The Underworld, the Hall of King Yemma.

Kami laid out his plan to King Yemma in full detail.

Having learned everything that had happened on Earth — how Oryon and Goku had averted a catastrophe and spared him a mountain of paperwork — King Yemma was deeply grateful.

So he agreed to let Son Goku go find King Kai.

Son Goku asked, a little curious, “Say, Uncle King Yemma, that Raditz guy — did he come through here after he died?”

King Yemma said, “He did. I sent him straight to Hell, though. Why do you ask?”

“What, he didn’t kick up a fuss?”

King Yemma laughed.

“Oh, he tried. I put him in his place, though.”

Son Goku marveled, “Wow, you’re amazing! Putting down a guy that strong all by yourself.”

With that, Goku turned to Kami and asked, “Can I just train under Lord King Yemma, then?”

Kami started in alarm.

“No! Be quiet. Lord King Kai is far stronger than him.”

King Yemma shot Kami a contemptuous glance.

“Little god of Earth, are you saying King Kai is stronger than me? When you die, maybe I should just send you to Hell instead?”

Kami broke out in a cold sweat at once.

“S-sorry! Forgive me, it was just a slip of the tongue…”

King Yemma waved a hand.

“Forget it, forget it. Talking to you is no fun at all — you don’t have a shred of humor in you. I don’t have time to teach him anyway. Someone, send him to Snake Way!”

King Yemma added one more warning: “Snake Way is very long, though — whatever you do, don’t fall off. If you do, that’s not my problem.”

“Thank you, Uncle King Yemma.”

King Yemma chuckled.

“Now that’s a polite kid.”

Kami turned to Goku and told him earnestly, “Well then, work hard — you’ll need it to face the Saiyans a year from now!”

“Bye, Kami!”

Goku climbed into the red and blue ogres’ cart and set off toward Snake Way.

A winding path — Snake Way — stretched off into an invisible distance.

The two ogres, one red and one blue, opened the cart door.

“All right, this is where you get off. This is the entrance to Snake Way. Snake Way is long — a full one million kilometers. In the last hundred million years, only Lord King Kai has ever walked it end to end.”

Son Goku asked, “How far is a million kilometers, exactly?”

“A million kilometers? That’s a hundred lots of ten thousand kilometers!”

Son Goku counted on his fingers.

“Ten thousand kilometers isn’t that far — two or three days and I’d be there. But a hundred of those… that’s a bit much…”

Suddenly, Goku’s expression froze.

“Wait, don’t tell me I couldn’t even reach King Kai in a whole year!”

But a moment later, he brushed the difficulty aside.

“Ah, whatever. Worst case, I’ll just fly there — it’ll be faster… If only my Flight Technique were as fast as Piccolo’s…”

The red and blue ogres cautioned him, “Whatever happens, be careful — don’t you dare fall off.”

“Got it. I’m off, then — bye!”

With that, Goku activated his Flight Technique and rose into the sky above Snake Way.

“Lord King Kai, here I come!”

Kame House.

Ever since getting back, Bulma had poured all her attention into studying the Scouter.

After fussing over it for most of the night, she’d finally gotten it working and swapped its script over to Earth’s language.

“Beep beep beep!”

Bulma put on the Scouter and saw the readout clearly displayed.

“As expected of a genius like me — I finally got it working!”

She walked out of her room, where Krillin and Master Roshi were watching TV, bored out of their minds.

Bulma looked at Master Roshi and pressed a button on the Scouter.

“Beep beep beep!” The Scouter chirped, and Krillin and Master Roshi both spun around at once — the sight of Bulma was the first thing they saw.

Wearing it like that, she looked eerily like Raditz had when he’d first arrived, and it gave them both a jolt.

Krillin yelped, “You scared me half to death! I thought you were Raditz!”

“Yeah, gave me a fright too,” Master Roshi said, still shaken.

Bulma smirked.

“Master Roshi, let’s see what your Power Level is. To make it easier to understand, I already translated the display into our own language — your Power Level is… 139? I see, so this number shows how strong or weak Master Roshi is.” This story is hosted at novelping.com.

Master Roshi said in surprise, “139, huh? This machine can actually put a number on a person’s strength — that’s incredibly advanced!”

Krillin said excitedly, “Bulma, can you check what my Power Level is?”

Bulma turned to Krillin, and the Scouter beeped a few more times.

“It’s 206!”

Krillin was overjoyed.

“206? Did I really surpass Master Roshi?”

Master Roshi scratched his head.

“Is this thing broken? I mean, I can accept Krillin having a higher Power Level than me, but this makes him way stronger than his own teacher…”

Krillin laughed.

“Master Roshi, don’t take it too hard! I remember this thing’s readings aren’t exact — the Power Level it shows seems to depend on your mood and condition.”

Master Roshi nodded.

“I think so too. After all, raw strength alone doesn’t mean much. Techniques, skill, and understanding of martial arts — none of that translates into a number.”

“Exactly, that’s right!”

Bulma spoke up again.

“The most impressive part of this Saiyan device isn’t just measuring Power Level — it can also detect anyone in the world with a powerful energy signature.”

As she spoke, Bulma pressed a button on the Scouter and began scanning the surroundings.

“Over here — someone about three thousand kilometers away is at around 250, and there’s another one at 103.”

“250 and 103?”

Krillin said at once, “I know! That has to be Tien Shinhan and Chiaotzu!”

Bulma immediately turned to look in another direction.

“There’s someone over there with a Power Level of 177.”

Master Roshi glanced that way.

“That’s got to be Yamcha, no question!”

Krillin said, delighted, “Perfect! Kami wanted me to gather everyone for training at Kami’s Lookout — with this, finding them will be so much easier!”

Bulma turned to look in yet another direction, puzzled.

“And over that way, there’s a Power Level of 329 — who could that be?”
