At the Lookout, the Guardian once again recounted the story of how he and King Piccolo had originally separated.
This time, however, he emphasized one crucial detail.
Before dying, King Piccolo had given birth to a son.
Because the new child inherited his life force, the Guardian—who shared the same existence as King Piccolo—had not vanished.
In other words…
King Piccolo wasn’t truly gone.
“As long as he lives, so do I,” the Guardian explained calmly.
“A god cannot kill himself.”
“Any battle between us would be meaningless.
Neither of us can deliver a fatal blow to the other.”
He looked toward Alvin and Goku.
“That is why I intend to train the two of you.”
“When the time comes, you must defeat the new Demon King and eliminate the threat once and for all.”
Alvin, however, wasn’t entirely convinced.
“I actually think we should do the opposite.”
The Guardian looked at him in surprise.
“What do you mean?”
“We should bring the second Demon King here…
and raise him properly.”
Alvin continued thoughtfully,
“You said it yourself.”
“The evil King Piccolo was born because your evil thoughts fused with the demonic energy of the Demon Realm.”
“Now that the original King Piccolo is dead…”
“The second one is merely his son.”
“He hasn’t inherited the original’s hatred or that corrupt demonic energy.”
“So instead of treating him as an enemy from birth…”
“Why not bring him here and teach him kindness?”
“Teach him to choose goodness.”
The Guardian fell silent.
He clearly hadn’t expected such an answer.
Unlike the Guardian, Alvin had no intention of destroying the second Piccolo.
In the original story, the younger Piccolo had never been inherently evil.
He eventually became one of Earth’s greatest defenders.
Thinking about the future “babysitter of the Son family,” Alvin decided to mentally call the young Namekian Piccolo to distinguish him from King Piccolo, even though both shared the same name in this world.
After all…
The greatest obstacle in people’s hearts was often prejudice.
The Guardian found those words especially difficult to accept.
He firmly rejected Alvin’s proposal, refusing to even consider bringing Piccolo Jr.
to the Lookout.
Tsk.
So it’s true—people only get more stubborn with age.
Even gods aren’t an exception.
Alvin shook his head inwardly but said nothing more.
Goku also thought Alvin’s suggestion made sense.
Still, since the Guardian had already made up his mind, he didn’t dwell on the issue.
Instead, Alvin changed the subject.
“Can we visit places like the library during our free time?”
“The Lookout should have quite a collection of books, right?”
He was far more interested in learning divine techniques than continuing the debate.
As the Guardian of Earth, Kami had never displayed much of the mystical prowess one would expect from a god.
Alvin refused to believe that was all there was.
Surely the Guardians of Earth possessed unique divine arts—abilities Kami simply never had the opportunity to demonstrate.
The only example Alvin could remember was when Kami permanently removed Goku’s tail.
There were two things Alvin wanted most from his time at the Lookout.
The first was the primitive form of Ultra Instinct that Mr.
Popo taught.
The second…
A divine art capable of manipulating gravity.
If such a technique existed, he wouldn’t need to waste a Dragon Ball wish on creating a gravity chamber, and his training speed would increase dramatically.
In the Dragon Ball universe, gravity training was practically a shortcut to explosive growth.
Goku had gone from a power level of only a few thousand to 90,000 after training for just several days inside a spacecraft with one hundred times Earth’s gravity.
The results were nothing short of miraculous.
“You may visit the library whenever you wish,” Kami replied.
“Most of the books simply record Earth’s history.
There is nothing forbidden there.”
“There are also training journals left behind by previous Guardians.
If you can learn something from them, you’re free to do so.”
“Just don’t spread their contents to outsiders.”
Mr.
Popo led the two of them toward the enormous library, introducing its various sections along the way.
Goku might have been a martial arts genius, but he certainly wasn’t a scholar.
The moment he saw the endless rows of books, he quickly found an excuse to slip away and continue training, leaving Alvin alone to explore.
“Hmm?”
“What’s this?”
Curious about a cloth-covered object tucked away in a corner, Alvin lifted one edge of the fabric.
The instant he saw what lay beneath, his voice shot up an octave.
“The Black Star Dragon Balls?!”
He froze.
Until this moment, Alvin had believed he was living in the main Dragon Ball timeline.
Now…
These Dragon Balls told him something entirely different.
Wait…
don’t tell me this world also includes Dragon Ball GT?
Mr.
Popo nodded.
“These Dragon Balls were created before Kami and the Demon King separated.”
“They possess extraordinary magical power and can grant virtually any wish.”
“However, after a wish is made, they scatter across the universe.”
“If they are not gathered again within one year…”
“…the planet where the wish was made will self-destruct.”
“For that reason, these Dragon Balls must never be used.”
Alvin stared speechlessly at the legendary Dragon Balls.
They weren’t locked away behind countless seals.
They weren’t protected by powerful barriers.
They were simply covered with…
a piece of cloth.
Only in the Dragon Ball world could something this dangerous be stored so casually.
Even if the Lookout existed within a separate dimension and couldn’t be reached by ordinary means, leaving them like this without any safeguards was unbelievably careless.
No wonder Pilaf’s gang had been able to steal them so easily in the GT timeline.
“This container blocks the Dragon Balls’ energy signature.”
“You should store them inside and seal the box somewhere hidden.”
“What if someone with bad intentions sneaks into the Lookout and steals them?”
“The universe is far too vast.”
“I seriously doubt anyone could recover all seven Black Star Dragon Balls within a single year.”
Mr.
Popo considered his words carefully before nodding.
“That…
makes sense.”
“We’ve been rather careless.”
“This section contains historical records.”
“And over there are the training journals left by previous Guardians.”
“You may read whichever you like.”
“As for these Dragon Balls…”
“I’ll speak with Kami about storing them somewhere more securely.”
After placing all seven Black Star Dragon Balls into the shielded container Alvin had provided, Mr.
Popo carried the box away, leaving Alvin standing alone inside the massive library.
“So the Shadow Dragons exist in this world too…”
Alvin murmured thoughtfully.
“That means we can’t abuse the Dragon Balls the way they were used in the original story.”
Simply telling everyone wouldn’t be convincing.
He needed evidence.
Over the next few days, he planned to search the library for historical records proving the dangers of excessive Dragon Ball use before informing the others.
Life at the Lookout soon settled into a comfortable routine.
Every day, Alvin spent eight hours training alongside Mr.
Popo and Goku.
The rest of his time was divided between studying in the library and relaxing.
Under Mr.
Popo’s guidance, Alvin’s previously weak martial arts foundation improved rapidly.
His explosive growth in power had left his fundamentals lacking, but now he was steadily correcting the countless unnecessary movements that wasted energy during combat.
As his control improved, Alvin also gained new insights into his self-created technique, Divine Fist Burst.
He could already see a path toward perfecting it.
Once completed, it would become one of his greatest trump cards.
Goku’s strength also continued to rise, though not as dramatically.
Master Roshi had already built an exceptional foundation for him, and Goku’s control over every ounce of his power far surpassed Alvin’s from the very beginning.
Without gravity manipulation or a gravity chamber, explosive increases in raw power were impossible.
Training at the Lookout focused instead on mastery.
Before arriving, Goku could already utilize roughly eighty percent of his strength.
Alvin, despite possessing greater raw power, could barely use half of his full potential.
In battle, Alvin relied on overwhelming force.
Goku relied on refined technique.
Outside of training, Alvin buried himself in the journals left by generations of Guardians.
Most of the notes were mundane and repetitive…
But hidden among them were genuine treasures.
From those records, he gradually learned a unique method of training known as Divine Arts.
The energy produced through this practice was called God Ki.
At the moment, it didn’t seem particularly useful.
Still…
Who knew?
Perhaps someday it would allow him to become something unprecedented— the first Super Earthling God.
