Bulma switched on one of the Dragon Radars.
The palm-sized screen immediately lit up.
Seven bright points appeared, representing the seven Dragon Balls.
Two of those signals were moving.
“The controls work exactly like my original Dragon Radar.”
She pressed one of the buttons several times.
The display automatically zoomed in on the nearest Dragon Ball.
It was located somewhere in the wilderness not far from West City.
“Excellent!”
Oolong cheered excitedly.
“Now that we have another Dragon Radar, even if we find just one Dragon Ball first and hide it inside that signal-blocking container…”
“Demon King Piccolo will never be able to gather all seven and make his wish!”
Master Roshi’s expression, however, remained grave.
Ever since Demon King Piccolo’s return, even the normally carefree old martial arts master had become unusually serious.
“Everyone.”
“For the next few days, stay somewhere isolated.”
“Somewhere out in the wilderness.”
“When Piccolo’s subordinate stole the Dragon Ball…”
“He also deliberately took the list of competitors from the World Martial Arts Tournament.”
“I doubt that was a coincidence.”
He slowly looked around at everyone.
“Demon King Piccolo may begin targeting martial artists.”
“After all…”
“The man who sealed him away all those years ago…”
“…was a martial artist.”
Alvin had been studying his own Dragon Radar for quite some time.
By now, he had already figured out how it worked.
He looked toward Master Roshi.
“Master Roshi.”
“I’m taking one of the Dragon Radars.”
“I’m going to find Goku.”
He pointed toward the two moving signals on the display.
“One of these moving Dragon Balls is probably with Goku.”
“The other…”
“…should belong to Demon King Piccolo.”
He narrowed his eyes.
“And look.”
“The two signals are getting closer together.”
“One of them is moving in a perfectly straight line.”
“It looks like it’s aboard an aircraft.”
In truth, Alvin had another objective.
He barely remembered the events of the original Dragon Ball anymore.
He had watched that part of the series as a child, and much of it had faded from memory.
But one thing he did remember…
Demon King Piccolo had created several demon offspring of his own.
By staying near Goku, Alvin could eliminate those demons before they caused more damage.
That would weaken Piccolo’s forces…
And, through Power Inheritance, greatly increase Alvin’s own strength.
Besides…
As the protagonist of the story, Goku possessed a remarkable talent shared by heroes everywhere.
Trouble always found him.
There was no need to waste time searching for enemies.
If Alvin stayed beside Goku…
The enemies would come to him.
All he had to do was defeat them.
It was both faster and far more efficient.
Master Roshi looked at Alvin thoughtfully.
“Can you sense Demon King Piccolo’s exact location?”
Alvin shook his head.
“No.”
“I can only determine the general direction.”
He pointed toward the northeast.
The moving Dragon Ball signal lay somewhere in that direction. Visit g.com for the full chapter.
After a brief pause, he continued,
“His Ki is terrifying.”
“Even Tien isn’t close.”
“I’d estimate…”
“…Piccolo’s Ki is roughly one-third stronger than Tien’s.”
Instead of becoming more worried, Master Roshi actually seemed to relax.
“I see…”
He lowered his gaze.
“If that’s truly the extent of his strength…”
“Then perhaps…”
“Even an old man like me could still seal him away…”
Even if it costs me my life.
The thought remained unspoken.
After a moment, he raised his head.
“Very well.”
“Let’s move.”
“Tien, Chiaotzu, and I will search for the remaining Dragon Balls.”
He looked directly at Alvin.
“As for Goku…”
“I’m entrusting him to you.”
The group split up and departed in different directions.
Master Roshi, Tien Shinhan, and Chiaotzu boarded one of Bulma’s aircraft to search for the remaining Dragon Balls.
Meanwhile, Alvin climbed into his own jet.
Before he left, Lazuli came to see him off.
“I’ll be waiting for you.”
She looked him straight in the eyes.
“I’ll wait until the day you use the Dragon Balls to bring our families back.”
She never asked to accompany him.
She understood her own limitations.
Without enough strength, she would only become a burden.
Staying behind with the others was the wiser choice.
Lapis grinned.
“Don’t worry, Sis.”
“This is Alvin we’re talking about.”
“You’ve seen him these past few days.”
“He gets stronger the longer he fights.”
“Who knows?”
“Maybe in a few days he’ll be the one taking down Demon King Piccolo.”
After saying their goodbyes, Bulma and the others also wasted no time.
They packed only the essentials before taking off in another aircraft.
Bulma had already contacted her parents and warned them to stay safe.
Alvin’s jet sped across the sky.
As he flew, he drew closer and closer to one of the Dragon Balls that was moving along a winding path.
“If only this plane were faster…”
He sighed.
“Too bad I don’t have anything capable of sustained supersonic flight.”
As he approached the target, Alvin gradually lowered his altitude.
Then—
He sensed it.
A faint but unmistakably evil Ki.
Alongside it…
Two powerful auras comparable to Tien Shinhan’s.
Moments later, three figures came into view.
Son Goku.
A chubby young man.
And…
One of Demon King Piccolo’s demon offspring.
“Don’t steal my prey, chubby.”
Seeing the round-faced young man preparing to attack, Alvin immediately grew anxious.
That demon was an important source of Power Inheritance.
Without worrying about making a safe landing, he slammed the throttle wide open.
The jet screamed toward the ground. Visit g.com for the full chapter.
“Look!”
Goku exclaimed.
“An airplane’s heading straight at us!”
Yajirobe immediately leaped aside.
Plane crashes weren’t something he had any desire to experience.
“You fool!”
Cymbal sneered as he rose into the air.
“You think crashing an airplane into me is enough to defeat me?”
He easily avoided the diving aircraft.
Just before impact—
Alvin pulled the ejection handle.
The cockpit blasted open, launching him high into the air.
BOOM!
The aircraft slammed into the forest and exploded.
The deafening blast sent flocks of birds scattering into the sky.
Just before the explosion, Alvin instinctively wrapped his body in Ki.
The shockwave swept past him without causing any real injury.
Smoke and dust engulfed the entire area, concealing his figure.
Yajirobe angrily shouted toward the smoke.
“Hey!”
“Do you even know how to fly?”
“If you’re trying to kill yourself, crash into a mountain!”
“Why aim at us?!”
A calm voice answered from within the dust cloud.
“Sorry.”
“Sorry.”
“I just got a little excited when I saw this guy.”
Alvin slowly emerged from the drifting smoke.
His eyes never left Cymbal.
The killing intent radiating from him was impossible to conceal.
Cymbal frowned.
“Have the Demon Clan become such a joke?”
“Now every random nobody thinks he can challenge us?”
As Demon King Piccolo’s second offspring, Cymbal wasn’t as powerful as his elder brother, Tambourine.
Even so, he considered himself exceptionally strong.
Only slightly weaker than his brother.
Had he chosen almost any other direction in his search for the Dragon Balls, he could have roamed the world virtually unchallenged.
As long as he avoided Master Roshi and Tien Shinhan…
Few people on Earth could threaten him.
Unfortunately…
His luck had completely run out.
He had wandered directly into the company of Goku.
Among the three people standing before him—
Goku.
Yajirobe.
And Alvin.
Any one of them was capable of killing him.
Alvin slowly clenched his fist.
“This punch…”
“…is for the tens of thousands of innocent souls who died in Radish Town.”
He fixed Cymbal with an icy stare.
“Go back…”
“And deliver a message to your master.”
“We’re coming for Demon King Piccolo.”
Before Cymbal could even react—
Alvin vanished.
His fist crashed into the demon’s chest.
Boom!
The impact punched a massive hole straight through Cymbal’s torso.
His heart exploded into a spray of blood and shattered flesh.
Send those stones my way—the more, the merrier.
