportunity.

While packing, Lu Xiuyuan didn’t forget to take Xu Zhixia’s small handbag from her:

“I’ll carry it.”

Xu Zhixia looked at her tiny bag in his hands it looked out of place and reached for it:

“I’ll carry it myself.”

It wasn’t heavy; she could manage it.

Lu Xiuyuan also handed her his wallet:

“Use this to pay for whatever you buy.”

Xu Zhixia held the thick stack of cash, flaunting it in front of Li Ling and the others:

“See that? Where a man’s money is, there’s love. Oh, I almost forgot you’re all single, so how would you understand?”

Li Ling stared in shock at the scene, then turned to Bai Jingya:

“Didn’t you say they were divorcing? This doesn’t look like a divorce at all.”

Bai Jingya’s crying stopped:

“Th… the other day, Xu Zhixia did… indeed cut…”

She almost revealed Xu Zhixia’s wrist-cutting incident to prove herself.

But the next second, Xu Zhixia interrupted:

“Bai Jingya, don’t forget why you moved out of the Xu family.”

A dark gleam flashed in her eyes. Bai Jingya knew she couldn’t say another word or she’d end up in jail.

She could only shake her head.

Xu Zhixia grew tired of the dog-eat-dog spectacle, took her mother’s arm, and walked toward another store.

Her mother looked puzzled:

“What was Bai Jingya trying to say just now? She got interrupted.”

“Nothing. Don’t waste time on useless people.”

Xu Zhixia didn’t hold back with Lu Xiuyuan either. The wardrobe at home needed a major overhaul.

She bought four or five outfits, three or four pairs of shoes, and a handbag.

She also got a set of skincare products. Later, she would make her own ointments but bought a set for now.

She even bought two outfits for her mother before stopping.

After finishing, Lu Xiuyuan’s hands were full of shopping bags.

Xu Zhixia glanced at him, feeling like something was missing.

Right she hadn’t bought him even a little something yet, and he didn’t show the slightest displeasure.

Looks like his morals were really good.

After finishing the second floor, she led them toward the third.

Lu Xiuyuan quickly stopped her:

“The third floor is men’s clothing.”

Xu Zhixia nodded approvingly:

“I know. I’m buying for you.”

Her smile made her eyes sparkle like stars, softening Lu Xiuyuan’s heart.

It was her first time buying him anything was she really doing it willingly?

He followed her, stunned, feeling bursts of fireworks ignite in his chest.

On the third floor, Xu Zhixia quickly found clothes suitable for him.

She instructed the sales clerk to fetch them.

Holding up the clothes against him, they all knew how handsome he would look.

He was naturally made to wear clothes.

Xu Zhixia nodded with satisfaction; Lu Xiuyuan, being praised, looked slightly embarrassed.

She was pleased with his shy, awkward reaction the contrast made him even more endearing.

Perhaps after too long without shopping, seeing all this made her excited.

She immediately chose three outfits. Just as she wanted to continue, Lu Xiuyuan stopped her:

“If you want to buy more, get two for yourself. I can’t wear that many in the army.”

Buying too much would be wasteful; better to let his wife enjoy spending.

Seeing she was almost done, Xu Zhixia’s mother spoke:

“All right, Xiao Yuan’s hands are full. Buy more next time.”

It seemed her daughter’s wardrobe was about to get a complete makeover. The old, messy clothes would all be discarded.

Everyone had fun at the department store.

Her mother, seeing Lu Xiuyuan so generous to her daughter, felt their bond was strong.

On the way home, Xu Zhixia spotted a large pharmacy:

“Stop, stop!”

She ran inside, grabbed a prescription, and picked up a large bag of herbs.

Back in the car, her mother asked curiously:

“What’s that for?”

“For Grandpa Lu. I plan to make some ointments; it should help his rheumatism.”

“You know how to do that?”

“Mm, after getting married, I liked learning things myself. Your daughter’s impressive, huh?”

Her mother worried Xu Zhixia might seem composed now, but she used to be reckless.

If Grandpa Lu used her remedies, what if it made things worse?

She said anxiously:

“Professional matters should be handled by professionals. Better let hospital experts do it.”

Xu Zhixia knew her mother was underestimating her and snorted:

“Hmph, you have no idea what I did today. Oh, and this is vitamin C take three a day. It helps eliminate heavy metals and boosts immunity. Short-term use is fine, but not long-term.”

Lu Xiuyuan, driving, heard their conversation and chuckled, approving Xu Zhixia’s expertise.

Her mother, shocked, said:

“Didn’t expect you to have this skill.”

As they neared home, her mother asked Lu Xiuyuan:

“Drop me off at the old house. Why should I leave home to make them happy?”

Her mother figured that with the couple getting along so well, her presence might be inconvenient for them.

She wasn’t sure when her grandchildren would arrive.

Lu Xiuyuan instinctively glanced at Xu Zhixia for her opinion.

Seeing her nod, he changed direction.

She teased:

“Mom, you’re not missing Dad, are you? Don’t hold back your temper.”

“Take it out on him I’ve got your back.”

“Hold it in and you’ll only get angrier. Let it out, or you’ll get mastitis.”

Her mother glared at her what was she saying in front of her son-in-law?

Xu Zhixia thought: no point in holding back if her mother wanted to go back, let her.

By the time Xu Zhixia and Lu Xiuyuan returned to the marital home, night had fallen.

Lu Xiuyuan carried the day’s purchases into the master bedroom.

He saw Xu Zhixia standing with her back to him, changing clothes.

Her smooth shoulders seemed to glow; he quickly looked elsewhere.

“You… why didn’t you lock the door?”

Xu Zhixia turned her head and saw her husband standing at the doorway, looking like a flustered schoolboy.
