But Dalles no longer had the same intentions as before.
He was currently cooperating with the Heeters to execute the Frieza Force’s invasion mission.
He had absolutely no desire to get involved with the Galactic Patrol.
“Forget it.”
Tights was just about to say something else.
“Eh?”
Dalles waved his hand.
“Don’t bother.
I’m quite busy with work right now, and suddenly I don’t really want to go back anymore.”
Without giving Tights any time to react, he turned around.
Faced with Dalles’s sudden change of tune, Tights was completely dumbfounded.
*What kind of plot twist was this?*
*Why was there no buildup at all?*
*She wouldn’t even dare write her novels like this!*
*Her editor would reject the manuscript if they saw it!*
Tights wanted to call out and stop him, but Dalles had already walked several steps away.
Right then, Dalles stopped.
He turned his body slightly.
“By the way, if you don’t have any pressing business, I suggest you don’t stay on this planet for too long.
That is, if you don’t want to die.”
With that said, Dalles left Tights with nothing but his retreating figure.
He was soon swallowed up by the bustling crowd of pedestrians.
*What did that mean?*
Tights was completely baffled.
She looked down and pulled out a frayed little notebook from the side pocket of her backpack.
She scribbled in it for a moment, then added two giant question marks.
Dalles turned the corner, crossed a commercial plaza, and found Daiz and Cacao on the shaded side of a high-rise building.
The two were standing at their previously agreed rendezvous point.
Daiz leaned against the wall, his short light blue hair swaying slightly in Planet Caren’s gentle breeze.
Cacao stood beside him, the optical sensors on his metallic torso scanning toward Dalles.
Dalles pulled his communication earpiece from a hidden pouch on his waist and put it back on.
He reconnected to the channel he had hung up on earlier.
“Mr.
Dalles?”
“Did something happen just now?
Why did you suddenly lose contact?”
Dalles remained expressionless.
“It’s nothing.
Keep talking.”
On the other end, Maki took a deep breath, having no choice but to drop the subject.
Following Maki’s directions, Dalles and his two subordinates arrived at their safe house on Planet Caren.
It was located in a commercial office building on the outskirts of Planet Caren’s capital ring.
The entire basement level had been rented out by the Heeters under a shell company.
The space was much larger than Dalles had anticipated.
What should have been a parking garage had been converted into a fully equipped combat command center.
Soundproof wall panels divided the floor into several independent sections.
The largest room housed a circular control console with an inactive holographic projector in the center.
Although Elec and the others weren’t physically present, they appeared via holographic projection on the wall monitors.
The moment the holographic projector activated, the entire underground space was bathed in a blue-white glow.
A 3D model of Planet Caren rose from the center of the console, rotating slowly.
The distribution of continental plates, oceans, urban clusters, and military bases were all clearly marked with different colored dots of light.
Elec’s holographic image stood at the other end of the projection table.
His hands were clasped behind his back, and his short silver-gray hair gleamed with a cold luster under the light.
“Mr.
Dalles, I’ll start with the conclusion.”
Elec spoke, his pace unhurried, but every word carried a meticulously calculated precision.
“For this operation, you won’t need to lift a finger.”
Dalles’s brow twitched slightly.
“At least, not in the initial stages.”
Elec raised his right hand and swiped a finger through the air.
The 3D map zoomed in, focusing on a continent in Planet Caren’s northern hemisphere.
Several red dots flashed at the locations of military bases.
“Planet Caren’s political system is a united government.
The twelve administrative districts each possess independent military forces, unified and deployed by the central government.”
His finger tapped again.
Three of the red dots turned yellow.
“The military commanders of these three administrative districts are deeply dissatisfied with the current united government’s ruling policies.”
“Unequal resource distribution, budget cuts, and the ‘demilitarization’ policies the united government has pushed in recent years.”
Elec’s voice was as flat as if he were reading a report.
“These three commanders control thirty-five percent of Planet Caren’s total military strength.
Among them, Commander Morton of the Northern First Military District is the core figure of the opposition.”
Dalles said nothing.
He waited.
Elec continued.
“Over the past six months, we’ve established contact with Morton through various channels.
Funds, weapons, intelligence—we’ve provided everything necessary.”
Maki’s holographic projection sat nearby with her legs crossed, chewing on something unknown, and chimed in.
“Simply put, we’ve already fattened up General Morton.”
Elec ignored his sister’s interruption.
“The core of the plan boils down to one word—coup.”
“The three military districts led by Morton will launch a joint uprising to overthrow the current united government.”
Elec’s hand traced an arc across the map, pointing straight from the three yellow dots in the north to the central region where the capital was located.
“Once the coup is launched, the united government will inevitably mobilize its remaining forces to suppress it.”
“Civil war,” Dalles added.
“Exactly.” Elec nodded.
“The civil war will deplete both sides’ military strength and the reserves of the planetary defense system.
Once they’ve exhausted themselves fighting…”
His finger landed on the capital’s location on the map.
“Mr.
Dalles will then intervene under the guise of a ‘peacekeeping force’.”
Hearing this, Dalles basically understood Elec’s plan.
A military coup within Planet Caren would trigger a full-scale civil war, leaving both sides mutually devastated.
Finally, the Frieza Force would step in under the pretext of being “invited peacekeepers” to clean up the mess.
“Mr.
Dalles, remember, no matter how the situation turns out for Morton’s side in the end, you must ensure this planet remains under a single government controlled exclusively by us.”
Dalles hesitated for a brief moment before nodding.
He wasn’t a saint.
While he did feel a sense of sympathy and sorrow for the planet’s inhabitants, he had no obligation to change their fate.
Nor did he have the ability.
If Dalles wasn’t here today, there would just be another executioner.
As for whether he would go to hell after he died, he didn’t want to dwell on it.
He only knew that if he failed to complete this mission, even if he didn’t go to hell, the rest of his life would be fraught with hardship.
“The timeline for the coup has been set.
Morton’s preparations are basically complete, save for one final step.”
“What is it?”
“He needs confirmation that once he makes his move, there will be sufficient external forces to ‘help’ him at a critical moment.”
Elec looked at Dalles.
“For the specifics, he needs to see you.”
Elec’s finger tapped the map.
A green dot appeared on the outskirts of the Northern First Military District.
“Three days from now, Morton will visit a civilian spaceport under the jurisdiction of the Northern First Military District under the guise of an ‘inspection’.
At that time, Mr.
Dalles, you only need to appear as hired security.
We will arrange a natural scenario for you to make contact.”
