Raven carefully analysed the horrified man in front of her.
He looked like he’d forgotten how to breathe evenly.
Raven didn’t try to hurry him; she let him slowly process the information she had given him.
“D-did you just say Regnar Dragaoth?” Raven nodded, confirming Oscar’s worst fears.
The fifth seat of passions leaned back in his chair, his arms dropped down beside him, an empty chuckle leaving his lips.
Meanwhile, Raven kept her eyes on her watch, waiting impatiently.
Can this damn watch move any slower?
Does Asmari have any idea how suffocating it is to share a room with a 7-star who isn’t even bothering to restrain his presence?
Fuck, I can barely breathe in here.
If you haven’t pieced it together yet—Raven, the supposed second-seat successor, is actually Mina in disguise.
She’s playing a role that doesn’t even exist, all thanks to the information Asmari wrote down for her.
With her Aspect—perfect photographic memory—Mina memorised every detail, turning it into a completely fabricated persona meant to distract the priest.
What she couldn’t figure out was how Asmari knew all this in the first place.
How did he know about a top-secret organisation?
How did he know the priest was involved?
How did he anticipate every question the priest would ask and every answer she’d have to give to avoid suspicion?
He claimed it all came from a dream, but Mina didn’t buy that for a second.
Ever since Asmari woke up, he’d been different—no more hitting or constant cursing, just this unsettling air of mystery, as if he knew everything.
Sometimes, Mina wondered if he was truly still Asmari.
But the way he sat, the way he spoke, that prideful, arrogant edge—those things were impossible to fake.
“Who found out, and how?” Oscar’s sudden question made Mina flinch, but she already had an answer ready.
“I don’t know the details; I got sent here to inform you about the meeting in three days and its content.” Oscar studied her closely.
“The council meetings are top secret; not even the successors to the seats are allowed to know when or where they are held.
So tell me, how do you know?”
Mina flinched, but inside she was panicking.
Fuck you, Asmari.
You didn’t even cover this part.
How the hell am I supposed to answer?
Oscar’s suspicion only grew as she stayed quiet.
But before he could press further, Mina jumped in.
“The leader deemed this so important that every current successor has to attend.” She was bluffing for her life.
“The leader is going to be present?” Oscar asked, his gaze razor-sharp.
Is this some kind of sick joke?
Fantastic.
I’m absolutely screwed.
Why is he asking questions Asmari never prepared me for?
Should I rat Asmari out?
Yeah, if I’m going down, I’m taking that bastard with me.
“Are you going to answer, or stay quiet all day?” Oscar’s tone was pure command, not a question.
Shit, I’ll just keep doubling down until I get caught.
“Like I said, the leader decided it was important enough for every seat and successor to show up—including himself.”
“So you’re telling me the leader—who never once showed up, not even when two sovereigns vanished at the same time, and whose face no one’s ever seen—is suddenly going to be here?”
Damn, why does their leader have to be so edgy and mysterious?
“Yes,” Mina said, her face giving nothing away.
Oscar went silent, lost in thought.
Time to get out of here.
Mina stood up abruptly.
“Fifth seat, I’ve delivered my message.
I have other duties to attend to, so I’ll be taking my le—”
“Sit,” Oscar demanded, cutting Mina off completely.
“Wha—”
“Sit,” he said again, his voice edged with threat.
Mina felt it—if she disobeyed, she was dead.
She dropped into her chair, trembling, breath ragged as she struggled for air.
“Excuse my little outburst.
I don’t like repeating myself.” Patience, my ass—he nearly killed me for not hearing him right.
Mina forced herself to breathe evenly again.
“No, I apologize for standing up without your permission.” Oscar raised an eyebrow.
“Permission?
Why would you need my permission to stand up?” Mina frowned, but Oscar pressed on.
“You know you’re only supposed to follow your master’s orders or the leaders, right?
Didn’t your master ever teach you that?”
Oscar frowned.
“Or are you really the successor to the second seat?” Mina’s face went pale; her grey eyes shook.
She felt like she was walking a tightrope over a pit—one mistake and she was dead.
“Y-yes, Master didn’t tell me.” Damn it, why am I stuttering?
Mina bit her lip, trying to steady herself.
“Didn’t tell you, huh?
Then tell me—where is your master right now?” Mina’s mind went blank.
She shot a desperate glance at the clock behind him.
“You’ve looked at the clock a dozen times since we got here.
Why is that?” Oscar tilted his head, a sly grin on his lips.
“And why would the leader summon us when everyone knows there isn’t even a leader?
At least, that’s what all successors are supposed to believe.
No one but the seats is supposed to know about the leader’s existence.
Yep, I’m dead.
So tell me: who are you?
What’s your real goal here, and how do you know about the Star Dust Group?
Speak quickly, and I’ll make your death quick.
But if you lie…”
Mina glanced at the clock: thirty seconds.
I need to distract him for thirty seconds, then it will be fine.
“I work directly for the leader.
That’s how I know.” Oscar scoffed at the obvious lie.
“Is that your way of stalling for time?” Before Mina could react, Oscar’s killing intent slammed into her, dropping her to the floor.
She collapsed onto her side, clutching her chest and gasping for air.
Her face went ghostly pale, her eyes unfocused, the life in them fading fast. The source of this chapter is g.com.
The pressure vanished just before Mina passed out.
She sucked in a sharp breath, sprawled on her back.
Oscar stood over her, eyes glinting with amusement.
“Are you ready to talk now?
Tell me, who do you work for?”
Mina didn’t answer.
Instead, still gasping for air, she raised her hand and gave him the finger straight to his face.
“Fuck you, son of a bitch.” The man barely flinched, though his smile twitched.
Alright, if you want to die so badly, I’ll help you.
He pulled back his leg, ready to kick her hard enough to kill—but just then, the nun on watch rushed in.
“Priest Anvil, the vault has been breached, and the person is after the orb of chastity from what we could see from the cameras.”
Oscar, who’d been wearing a sinister grin, changed in an instant.
His smile vanished, his expression darkening into something barely human.
“Has the person escaped?” The nun looked startled at the change of character.
She had never seen the priest have anything but a smile on his face.
She looked down and also saw the young lady on the floor.
“P-Priest Anvil, what is happening?” she asked in bafflement.
“Has the person escaped?” he repeated, but this time his voice was commanding and left no choice but to answer.
A shiver ran through the nun’s body.
Trembling, she answered anyway.
“No, he is currently fighting a guard,” she blurted out as fast as she could.
“Good.” As soon as he said that, the nun standing there, her face filled with nothing but horror, exploded into pieces.
Her body exploded, pieces flying across the room.
Mina even felt brain matter splatter her face, but she barely noticed—her mind was locked onto the ticking clock and the man looming above her.
Ten seconds.
Nine.
Eight.
She counted down every second in her head.
“So this was your plan?
Distract me so your friend could rob the vault?” Oscar chuckled darkly.
“Not bad.
But it ends here—for you, at least.
Since I don’t need you anymore, I’ll kill you and hunt down your friend.”
He raised his foot again, intent on pulverising her with a single stomp.
But Mina did something unexpected—she spat on his foot, grinning in victory as she spoke.
“Hey, dickhead.” Oscar froze.
“Go suck on your mommy’s tits, fucker.” As soon as Mina said those words, her body began to warp in impossible ways.
Oscar snapped out of his daze and slammed his foot down with terrifying speed.
Boom.
The whole room shook, and the floor cracked as dust filled his view.
Oscar pulled his foot from the dent he’d made in the floor—but it was already too late.
Before his foot even landed, Mina had already disappeared.
