[ Note: The plot of this story was purely the author’s imagination. It was set in a fictional world, please do not take it too seriously. ]
In the tenth year of the apocalypse, a thick fog blanketed the sky. Tiny particles in the air were inhaled into people’s lungs, piercing them from within and causing death, turning the human world into a demonic purgatory.
Inside a dark and dilapidated basement, a woman covered in blood had both her hands hanging in a grotesque downward position. Her slender legs were now a mangled mess of flesh and blood—they had been brutally smashed to pieces.
The door opened.
The blinding light made Wen Ruchu turn her head away and close her eyes, feeling extremely uncomfortable. When she opened them again, the first thing she saw was a pair of red high heels. Looking upward, she saw her “good best friend,” Tang Xinhua. The gentle and pleasant face she once had now appeared terrifying and twisted in Wen Ruchu’s eyes.
“Ruchu, be sensible. Hand over your Dimensional Space. Maybe then I’ll let you die a little more quickly.”
Wen Ruchu stared coldly at Tang Xinhua.
“I’ve always believed that I treated you well all these years. Whether before the apocalypse or after it, no matter what happened, I never once thought of abandoning you. Tang Xinhua, doesn’t your conscience hurt at all?”
“Huahua, why are you still wasting words with this bitch? Since she’s unwilling to hand over the Dimensional Space, just kill her.”
Upon hearing that familiar voice, Wen Ruchu’s pupils shrank.
Her good boyfriend, Shen Chiyan, was standing behind Tang Xinhua. His arm wrapped around the woman’s waist, and Tang Xinhua leaned back naturally into the man’s embrace.
Heh. They really looked like a match made in heaven.
Wen Ruchu only hated herself for being blind, for not discovering the affair between them earlier. She had been completely kept in the dark, believing that the two of them were the most important people in her world. She had even told them about the Dimensional Space and desperately searched for supplies, all so the three of them could survive better in the apocalypse.
“Wen Ruchu, what you gave me was nothing but leftover charity. Before the apocalypse or after it, what was I to you? Your little follower? If you truly treated me as your best friend, how could you not know that I also liked Brother Chi? And you—teachers valued you, and you were always the center of attention wherever you went. Where was I inferior to you? You just happened to have a better family background. Even when the apocalypse came, heaven still favored you and gave you a Dimensional Space. I was nothing more than your pitiful little tag-along.”
Tang Xinhua became emotional, then burst into laughter.
“But now, all of this will belong to me.”
Shen Chiyan gently comforted the woman.
“Be good, Huahua. I only love you now. You mustn’t get too worked up—you’re carrying our child.”
Tang Xinhua calmed down a little and kissed the man on the face.
“I know, Brother Chi. You’ve always loved me.”
Wen Ruchu looked coldly at the two people displaying their “affection” before her.
They wanted her Dimensional Space?
Unfortunately, they didn’t have the life to claim it.
Thinking of the Dimensional Space, Wen Ruchu used her consciousness to ignite the explosives stored inside it. Then she transferred all the explosives and grenades out of the Dimensional Space, letting them appear right in front of her.
Seeing the sudden pile of explosives, the two panicked and ran toward the door. They probably hadn’t expected Wen Ruchu to choose to perish together with them.
But it was already too late.
As a mushroom cloud rose into the sky, Wen Ruchu unwillingly closed her eyes.
If she could live another life, she would make sure to cut those two into a thousand pieces.
…
The girl on the princess bed woke up with a start.
Large beads of sweat rolled down her forehead. Wen Ruchu suddenly opened her eyes.
What was this?
Heaven?
No.
Wen Ruchu sat up.
This familiar yet slightly unfamiliar room—it was her room from before the apocalypse!
What was going on?
Relying on her memory, Wen Ruchu got out of bed and walked into the bathroom. The girl in the mirror had fair skin, delicate features, and long beautiful hair. She looked nothing like the miserable survivor struggling to stay alive in the apocalypse.
Wen Ruchu raised her hands. They were smooth and delicate, not covered in thick calluses from searching for supplies.
She had been reborn.
Looking at herself in the mirror, Wen Ruchu smiled as tears streamed from her eyes.
She had come back.
Thinking of something, Wen Ruchu hurried back to her room and found her phone. After ten years of the apocalypse, she had long forgotten the password. Fortunately, there was facial recognition and fingerprint unlocking.
She turned on the long-forgotten phone and checked the date.
June 23, 2167.
There were still two months before the apocalypse on August 23, 2167.
Two months.
That was enough time to accomplish many things. Enough time for her to stockpile sufficient supplies and survival equipment.
And also enough time to send those two scumbags straight to hell.
Wen Ruchu walked to her jewelry table and took out a jade pendant from the drawer. This pendant had been left to her by her parents. In her previous life, while protecting supplies, she had been injured and accidentally stained it with blood, which had activated a Dimensional Space.
Thinking about it, Wen Ruchu picked up a fruit knife without hesitation and cut her index finger, letting the blood drip onto the pendant.
Instantly, the jade pendant turned into a beam of white light and merged into her chest. A golden wing-shaped mark appeared there.
Wen Ruchu remembered that she didn’t seem to have this mark in her previous life.
But she didn’t dwell on it too much. Instead, she used her consciousness to sense her Dimensional Space.
Just like in her previous life, it was about the size of a football field.
However, there was something extra inside the Dimensional Space this time—a house with a yard.
A house?
Wen Ruchu extended her consciousness inside. There was nothing particularly special about it. It was just a small two-story house.
Besides, she couldn’t enter it anyway.
But just as she thought this, Wen Ruchu suddenly felt dizzy, and the scenery around her changed.
This environment…
Her Dimensional Space!
She had actually entered it!
In her previous life, she couldn’t enter—she could only use it for storage.
The yard wasn’t large, only containing a small vegetable patch. On the front door of the house was a display showing 09:53:03.
Wen Ruchu entered the house.
The interior was empty except for some simple furniture. The first floor had two rooms, a bathroom, and a kitchen. The second floor had only one room and another bathroom.
What delighted her even more was that the faucet inside the house actually had running water!
Did this mean she would never have to worry about water again in the future?
Since she could enter this place, could she also live inside the Dimensional Space permanently?
However, imagination was beautiful, while reality was cruel.
Wen Ruchu suddenly collapsed onto the ground. When she opened her eyes again, she had returned to her room.
She tried to enter the Dimensional Space again but was rejected.
Looking at the time, Wen Ruchu understood.
Ten minutes.
That was the meaning of the numbers on the door—it represented the amount of time she could stay inside the Dimensional Space.
Although it wasn’t long, she was already satisfied.
Ten minutes could be extremely useful in the apocalypse. It could help her avoid many dangers.
After experiencing such overwhelming emotions of joy and despair, Wen Ruchu finally realized she was hungry—very hungry.
She walked out of her room and went downstairs to the refrigerator.
Opening it, she found it stuffed with fresh food.
Wen Ruchu grabbed as much ready-to-eat food as she could hold in her arms, sat directly on the floor, and began devouring it ravenously.
