That would make her seem like some big gluttonous girl.

She admitted she was a little greedy but what she craved was his embrace.

It was all her fault in her previous life, making so many mistakes that her credibility was now so low. But she believed time could fix everything.Full novel: Divorce Night in the 80s I’m Pregnant with the Commander’s Child — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He was kneading the dough; she couldn’t just stand there waiting to eat.

She lowered her head and searched through the cabinet. When Lu Xiuyuan dropped the noodles into the pot, she tossed in a few vegetable leaves as well.

She added some lard, salt, soy sauce, and pepper into two bowls, then ladled hot broth over them.

Lu Xiuyuan watched her smooth, practiced movements and was stunned for a few seconds.

So she actually knew how to cook.

She just hadn’t wanted to cook for him before.

Her hair fell gently over her shoulders, a few playful strands slipping into her collar.

In the summer heat, she was dressed lightly. When she bent down, the marks on her chest slipped into his line of sight.

He quickly averted his eyes.

His fingers unconsciously tightened.

He hadn’t used much force last night. It was just that her skin was delicate after only a little, visible marks would appear.

He hadn’t expected Xu Zhixia to wake up crying and making a scene, threatening him with death to force a divorce.

But perhaps that was to be expected. She had always been indifferent to him before, avoiding him whenever she could.

Xu Zhixia quickly finished seasoning the noodles and looked at Lu Xiuyuan with sparkling eyes.

“Let’s eat outside. I’ll have to trouble you to carry the noodles out.”

She innocently raised her injured wrist.

Lu Xiuyuan didn’t know what she was trying to do. Since she wanted noodles, he would eat with her.

At worst, it would just be another round of humiliation.

He carried two large bowls out.

Xu Zhixia really did seem hungry. As soon as the noodles were set on the table, she leaned down to smell them before stuffing a mouthful into her mouth.

She ate quickly. Sometimes she didn’t even blow on the noodles, burning the tip of her tongue red.

Even when scalded, she didn’t spit it out just breathed lightly.

It actually looked rather cute.

Lu Xiuyuan was surprised. Normally, if there were two dishes missing, she would throw a tantrum. Today there wasn’t even one dish.

Yet she was eating happily.

Seeing her slightly reddened tongue reminded him of the taste of kissing her.

His lower abdomen tightened instantly the familiar urge returning.

He lowered his head and began shoveling noodles into his mouth, no longer looking at her.

She really must be that hungry.

Perhaps she was afraid she wouldn’t get to eat them again after he left.

A mocking smile tugged at his lips, but unconsciously he slowed his pace, trying to match hers.

Xu Zhixia had been busy all day. Once the noodles were in front of her, she couldn’t control herself.

She was starving. Only after eating nearly half a bowl did she remember Lu Xiuyuan was sitting beside her. She touched the corner of her mouth.

Hopefully there weren’t any bits left.

“The noodles you make are really delicious.”

Lu Xiuyuan stood up.

“Should I cook you some more?”

Xu Zhixia hurriedly waved her hands.

“No, no. I’ll be full after I finish this.”

If he made her another bowl, she’d look like a bottomless pit.

Seeing her expression didn’t seem fake, Lu Xiuyuan sat back down and finished eating.

He automatically took on the task of washing the dishes. When he came back out, Xu Zhixia still hadn’t gone upstairs.

She was sitting in her chair, staring at him.

It seemed that staring at him was what she had done most today. He reached up and touched his face.

There was nothing there.

Seeing his movement, Xu Zhixia burst into laughter.

“Relax, there’s nothing there. You look very handsome.”

In her previous life, she had never really looked at him properly.

Only after surviving the apocalypse did she understand just how exceptional a man like him was.

Handsome, capable, and able to shoulder responsibilities.

Standing beside him felt infinitely safe. Yet she had single-handedly ruined such a good man.

There was a saying.

Life is like an open wilderness. Without resources, how can you roam?

After she died, her soul hadn’t immediately entered the apocalypse.

She had watched with her own eyes as Lu Xiuyuan risked his life to complete his mission quickly so he could handle her funeral.

On her tombstone were the words: “Beloved Wife Xu Zhixia,” signed by Lu Xiuyuan.

He kept vigil by her grave for three days and three nights.

She didn’t know what happened afterward. She only remembered that when Lu Xiuyuan coughed up his first mouthful of blood, she was transported into the apocalypse.

When Lu Xiuyuan heard her call him handsome, his body stiffened even more. Xu Zhixia had never said such words before.

Handsome?

He knew he was handsome. Otherwise, so many young women in the army wouldn’t have tried to set up blind dates with him over the years.

But they were about to divorce. What was the point of saying such things now?

He lowered his sleeves and wiped his hands.

“I’m leaving. Nine o’clock tomorrow morning at the Civil Affairs Bureau.”

Seeing he was about to go, Xu Zhixia quickly said,

“Wait I need your help with something.”

Lu Xiuyuan looked at her quietly, waiting for her to say what she needed.

Xu Zhixia lowered her head, the tips of her ears turning red.

She frantically recalled the illustrated books she had read in the apocalypse what did women do when they wanted to seduce a man?

Speak but hesitate.

She bit her lip and said awkwardly,

“Come upstairs with me. It’s not convenient here.”

Lu Xiuyuan nodded. Seeing how embarrassed she looked, he figured they were finally getting to the point.

At that moment, he had no idea what awaited him.

Fine. After all, they were still husband and wife. Whatever he could help with, he would.

Surely she wasn’t going to ask him to find a job for that pretty boy?

The day after seeing that man, he had already investigated his background.

After graduating high school, the man had drifted aimlessly without even a proper job.

Lu Xiuyuan didn’t know where he fell short. Perhaps the only difference was his skin tone.

His wheat-colored skin would never turn creamy white.

Thinking of this, a layer of coldness gathered around him again.

Xu Zhixia didn’t know why he had suddenly grown angry. Standing at the stairs, she said softly,

“Hurry up.”

Lu Xiuyuan followed her upstairs. When he saw her enter the bedroom, he was puzzled.

It had been so long since Xu Zhixia had hugged him that she felt shy about it now.

She decisively walked to the table, picked up the divorce agreement, tore it into pieces, and threw the scraps into the air.

Staring into his eyes, she said,

“I… I don’t want to divorce you. Can’t we just live our life together properly?”
